So what do you do with that time? Take a deep breath maybe.

Attended the Silsbee game there and it's very nice. Great venue. Don't know the capacity but it's about 40 million times better than that ridiculous Bryan gym where the region tourney was last year. I assume the tourney is there again this year because the girls' was. The WOS Event Center is out at the edge of the galaxy limiting it's appeal.
-
Didn't he play some with the JV last year?
-
😄 I thought that might prompt a reaction. This isn't college basketball after all is it? At the Silsbee game I attended WOS didn't have a pep band. No pep band. They had they're ENTIRE marching band, color guard and dance team at one end, drumline and all, in uniform. It was DEAFENING, like the loudest pep rally. But who can blame them? Celebrating the opening of a remarkable facility. I think we were only the second game ever played there. Hopefully that won't be the norm.
-
Sounds good. It's a great facility. I hope both schools bring pep bands. And with that in mind I'm bringing ear protection.

Silsbee by 22 but it will be closer than the score indicates. I think it will be a lot like the the game HF played against Randall. The Horns got off to a slow start but came back and it was 57 - 49 going into the 4th. Then Randall pulled away. I suspect this game will play out pretty much like that one did, with or without the slow start. HF will be put on the position of playing catch up late and that's a tough thing against a quality team. A lot depends on which Hamshire Fannett team shows up. Will it be the one that played well against the No. 3 team in the state or will it be the one that beat 4th seed Vidor by only 12? Just FYI: Consider what Randall done so far, hammering it's first two opponents by 69 then 71. Those are the widest spreads of anybody in 4A. It kind of puts HF's mere 21 pt loss into perspective.

They better be worried about tonight. They’re the favorite but in already trying to psych the Tigers may jinx themselves. -

It's not a big deal but somebody really should fix it on the UIL bracket page. 28 pt win 24 pt win, so what. The truth is that Palestine barely kept it from being a 40 point win. There were a couple of times when the dam almost broke. -

What is the final score? The UIL brackets show 81 - 57 and has a recap. -

A good win against a good team. Now we need HF to hold up their end so we can have a local quarter final. -
Silsbee vs Palestine Predictions

Yep. And to make it to San Antonio we'll play Wheatley then Washington back to back. A very tall order. Silsbee vs. 21-4A, what a surprise. Unless of course Chapel Hill might somehow pull off the upset of upsets. -

For what it’s worth they now have the best high school facility in the area. That’s got to count for something. If they pack it out it could be a tough place to go play. -

They played a great second half. Dare we hope they have a chance against La Vega. LV isn’t going to throw the ball away every other time down the court. -

Tidbit. Maxpreps has Silsbee ranked 14th with a rating of 23.1 and HJ ranked 22nd with a rating of 19.86. The coaches poll has HJ at 12 and Silsbee at 13. I guess we'll see who's a better prognosticator, man or machine. -

I "accidently" attended the HJ girls game yesterday and I attended the Silsbee girls game tonight. These two teams are mirror images of each other. Ranked side by side. Should be a great girls game. Based on performance versus common opponents the HJ girls have to be considered the favorite. But a Tigers win wouldn't couldn't be called an upset. -

If we're talking Monday the Montagne.... excuse me... the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center... there that's better, is available. No Lamar home games on that day. It's almost exactly the same distance from both schools. Made to order. The girls game is the marquette. The second and third best teams in Region 3. But first Silsbee has to play a good Jacksonville team that split with Madisonville. HJ shouldn't have much trouble with Gilmer. -

See what I mean about LCM being a mystery? Since the Tigers gelled after Christmas LCM is the only district team has been able to hold them under 100 and they did it both times. This game wasn't very competitive but somehow the Tigers only managed 78 points. Some of it was senior subs but the Tigers had only 42 at the half. If you go to Maxpreps and look at the Tiger's schedule it looks like LCM should be the number 2 team in the district. Silsbee handled LCM with relative ease but not with as much ease as they handled everybody else.
