  1. You're not kidding. They don't make districts like this one anymore. Back in those days, I thought we played the best football in the country in Southeast Texas....
  2. Yeah. We fumbled inside the 5 during the last minute. That was rough for us, but a great game. I think we'd have made a good run in the playoffs if we'd have won that game, but we went 7-3 and missed out.
  3. No sir. It was a lot of fun to be a part of.
  4. That was my junior year in Jasper and my last one in Texas entirely and getting through that district was tough. At that time, only the top two teams made the playoffs. I believe we came in third behind WOS and PNG in '90.

  6. Jasper @ PN-G should be a good one. Wish I could be there.
  7. Should have read the article first. It's a Monday. 🤣
  8. I'm assuming that he has already done what he needed to in order to graduate from high school. I haven't read anything about that...
  9. I think A&M might have just wanted to have the recruiting advantage of being in a better conference than Texas. I think it'll be good to see some of the old SWC rivalries come back to life other than the A&M/UT one. I'm a Nebraska fan and I wonder how the ripple effect will affect them. Maybe the Big XII should throw the Brinks truck at them and Missouri (among others - Maybe CU?) to strengthen their conference. Maybe they go after Houston, UCF, Memphis, etc. This is nuts.
  10. Oh, I know and I agree with you. Just poking the bear. 😁
  11. Haters gonna hate. 🤣 Looking forward to a good ballgame....
  12. I agree with you, Mike....and I'm 700+ miles away and can't watch the Dawgs if things revert back to the way they were. Those kids need people in the stands and the schools need the revenue.
  13. Thomas is graduating. Both are gone.
  14. Me too!
  15. You're right about that! If they can find a QB that can sling it when we need to, that offense could be really good.
  16. I haven't seen the schedule. Where can I find it?
  17. That's awful. Prayers to Aaron's family. He'll be missed.
  18. Not sure what Jasper's looks like, but I'm guessing it'll be the tough one that they should have played last year with the sites reversed. We're gonna be pretty young, so my expectations aren't as high as they usually are.
  19. I'll take the Bulldogs -14. 😁
  20. You misspelled Lincoln, Nebraska. 🤣
  21. I remember Bill Parcells saying that when he was coaching the Jets.
  22. I wonder whose brain Surratt picked to help him get it going up there. He'll win anywhere he goes and there's no reason to leave Carthage anytime soon.
  23. I'll check that out tonight. I was a manager/trainer in Jasper back in the day and spent probably more time than any student should in a coaches' office from the 6th grade all the way up to when I left before my senior year. Walkoviak's staff was pretty static and most of his staff had been in place for well over a decade at that time. A good sense of humor goes a long way towards building that kind of continuity and the ten or so guys that were that core group were comedy gold. It made being part of that athletic department a lot of fun for me.
  24. Will access to live games be a part of the DCTF membership? Will the annual membership dues increase?
  25. The Longhorns should be able to attract the same level of kids that Alabama or Clemson can get. I don't think UT has been getting those kids since Mack Brown was there. Sark is a good recruiter and should be able to use all of the resources they have to get better players. Coaching them up needs to get better, too, and the kids have to want to be coached. Sark has that "it" factor that should improve the culture and make kids want to play for him. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a fan of his and I want him to do a great job there, but objectively, I think this was the right move for UT. Time will tell...
