I became curious about this one and did a internet search for "Jerry Stapert basketball" and one of the results was for the Brookland Basketball Camp to be held next week.

Looks like that is where he landed.

Wish him luck, Brookland has a long history of success on the basketball court. This will be one to watch for sure.

They have already got their new coach. Buddy Bush is their new coach. He was Silsbee's assistant and freshman coach the last couple of seasons. A few years ago he was the head coach of Silsbee's girls varsity. This is his first head boys job.

He is a Kirbyville graduate.

Another true point guard is the  Mcgallion kid from spurger, he is from a small school so he wont get

alot of air time.He impressed me alot in the silsbee tournament.He did all the things a point needs to

and scored only when he had to.When his big guy was having trouble in the ozen game he put in 20 pts

and 9 asst.

I'm rooting for the Pirates in this one, but during the regular season the highest they beat HD by was 7, and Bremond won by 12. it's going to be close, but unfortunately I have to say Bremond by 5. Good luck Pirates. Hope you prove me wrong.

Where did u get ur calculations from?  This season Spurger beat HD in Spurger 69-56 ( thats by 13 ) & then 63-59 in HD (thats by 4). Pirates will be out to prove u, token white guy, and whomever else is a non-believer wrong.  And on another note I believe that the Spurger Pirates are very thankful for their fan support so far on this journey.......

I looked on here so whoever posted the scores must be wrong, don't jump on my a$$. And in case you didn't notice, I stated that i am ROOTING FOR THE PIRATES. I legitimately hope they prove me wrong because I want them to go far. And if the point difference doesn't matter, why do so many people look at it? Just some thoughts to put into ya'lls minds. Wow, I think you need to calm down a little, take some anger management classes, or something. What I read, when I read what you quoted on, is a questions on info. collected and pointing out of non-believers.  Everyone has an opinion, thats what this site is for, you made one and courtside did too....Unfortunately the Pirates didn't prove you wrong last night, they never gave up and did fight very hard till the bitter end, but quess what? My "opinion" is that, THEY WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know where to start. I'm still pretty devistated, shocked, and etc........As far as the final on this game, if, if, if, bla, bla, bla, the reasoning can go on & on, but the way I must look at it, is that this team made a great run 2 yrs. in a roll, they return many key players & a very great coach.  I think the future is bright for this team & coach. The Seniors will be missed. I wished the outcome, especially for them could have been even better.  At the end of this season/journey, the big picture remains---------THEY WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all the fans, I think Spurger must have been a ghost town again, last night. 

didnt get a chance to make the game yesterday. but by the score it looks like they missed those 3 players. which 3 players was it?

yea this a basketball forum, people wanted to know why the kids werent playing not who sold them drugs. the kids made a stupid mistake and coach foster took care of it.

"The Scout" your the one who asked which 3 players & the question was answered!!!  Everyone knows Coach Foster is an upstanding great coach with lots of respect from many and from the action taken he has proven what kind of coach and person he is. This season the one's who are hurt are the team, the coach, and their fans that were let down.

Hopefully this will be an eyeopener for the players in-hand and others it could happen to, near & far.................

Like i said you play with what you have got.That all i am going to say.End off story.

Fair enough, just hope the best for the one's left that have worked hard all season and Coach Foster whom has given his all year after year.

I just heard Spurger will be playing Cleveland, im checking into it & will update soon

Last night was Senior night, all Seniors started, then the possible starters for next year came in, then this years starters came in, lots of bench play throughtout the game.  High Island didn't have the 30 y/o big guy that landed on Whittaker leg in High Island.  Don't know if its because of their record this year or what, but HI plays dirty!!! McGallion & Whittaker played well, back from injury. Blankenship went out with ankle in 2q, then Hutto went out n 3rd after his face got stepped on, blacked out, & took to ER. 

Thanks Bigtime player on your prediction!!!  The stands were packed again last night, hopefully to see this to the end.

Friday the 13th in West Hardin will be a big challenge.

The Pirates will miss "our favorite fan" from last year in WH, he is serving our country & will be very much missed @ this years game.

Come on Pirates lets bring this W home for Mr. Hollier!

What???  You are totally wrong!!!

Rawls was on Varsity @ the start, he made a dicision to play JV or either quit.  Coach let him go to JV, to keep the ball in his hand.  One other player done the same & then ended up quiting!!!  Both players in discussion are sophmores that have played for years & their dicision this season has left fans/etc. puzzled, but for now Rawls is playing Varsity & doing a heck of a job.

totally Rawls decision & only Rawls knows the reason.  What only matters now is that he is where he should be & is and has been a great asset to the Spurger Pirates the last few games.

The Pirates have had tooooooooo many this season already, luckily they weren't as severe as everyone thought.

I think that coach just needs to invest in some bubble wrap, or atleast some elbow pads for the entire team, the pirates have been hell on the elbows!!  I know atleast 4 this season that has hurt an elbow.

I predict, Pirates by 16, with Rawls, Blankenship, and Whittaker in double digits & WITH NO ONE GETTING HURT

Congrats to the pirates.This was a fun game to watch between two very evenly matched clubs.That being said Spurger was playing very short handed tonight.Whittacre couldn't go and McGallion gutted out a tough performance but wasn't 100%.Blankenship stepped up and is becoming the kind of player I thought he would be even though he was in early foul trouble.Spurgers bench also stepped up huge with 00 having a very big game.This was my first time this year to see SP and they played hard and had a chance to win it at the end just couldn't hit the FT at the end.Hindsight is 20/20 but they probably wish now they had pulled everyone off the line with 2 seconds left and the game tied.The worse thing that could have happened would be OT and Blankenship had fouled out.Overall very good atmosphere for the game.The officials were out of the Beaumont Chapter and I thought they did a good job.

Don't know if he will play or not. I was told that he will be taking it easy, ( one day @ a time ), good chance he will suit out & sit, till he fills ready!!! So far things are looking up for #12. He, his teammates, coach, fans, & etc. are just happy that the results were what they was, could have been so much worse.  The Pirates have stepped it up the last few games with their missing teammates sitting along side them, they have lots of heart & a great coach leading them.  Keep it up Spurger Pirates.  And fan support, WOW!, Spurger had home side packed to the limit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was my first time being in Spurger.  Fantantic fans!! Met some good folks.  Beautiful gym.  GREAT HOST!!  Congrats Spurger!!  7 players from this district will end up playing COLLEGE HOOPS, at what level remains to be seen.  As for now, I am done with district 25-A.  Will be looking out for some 2 & 3a beginning this Friday, followed by 4 & 5a in the next few weeks.  I was disappointed that #12 of Spurger could not play.  Keep playing hard and you never know where you end up.  Good things do happen to good people in life, too.

Being in the S.E. Texas for the last two weeks has great been!!!  Three more weeks to go.  

See you next year; may be the playoffs, too!
