Both Jesuit schools have proven the UIL can control private schools. You must live in the corresponding middle school to play for the high school. They're not allowing move-ins. Neither has done much in football. And Strake Jesuit has always been good in hoops.

The Jesuit schools was the foot in the door. Now that the "community" is okay with some private schools in the UIL, let's add the rest of them with restrictions. Once the "community" is okay with all private schools in the UIL, let's relax some of those harsh restrictions that are keeping them from being competitive. This bill is the start of the progression. I fear that the rules will keep getting relaxed until we have full blown recruiting.
  2. ...and the nightmare just keeps getting worse.

I'm sure they'll let the private schools in for all of the other sports, then after a few years, start letting them participate in football and basketball. They will use the excuse..."The private schools have been participating in all other sports for years without recruiting, so this proves they should be eligible for all sports."

I seriously doubt if these "big limits" hold up for more than 3 years. Then the recruiting wars will start.

Stupid question i know but i cant remember HF is Hampshire Fannett right???
I would assume that HF is Hamshire-Fannett, no P.  Be careful, some folks over there are sensitive about that!
Damn right we're sensitive. Don't want to be associated with that yankee state way up there!  :D
  4. No answer forthcoming?

Big Ford, why would you doubt me revealing what school I support. I've stated that plenty of times on this board. It's Hamshire-Fannett (about 99% Christian and so small we don't have a Dairy Queen in any of the four towns that make up the school). You and others that replied seem to be spending an inordinate amount of time trying to profile me. From some of the statements, I assume y'all think I do not believe in God. I'm still baffled as to the basis for that assumption.

octfeb, I used the word spectacle in the more generic term: calling attention to oneself. I did not imply either negative or positive - just the way the celebration rule is written.

I'm also baffled about the fact that none has answered the questions that I posed in a previous post. Instead, all I see is baseless assumptions about my beliefs. How about we try the tactic less traveled: quit focusing on the person asking the question and focus on the question itself. Does a person who prays in the endzone revere his Maker more than a person that gets out of the spotlight to pray? Actually, I could care less about the answer. Let's focus more on Me!  ;D

Maybe, one day, these kids will learn to return the ball to the ref after a score and quit trying to draw attention to themselves.
Just maybe there are a few kids that still revere the Maker.... ;)
Are you trying to say that any kid that does not point to the heavens after scoring a touchdown does not revere his maker?
When a kid hands the ball to the ref then goes to the sideline to pray, does he revere his maker...or does he have to do it in the endzone when all of the attention is focused on him?

Are you serious right now? The kid was giving thanks to the Lord and possible short prayer, reguardless of how long he holds onto the ball. That is downright rediculous for penalizing a player who celebrates a TD by thanking the Lord and pointing to the heavens because he held the ball too long?

    Something isnt right here...
So how long is a player allowed to pray in the end zone? I know some preachers that give 15 minute "short" prayers. Maybe if he gave the ball to the ref, then went to the sidelines and knelt and prayed, I doubt if he would have gotten a penalty. He could have prayed until it was time to go back on the field. There are many ways to give thanks to the Lord without making a spectacle of it.

Maybe if some of the kids kneeled for 2.38 seconds of their life, they would find the endzone more often and their team would get more wins...Englebert.

What if the kids playing defense prayed for 2.4 seconds and the kids on offense only prayed for 2.38 seconds. Would the defense keep them out of the end zone...Big Ford!
