Lamar is not the type of school that can depend on being invited to the NCAA tournament. i dont think moving to a "better" conference will help a whole lot. it will help some, by playing better competition. however, what good what it do if we cant compete with that competition. i think lamar needs to win their slc conference tournament on a yearly basis, and make some noise in the ncaa tournament on a yearly basis as well. just getting to the big dance will not get us recognition, but winning some games in that tournament will. i look at gonzaga, for example i couldn't tell you right now what conference they are in. but they have established themselves as force in college basketball. they were an unknown a few years back, but they made the ncaa tournament every year and won some big games in that tournament. they are no longer cinderella, and i think that exposure has helped them draw some good recruits and stay competitive on a yearly basis. my point for lamar is win the slc tournament every year, make some noise in the ncaa on a regular basis, and get some national tv exposure by playing and winning some ncaa tournament games. then if the time is right and we get invited to a better conference than the southland then we should take that next step to playing with the big schools.

26 three pointers attempted and only 7 made. cant win like that. pretty good season but it could have ended better. hopefully the coaches and players that are coming back next year will learn from all this. gotta close the deal when destiny is in your hands. i still think that coach roc is a good coach and i hope he stays at lamar for a while.

i saw the merrell center on it's website, it is a very nice facility. is it owned by the katy isd or by the city of katy?

i think Lamar will have to win the conference tournament to get into post-season play. hopefully im wrong and they can at least get an NIT bid. does someone know what is the name of the 3rd tournament?

If you choke in front of 200, how can you play on national tv. i heard it was less than 200 in an arena that seats 8000. and some people think lamar has bad attendance.

i attended the lu vs uta game thursday and was wondering what happened to the pep band? does it still exist? just curious.

i thought attendance was pretty good, for a thursday night game on valentine's day. i sat in the student section and saw a good number of students at the game. they also looked like they were having a good time, which i think will make them want to come back. i realize everyone wants to sell out the games every night but remember the montagne center is a very large arena and probably very difficult to sell out. if we can get anywhere between 4000 and 6000 fans every night i think that will be very good.
