    Bdub3 got a reaction from BMTSoulja1 in Lumberton 38 West Orange-Stark 35/FINAL
I’ve seen the raiders in the past play close games with opponents.  This group of young men and the coaches have figured out how to win close games this year.  They’ve been in quite a few overtime games this year and seemed to have pulled most if not all out with a W.  It’s not always pretty but doesn’t have to be.  Sometimes just not accepting to lose can be contagious and these boys play hard and make a play when they need to. Keep grindin.

    Bdub3 got a reaction from jake94 in Nederland 54 Lumberton 49/FINAL
In my opinion, there are 5 teams this year that are right in the mix for the 3rd and 4th playoff spots in this district. Nederland and Ozen aren’t as good this year as in the past and yes I understand ozen has injured players. PNG, Vidor, and L-town have the squads this year to beat them and it will probably happen a time or two this season. The difference is that Nederland and Ozen expect to win and execute in crunch time. It’s  a culture and a mentality. Lumberton was up last night going into the 4th quarter. They didn’t execute and when they got down by 6 with 4:15 seconds left in the game the body language looked like they expected to lose. But we shall see what happens. As far as Hefner goes, he has all the intangibles. Length, fundamentals, IQ, vision, and athleticism. He will be a force to be reckoned with but the one thing you can do to him right now is bang him around and be physical with him. When he gets that in his game where he can’t be pushed around, watch out. Just my opinion. And I’ve watched him play since he was very young. But this won’t be a cake walk for the bulldogs and panthers this season. Better bring their A game every game this year.

Let me make sure other people understand this.... I have respect for any person that takes time out of their life and coaches the youth.... And bro, you are right about MOST of the shoe sponsored teams... but not all. Coaching talented kids is not hard. Anyone can get a bunch of all stars and go compete with other teams. What are you going to do when you meet a team with even talent or better talent? I see it ALL the time. One team runs plays, the other don't...One team knows how to defend the pick n roll, the other don't. One team boxes out, the other don't...The list is forever long. Show me that you are teaching fundamentals and the actual game of basketball... Then I will be impressed. I am guilty of this myself... I started coaching select ball around 19-20 years old and was always focused on getting the best of the best instead of developing the dedicated kids that would do anything for me or my organization. It is a learning curve and I have met some amazing people doing it and it has helped me learn and develop into a decent young coach.

59 points is the most a team has scored on Argyle all year... this is not going to be an easy win. Silsbee has ALWAYS struggled with fundamental teams that can break the press and play great half court defense. This is the matchup that losing McCain will be obviously severe... That being said, this is the best team Silsbee has ever had... silsbee wins 78-61

Bdub3 reacted to TxHoops in Was Punishment to Hard on Devin Mccain
I would encourage the "adults" of Silsbee to try and ensure the whole point of the punishment is not missed.  Devon is young and has 2 more years of high school ball.  He is a good kid and is loved by many.  Human nature, and especially for kids, is that when you get put on a pedestal for so long, you begin to think you can do what you want.
This thing has gone viral thanks to a guy from Orange who thought it a good idea to post the video clip all over social media.  Now I've seen it on Bleacher Report, etc.  Regardless, I believe this will be largely forgotten by the public in general 2 years from now when he graduates.  Assuming he learns and behaves the way he knows how to on the court.  When you are as supremely talented as he is, you don't need to do a dang thing but play to shine.  He has that advantage over 99 percent of the kids he will play at the high school level.
Conversely, if this opportunity is taken to make him a martyr, the great benefit he can actually RECEIVE from this whole ordeal will be robbed from him.  He won't be as likely to learn anything from this and will be prone to think he is being mistreated.  That would be a HUGE disservice to Devon in my opinion.  Because if he doesn't take this experience and grow from it, and makes any similar mistakes in the future, he could be branded beyond repair and just about as bright a future as you will see around here in basketball will be wasted.
So I beg the adults around him to help him understand what is to be GAINED from this and keep the focus where it should be.  He's a smart kid with a huge heart who has always been very coachable.  That inherently means he's also teachable.  Anyone with a dialogue with him should make sure that's exactly what happens with this.
