Bruh I think u missed my point .. I know there’s a difference.  I’m just saying from a competition standpoint.
the point I’m trying to make is that regardless of sport  it’ll be Very hard for an elite group of kids that are 15-18 to beat college Level kids that are 17-22..one of the main reasons is due to  the 17-22 year old group having faced elite experience and competition. Experience and competition that you can’t replicate on the high school level.. only my opinion tho ..lol

You’re 100% accurate. Experience definitely makes a huge difference. Talent also matters. If we took MVA’s players when they are 20-22 and matched them against SFA they would win by 40 points or more. Experience is the only reason this is an argument to begin with.

I am reading all of these exchanges with a great deal of interest.   If I am understanding you all correctly, then the Houston Rockets should be losing every game with the biggest player on the floor being about 6'6"  ( at that level, who the coach is doesnt matter too much because they are all very competent)

I would concede it might have been closer than 58-14 at half.  But MV’s best player only took like 7 shots in that game.  Reminded me of a pickup game where the team that has been waiting finally gets a shot and the team that owns the floor puts in cruise control and takes a rest while playing and keeping the floor.   It wasn’t even remotely competitive.  Kind of like a Silsbee vs HF game before Coach Tigee.   Merely to point out that arguably the most talented team in the state looked like scrubs against the team awarded the National Championship at the HS level.  But to put it in further perspective and to show you what Yates was dealing with, I am convinced of something after seeing several of the SLC teams this year.  Montverde would beat some, if not most, of the teams in that league.

The Alamodome venue is a bad location, it’s too  large and it will never sell out. I prefer Austin

I agree with everything you have stated. Very well put. My mention of racially motivated decisions was strictly about the subject of the UIL and it's state tourney pairings.

I thought this was a game day thread and i see ur super salty!!  the transfer thingy goes both ways ..kids in Houston are less stable than pretty much anywhere else in the state  . I see it’s kinda hard for most on here  to  understand that ..most of  you  all want to draw  the line up until the point to where it stops benefiting you ... Stop knit picking and congratulate the kids for their accomplishments

A shot clock is not needed.

A shot clock is needed.  it could be a good opportunity for high schoolers to get ready for college basketball. It will speed up the game, good teams will score within the time frame, bad teams will have to adjust. A shot clock may expose some coaches offensive & defensive plays but it will also challenge coaches to improve their philosophies and how they manage the clock.

I understand Yates is the team everyone talks about and dreads but I see no excitement in their games....guess it’s me,  they do not impress me, which I’m nobody I’m just somebody that watches basketball and loves the playoffs, I have no one that plays in high school,  just an old ball player myself from many years ago and I guess I like seeing more  Competitive ball playing then what I see with Yates, I would think as a fan it would get Somewhat boring after a while....

Good luck to all the teams left, lots of good memories you will have for a life time

The legal guardian indicated that the two players, one is a junior and the other is a senior were home schooled and lived in the Yates School Zone for 2 Years.  The legal guardian have legal guardianship of those young men.  The guardian stated that the young men were taken in because they came from a trouble environment.  The two players did not play local summer ball in Houston.  The guardian stated that Coach Wise was not aware that the young men plans of enrolling at Yates until they enrolled at Yates.  HCYA is the home school the young men was enrolled in last year.  AGAIN the young men had been living in the Yates School Zone for 2 Years.  It's no one's business regarding where the young men came from before arriving to Houston.  The legal guardian had the necessary paperwork required by UIL.  Coach Wise reputation is on the line with the comments made by the head coach at HJ.

A lot of those kids have ties to yates .. great grandparents, grandparents , or parents went there ..yates is a very old school ...with yates basketball  ur argument goes both ways ... they lose kids to the ft bend schools which are always exceptional in basketball , they lose kids to Prep and private schools ... this balances out.. yates does not have to recruit any players ...players already want to go there ..

I Work hard , and control the things that I can control, I don’t complain To my kids about the unevenness ..I tell them to work hard and treat everyone like they want to be treated   ... but I’m not gonna make a big issue  Or go to the media about something that I’ was guilty of doing years  back ...Clay Davis was Clearly  out of line for those comments and for allowing his player to be disrespectful..and y’all are on here Justifying his comments , actions / lack of actions

And what they don’t understand is That yates loses key players just as they come. So this goes both ways. Yates and other hisd school lose a lot of players to ft. Bend , prep schools , and private schools. A lot of the people on this site have bad understanding of what goes on in Houston and HiSD...
