1.
That sounds crazy. It is a home game.... and there are two sides to the home stadium. They can do it however they want it just causes problems for big games. Kville always brings a crowd and the circumstances of this game plus a saturday game will bring the attendance way up. We will be there about 4:30. I think its going to take that to get a seat. Just have to bring a pit and tailgait a little. The last time we played Newton in Newton I happened to be working at the school that day. People started showing up at 4:00 and it was standing room only with a line a mile long by game time. I know Newtons stadium is nothing compared to WOS but the crowd should be huge.
u wont have any problem getting a seat...most schools we've played couldnt even fill out the entire visitor side of our stadium....but u may have to wait in line for a ticket at the booth..
 2. we played a superior team tonight...i give sfa props, they were well prepared and took away the deep ball from lamar which imo has kept them in most games this year...but lets face it were not going to hit the deep ones every night, especially with the lack of a running game...and this is the first season in 21 years so i hope people's expectations werent too high, cause we are going to take some beatings lol...agree effort could have been better but im sure the coaches will address these issues..and im a big bevil fan but he simply has to get better at protecting the football...still supporting my cards, hopefully they will put this behind them and put on a good show for the fans next week when they come home to beamont.  8)
 3. imo its going to be a good hard fought game...the stangs and dogs rivalry goes way back to the 80's....always a battle when these two teams get together...both teams are very physical and have a bunch of great athletes..so it should be another classic....wos will need to come ready to play!
 4. i think lamar may have got a little caught up in the hype...the large crowds, the ribbon cuttings, etc....not taking any credit from webber...but after that first score it seemed like the team lost focus and started getting penalties and turning the ball over...two weeks ago in Lake Charles, lamar played an almost flawless game, and i know we cant expect that every week..but i was still proud of the effort and extremely happy we won!  8)
 5.
I cant for the life of me figure out the stupid subject of lamar going FBS. For what? We have had no football for 21 years, now we are back with a great FCS! facility and some good local talent. We can recruit and take athletes from Mcneese and SFA and other schools and in a few years have an opportunity to establish a solid program at the FCS level. We could maybe become like Montana, Appalachian St,and Richmond and have a annually ranked team. In doing so we could have continued local excitement, success, and a full stadium, and compete for a real FCS championship settled on the field.I love texas football at all levels and understand somewhat the desire to play at a higher level , but to what end?  Your dreaming if you think lamar could ever recruit well enough to challenge any big schools. What is the purpose of playing on a FCS level and bringing big schools in to play here.yeah that would be great  TCU 68 Lamar 3,   Texas ATM 51 lamar 10,   Uof H 65 lamar 16  baylor 47  lamar 13, yeah that would be great fun. Hey look at us , look what we did, we went FCS and brought in big name schools for all to see, and in our first three years we went 5-31-0. We beat 2 FBS teams and UL monroe, North tx, and Ark state. wow! now the area fans we could have made happy being a solid FCS team now do not care to support a losing program. Complaints begin, meetings are held, football is to expensive and BOOM right back to 1989. No football. Be glad we are back let us prosper at this level in the SLC. Go Big RED.
this is the smartest post that ive seen so far concerning Lamar football... 8)

Just like coach Woodard would rather have a very agressive player that he has to harness a little to keep under control instead of a passive kid he has to try to motivate to be agressive, I like big thinkers who want to reach instead of those who say we are to small and weak to be better and bigger.  You achieve bigger goals with the former.
no doubt about it, unlv does think big...cant argue with that  8)

 9.
If you were to take this thread and put it next to the thread of a certain 2A team WOS played last year it would look alot like the shoe is on the other foot with SOME of the posters... I'm referring to the refs and their excessive penalties, not stopping the clock, and the being outcoached and outplayed by a smaller school.
go back to bed....grown folks are talking.. :D
 10. great game to watch...hopefully next week we can get our kicker in and let him at least try some XPs...regardless of the refs we need to cut back on penalties and imo both teams made mistakes...some fw fans on here said they didnt play well...well i can promise u that last nights game wasnt the best wos can play either...turnovers,poor tackling at times, and mental break downs happened on both sides...overall though very pleased with wos effort...they never quit and i think they did a lot of growing up last nite...and hopefully this game will give them confidence the rest of the season...to be only a few plays away from beating 4A's #8 ranked team hopefully shows a sign of good things in the future for wos... 8)
 11. thought it was a good game overall for the mustangs...specials teams need a little work and need to cut back on the penalties but im sure the coaching staff will address those things...thought nederland looked ok considering their starting qb was out....#4 salenga is the real deal, very quick....it was a good non-district game and i think both teams got to see some strengths and weaknesses they have.  if both teams keep their heads on straight i see good things in the future for the stangs and bulldogs this season.

imo if we move to FBS and are terrible...u can forget about ppl coming to the games..and u can say bye bye to football once again...by the same token if we are terrible in FCS u can also forget about ppl coming to the games....point being just win baby!!! no matter who we play!!
Yes, a certain element would definitely not come to games if we are losing, but the program isn't dependent on ticket sales entirely. The reason the student fee was passed is so that Football has income no matter what the attendance is. This illustrates another reason no one knows what they are talking about.
i know thats why they passed the student fee, i pay it every semester.  ;)  i just want to see lamar win, win and win some more...no matter who we're playing.

 14. saw the frame for the scoreboard the other day when i went by there to get tickets for mcneese game....it looks a lot larger in person than it does on the webcam...very impressive!  8)
 15. im a student and bought 3 tickets this morning.... 8)
 16. its going to be a good game...cant wait for it... 8)
 17. i think wos and lcm should play, but on the bright side we still have some good competitive non-district games on the schedule...if its final?  i cant wait to watch the stangs play giddings and friendswood...those games will probably be played at neutral sites and have a playoff atmosphere...which is something that may benefit our team later on in the season.
 18. i could see a wos vidor match-up...so far from what i heard wos is looking to play nederland, kirbyville, jasper and barbers hill...but will be needing a 5th non-district game.
 19. best teams ive ever seen: 1987 wos mustangs 1990 aldine mustangs-finished #1 in the nation for 1990
 20.
Man whats gotten into the mustang fans? WOW we lose 2 games early in the season and all of a sudden were not even good enough to beat a team from a terrible district that we wal all over year after year! Yeah they might be a little bit better this year but i heard the same bs last year about their awesome running game and what happened? we hit them in the mouth and they rolled over and played dead! I was on the semi finals mustang team and im telling ya'll that this kinda team we have this year is the most dangerous! We dont have that go to guy for someone to stop! We have that go to team! Ya'll can say what ya'll want to but i know what we have this year and we are clicking on all cylinders and are ready for a LONG run!!!! Watch and see!!!
good post, spoken like a true mustang!!!  prepare to win!!!  Go Mustangs!!!
 21.

So are trying to say that Dan has not done anything this year? I recall that the Mustangs beat Neuman's bulldogs, Huckaby"s bobcats and Crouch's bears. Just some of the coaches that have been nominated as "Coach of the Year"
This is just another WOS area post that has to nominate their own.  I did see where COOP crossed the boundaries.   8) But as nicely as I can put this, if you guys at WOS could learn how to be proud of your accomplishments and at the same time keep them in perspective, you might get some outside the city limits respect. Respect is earned, not solicited.
just admit it no matter what we do you will never respect us.  so we dont need ur respect 8) oh and ill help u with ur reply, "typical arrogant post by another wos poster"  there i did it for you
 22.

My picks for coach of the year for each SETX district: 21-5A     jury still out 19-4A   Kevin Flanigan, Crosby 20-4A  Brandon Faircloth, PNG 21-3A  Bobby McGallion, Silsbee 22-3A  Bob Jones, Shepherd 22-2A  Curtis Barbay, Newton 23-2A  Tony Valastro, East Chambers 23-1A  Alex Davis, Colmesneil
I would have to go with Alverez for 22-2A. No returning starters on off and 4 on def and still compete at a high level losing only to Jasper and WOS in OT on a contraversal call at the end.
how was it controversal?  He didnt get in, get over it!  :D  consider this thread jacked  ;D
 23. 20-4A Brandon Faircloth, PNG 21-3A Chris Stump, BC.  he turned around a hurting program and will likely finish 7-3, and take the third place spot for that district
 24. i think you missed coop he was here earlier.
