  1. Excellent point.  Best of luck to both in their future endeavors.

All I know is that Dayton whipped the snot out of Nederland and didn't get a second chance to whip the snot out of Lumberton, I know I know 8-7, lol, but when it boils right down to it academically will both Hussey and DJ be able to make it in college?  Are they both academically sound?  Just wondering.  I would love for both of these guys and any of the SE Tx guys to represent the area in college because I love seeing guys from our area playing on the weekends on tv.  Heck, the commentators from the HP/LT game were talking about how just about every college team has to recruit a player from TX, this makes me proud cuz we are SO passionate about our high school football and we know the best players come from TX.  I hope he represents his city and teammates well but heck if things go bad at least he'll get an education from UT, hard to beat that.  Hook'em!

  2. Woo Hoo! Congrats Lake Travis.......good to know we got beat by the BEST! You earned it, you deserve it! Enjoy the ring and the title!  ;D

GO BRONCOS! THANK YOU FOR AN AWESOME SEASON! ;D

Man HP gave that game to LT!  I feel sorry for the kid that dropped that pass on fourth down that would have kept HP's drive going, he's gonna'remember that one forever.  Congrats to LT, they were pretty darn good, hopefully Dayton will see them again next year with a different outcome.

  3. Dayton had the #1 scoring defense in the state for class 4A.  Congrats to Mr. Hussey, quite a snub for AJ though.  He was the 2nd best player I saw this year behind that Jaquizz kid from Lamar (reminds me of Dante Hall with Barry Sanders moves).  Can't believe the Gilbert wasn't the all state QB though...almost 5000 yards, c'mon now writers.

I agree.  Man i've been to a thousand high school football games and have seen lots of kids play but you know how you can tell when there are some that are on the next level.  Yeah, that Gilbert kid will be playing on Sundays in the near future.  I hear that HP QB is something special as well.  Anyone got any info on the HP QB?

  4. Sour grapes...

Reading the comments I haven't seen anything too terribly bad.  Everyone is just expressing their opinions, taking up for their teams, and basically just stating the OBVIOUS.  The last time I looked everyone is entitled to their opinion, their hasn't been any personal attacks that I can see.  Once DJ goes to UT he will be under a microscope worse than any message board ever thought about being.  The AP is kind of like the BCS, all the coaches and fans etc. know it doesn't mean a hill of beans because every year it comes out it ends up being a big joke.  Each and every player has to play the game and DJ along with many other athletes that weren't mentioned will get their shot and it's up to them to make the best of it.  BUT I still can't believe there were not any Waller, Dayton, and Lumberton (besides Hussey) players on the All State List.  As far as Ozen's concerned, they have no arguments, actually they kind of fell off the map as far as football goes.  What happened to all of their talent?  Seems like their interests are going to other areas.

  5. Nothing against Johnson, I think he is a great player, but there's no way this guy should be defensive player of the year. There are too many players out there who had better years. Johnson didn't even make 1st team all district. It's not a knock on Dravantti's abilty, I believe he'll go on to be a good college player, but you just can't deny others with tremendous year's those kind of accolades. I have lost all respect for the AP voters, they are clueless.

I'm pretty sure Mack Brown and his comittment to UT had something to do with the voting i'm sure, well you at least know where i'm going with that.  How is it absolutely possible that not one defensive player from Dayton made the team.  Mack must have not seen the video of Dugat or Powell running by Johnson scoring all of those touchdowns against him.  Dayton had one of the top five defenses in the state if not 1 or 2.  How is this possible?  This is disturbing and comical all at the same time.  Congrats to Hussey, wish I could say that to some other well deserving athletes.  Maybe I'll call Mack.

  6. Thats why I only have one.... lol

If Rick Barnes can't get him straight he will be at the end of the bench or out of the program all together...  May wind up a Kilgore or Lee Junior College!

Does anyone have it on video?  I'd like to see it.  Kind of reminds me of when Randy Moss walked off of the field in the middle of one of the Vikings games.  Horrible example for the younger kids to see.  Just think of all the younger kids that were there that night that witnessed his actions.  Hopefully the coach will take care of it.

  7. I believe RKHUFU 7 is pulling for Dayton to win, he was just asking a question.

RKHUFU7 did bring up a good topic when he answered one of my other posts.  Kyle field is all grass, will this benefit Dayton or LT?  Gonna' have to go with the fast guys which would be Dayton.  I understand that LT is big but speed, defense, and no turnovers is going to win this game.  One QB is not.  Just by looking at the stats and win loss records etc. its all pretty much even, EXCEPT, for points allowed.  Gotta'give the edge to the Broncos when it comes right down to it.  This is probably going to be the hardest LT has been hit all year.  Waller was just stunned last week because they were bigger and Dayton just hit'em in the mouth!  gotta give it to waller though they hit back.  I would love to be in the coaches meetings in LT right now.  This going to be fun.

  8. Westlake and Connally held him under 50% completions and he tossed 4 INTs vs the Chaps.  You guys have better speed, you just have to be phsyical and get after him, and don't allow any running game or kick returns.  They don't take them all the way, they just get good field position.  Is Nederland like Friendswood?  LT is very much like Friendswood, but they pass more.  Lake Travos has trouble with athletic teams, you will be held, so be ready.  don't get in a shootout, you will likley lose, that means your defense is getting torched.  They don't rely on defense, just SCORING!

Friendswood was huge but correct me if i'm wrong I don't think Dayton had the current lineup as far as defense goes when they played Friendswood.  I believe Dayton's defense has been revamped since that game, pretty sure of it.  But of course as it goes with well coached teams adjustments are made throughout the season so I expect the same for LT as well.  I see LT scoring but not much.  Dayton's defense is just to fast and pesky for them and if they do decide to run they will have short drives because that is what Dayton's defense does, they force good offensive teams to make everything go up the middle because you can't run outside on Dayton they are too fast.  Can't wait until friday.  Also, it looks like there is going to be rain in the forecast and that would be great for Dayton and aweful for LT since they are a passing team.  Go Big D!

  9. Lake Travis has depth, none of their players play both ways and they have very good size, but not speed.  They pass 80% of the time and only run when you give it foolishly or to keep your rush honest.  The love running screens and they will roll Gilbert left alot to hit the WRs on comeback outs.  Their defense is average and benefit from team being in the lead alot.  They are not world beaters, Region 4 is just it's normal weak self this year.  The Cavs did not face a single team with great speed and Beeville put up 43, and have only 33 players!  Their coach loves to do onsides kicks and fakes vs poorly coached teams.  They have good return teams, that set their offense up in good field position, so you gotta hustle, cover and tackle.

Rumor has it lake travis is not well liked in their district and region.  I believe it has something to do with their coaching staff etc.  If this is true im gonna'put my money on the Big D because i'm sure that every team lake travis has played this year has already made sure that dayton has every weakness on tape in a xmas present with a big purple ribbon on top.  Lol, can't wait til'friday.  If you don't have a purple shirt then wear a longhorn shirt, i am hee hee hee.

  10. no disrespect there COOP but you're dreamin!!!! If Waller had'nt Coughed up the ball, dayton would be playing B ball.

    LT 35

    broncos 20

Gotta'love a little crow breath making some comments from the basketball court.  By all means the game was not as close as the score posted.  Waller had an awesome defense but could not handle the spread offense of Dayton.  Dayton had one bonehead mistake with the bobbled punt return and then the forced fumble, both in Dayton territory.  It happens.  I think it was the best thing that could have happened to Dayton.  Now them kids know they can weather the storm and get through a little diversity, heck they've only won like 50 games in a row by more than 30 pts.  I've said this a thousand times but I still can't get over how hard them Broncos were hitting, MAN!  They were absolutely outsized by Waller but Dayton didn't back down and smacked'em in the mouth!  LTrain, LTrain, LTrain.....yeahp.....it still gets on my nerves.

    CONGRATS TO THE BRONCOS.

I will make the highlight video tonight and upload everything to gametime.com

    ENJOY THE VIDEOS!!!

    WAY TO GO BRONCOS!!!

Awesome videos, that was just a portion of the hard hitting going on.  If you take a look at the interceptions the defense is just laying out the Waller defenders.  Both sides of the ball hit hard all night but i have to give the edge to Big D!  I've watched that punt return 20x's

  12. Man Dayton and Waller were just dishing it out to each other last night!  Dayton just came out and put it on them dogs in the first half and just flat out out hit and played Waller.  Then, there were turnovers, AAAHH!.  That totally switched the momentum in the game and Waller's huge o-line was just pounding our defensive front but Dayton's D took it and was able to make some key stops.  PimpSmack if your in the house or any LTrain fan you guys got what the Dr ordered in reference to hitting #7 the QB because on the very last play of the game #7 got SMACKED!!!! and fumbled the ball ending the game. ;D  Dayton's defense and the spread offense was just to much in the end for Waller.  Congrats go out to Waller and the Big D!

  13. PACKED HOUSE FOR THE BRONCOS!!!

    A little over 5,500!!!

Time to go start working on the video....

    Will take about 4 hours...

By far the hardest hitting game i've seen all year.  Hey Purple, did you happen to catch that hit on the punt return where that kid from waller got just creamed and his helmet flew off?  Hope so.  Glad to see that kid got up after that hit but it will make a great highlite on film.  Go Big D!

  14. i kinda got tired of them at first, but most of them are good-natured and fun, and i've had fun on here going back and forth with the lumberton fans.  tvc is right, you don't have to read them.  as for these threads taking away from the dayton/waller game, why don't you take it upon yourself to start up some threads about that game.  there are a lot of dayton fans on the site, and most of SETX is behind dayton right now.  if you start some dayton threads, i'm sure you'll find that there are plenty that are willing to talk about it.

Let's see, 9 posts and not the first answer reference Waller.  Maybe I should take all of you Senior's "forum clinic" and then maybe I could fit in and get responses.  Man, you get hammered for stirring the pot.  No really, I enjoy reading the Lumberton posts too but GEEZ!  That's all I'm going to say on that because GEEZ!  Did I already say GEEZ?  I guess I just need some direction since i'm so not deserving of being up there with the SENIORS in posting, I guess I just need to pucker up and do some kissing of the bootee like the rest of the posters reference Lumberton.  Lol, man ya'll kill me.  No really, anything on the Waller Bulldogs would so be appreciated.

  15. I'm tired of getting on here and reading new posts about Lumberton, yada yada yada yada......All it's doing is taking away from the Dayton/Waller matchup this coming week.  The LTrain is OVER, they are playing basketball right now so lets just let it GO!  Now lets get to the issue at hand.  Waller has this DT Eddie Brown thats getting alot of hype.  Is he really that good?  What did he do against the previous playoff teams?  They're QB Phillips, what's he capable of?  Good enought to beat Dayton's D?  Are there any other players on Waller that make Waller stand above Dayton?  Two players can't beat a team.  Enlighten me. LTrain? Who?

  16. As a Raider fan, I'm really just amused by your lack of originality.

Note - the true connotation of the L-train is not just referrring to the football team, but to an overwhelming entity that has taken over this town - the players, cheerleaders, the Mighty Raider Band, the Raiderettes - AND the unprecedented community support. Joining the L-train is getting into the spirit of it all - it's being able to discuss the upcoming game with anonymous people all over the Golden Triangle area, it's cars all the way down I-10 that are painted red and blue and loaded with fans, it's a tailgate party that rivals a college game, it's a sea of red and blue, sharing your food and your snacks with people you don't even know, high-fiving anyone who's near, it was the whole crowd going crazy during the half-time Thriller dance a few weeks ago, and it continued last night with that final firetruck escort after midnight when we met the team back at the school... So know that when we talk about the L-Train, we are all a part of it... Lumberton fans and all the other fans in surrounding areas/schools who have so graciously supported and encouraged our team. We've ALL been on the ride...

By all means call yourselves whatever you wish, but know that you are making a comparison to something you can't touch...

    L-TRAIN

Everything else is just a cheap imitation

Just missin'the whole train, lol, man we've got to give you guys a hard time, just wouldn't be right if we didn't.  By no means, BY NO MEANS, hear me, would I ever put Dayton in the same train as Lumberton.  I can't stand it when I hear it, LTrain, ahhhh! That's your symbol and it's great your town can rally behind it and all that good mushy stuff BUT it's ashame we couldn't TOUCH the LTrain one more time this season.  See ya on the basketball courts!

  17. I believe we got hit harder than we've been hit all year.  Hussey DOES NOT FUMBLE but he did tonight because he got HIT.  They were big and strong and the Bulldogs brought the wood tonight.  No excuses, just facts.  We didn't have our "A" game and they did.  Great year for the Raiders though and I can't wait for the ride next year.

As I stated in one of my previous posts thats what Waller has always been known for, hard hitting smash mouth football, and they're good at it.  Welcome to the bigtime LTrain.

  18. im not gonna lie....this whole D-TRAIN thing is startin to piss me off...get a new nick name

DTrain DTrain DTrain, see, now you know how it was getting on everyone's nerves everytime LTrain was said.  Wouldn't have been so bad if it was just mentioned in a few posts but GEEZ! The LTrain got LSMACKED TONIGHT!  Congrats on a cinderella season LTrain!  Come watch the DTrain Friday! Ha Ha Ha ........DTrain, like the way that sounds......

  19. First of all WE bring the helmet too, it's not like LaMarque is as good as advertised either, but i will tell you this, Lumberton will show up against anyone, and we'll prevail, so we'll see YOU in two weeks hopefully!!!!

Never said Lumberton couldn't bring the helmet.  Touchy, touchy, I was just stating that is what Waller is known for and have always been known for hard hitting smash mouth football.  When you make it this far in the playoffs all the teams are good.  Good luck with them country boys from Waller!

  20. Check this out....

Chron's Area Top 5 Teams (I am assumming at the end of the regular season)

    1. Texas City

    2. Lamar Consolidated

    3. Dickinson

    4. LaMarque

    5. Yates

    Dayton just terminated Texas City...

It would be so AWEsome if the Indians can scalp Lamar tonight

    Dickinson is out

Lumberton turned the Cougars into kitty kats

Yates was overrated and the team that beat them is about to get run over a train next week.

    FINALLY!!!

Beaumont area football is sitting on top of the region....

LETS NOT FORGET WOS KNOCKING OFF #1 GIDDINGS!!!!

Good luck tonight to PN-G and WB!!!

This is EXACTLY what i'm talking about with the Chonicle!  They won't give anyone the time of day outside the 610 Loop!  I guarantee you they will write a freakin'ten page article about LaMarque and Texas City now that they've been ousted from the playoffs and never once bring up Dayton or Lumberton.  Those rankings don't mean squat!
