1. Went by the stadium after work and found an opening in the fence so went in and did some looking around.  Here is some observations: the luxury suites are actually going to be in the Montagne Center structure where it comes out toward the stadium and beside the stairwell and elevator shaft and not on ground level with the field.  It appears that the slope beneath it would be to steep for burm seating, would be like a tubing hill with snow; after taking a long hard look at the bleachers on both sides, 15-16k is about all that it will hold.  I'm just not sure there is enough room for a deck on the east side.  Maybe with some big time engineering it would work but there is definately some space restrictions for people ramps and such.  It maybe better to just extend the sides upward with some ramps and a concourse underneath.  I'm not a civil engineer so I don's know how it would work.  You can defintely extend the sides toward the Montagne on both sides beyond the endzone and pick up considerable seating.  A bowl on the south end will work but it will cut out the view of the athletic complex altogether but would be need for seating capacity.  It's going to be real nice and when you look at it you get excited for the upcoming season.  It is easy to picture a full stadium.  Can't wait.
 2.
I noticed that Terror's post disappeared soon after he posted it.  I don't know if he deleted it or the moderator.  The Katfans board likes to trash both Lamar and Texas State, probably because SHSU isn't located in a metro area which will make it hard for them to draw enough fans to go FBS.
I didn't see it.  Can anyone paraphrase what he said?
 3.
I think they'll be able to squeeze around 20K into the stadium if they need to.  I think there's going to be a lot of open area in each corner for people to stand in. If the extend the stands down to the endzones and wrap them a little that would get seating up to around 25K.  Add about 10K or so of upper deck seating and you're looking at a 35K+ seat stadium, about average for stadium in a non-BCS conference.  What's nice is the stadium will be like new and it won't be one of those erector-set stadiums like UCF.
I think making the bowl around the south end is a must, and then take the north side's closer to the Montagne.  That could add about 10-12k which would get you 26-28k capacity.  Then add a large deck on the east side, maybe 8-10 k and you could get up to maybe 38k plus luxury suites which additional ones with an expanded press box could be added on the west side.  Wow, that could be a really nice stadium that could attract some mid and lower tier BCS conference schools to come in.  Don't think you would get a Texas, Florida, USC, Ohio State caliber team with that stadium, but maybe an Ole Miss, Baylor, Iowa State, South Carolina, Minnesota, NC State caliber team.  Just dreaming!
 4. Looked at the webcam this morning and the view toward the Athletic Complex.  Looking at it is doesn't appear their will be much room for burm seating in the South end zone with the two side ramps coming down for each team to access the field and the locker rooms.  With the suites on the north side there will be little or no room for burm seating.  I agree with Coachacola that the total bleacher capacity for the stadium will be around 16k and the 15,300 is the total fan/student seating (bleachers).  That said, with overflow on burm seating it will be hard to get even 20k for a game.  Would still love to see artist rendition of the new configuration and an expanded stadium to it's maximum potential.  Does anyone know if those exist and who may have them?  Hoopinsider Cooper why don't you file a freedom of information request of the athletic office and Simmons to ge these released?

 6.

How many seats are available for purchase in provost umphrey stadium?  There will be approximately 15,300 seats in Provost Umphrey Stadium.
[Hidden Content] I'm not sure if that means capacity is 15,300 or that's how many seats are available to season ticket holders and doesn't count the seats for bands, students, etc.  I'm guessing capacity is around 16K, plus the new suites (if they are actually building them), plus SRO in the south end zone area. It's going to be like a brand new stadium.  And probably within 5 years when they move to FBS they'll expand the stadium to 30K+.
I hope that we have to expand after the second season, but I am an optimist!
They had to update some of the ramps and handicap seating- different regulations than 20 years ago. That's why the seating is cut down some.
So what is the official capacity and where can I see that in print?

That is great . I talked to someone last night and they stated that Lamar is getting luxury boxes built starting today.
Where are they going to build them?
They already had some cement up. The biggest one is for the person who gave the money for the luxury boxes... not sure who that is.
So these are going to be ground level luxury boxes?
YEP!
How tall are these going to be? Like two stories with the top story being even with the hill and the bottom story on ground level?
Don't know.  I would at least think that they would be 2 stories but since it is easier to get info on our espionage program through the CIA than it's been to get info on the statdium I can't say.  If they don't start out being 2 story, hopefully they will build them with a foundation to expand to 2 story.  Like planning ahead would be a good idea.

 12. I watched Mayweather/Mosely 24-7 on HBO and after seeing that I hope Mosely destroys Mayweather.

 14. I hope he come to LU.  From what I saw in the spring game, he would be a great addition to the secondary.
 15. I like where LU ranks on this list but it appears that Rice is conspicuously missing from this list and I don't see UH either.  Would like to know where Rice ranks.
 16. How did this organization get artist renderings of the stadium and we can't get any on the Lamar Athletics site nor in any of our local papers?  There has to be a complete set out there that Lamar should be putting out for promotion purposes.  Geez!  On a side note, I snuck into the stadium after the scrimmage Saturday and it is going to be really nice.  I was told that there will be luxury boxes on the North endzone next to the Montagne.  I could see that it could be expanded easily by bowling the south endzone.  They could also just go up higher on the East and West sides and get significant seating capacity.
 17. Was at the scrimmage.  Was very entertaining and makes me excited for the upcoming season.  Really hard to tell how they will be until they play some toher teams.
 18. Does anyone have the final recruiting list for football this year?  If so post it here or post the link.  Seems like the last list I saw was about 18 or 20 players which seems like not very many.  Thought we would sign at least 25 or so.
 19.
Yeah
How did he do at West Tx A&M this past year and what position did he play?
 20.
Monday April 12th at 3:00pm to be held at Westbrook High School Stadium
That the prelims.  Finals are Thursday the 15th @ 5pm @ WB stadium.  Just got that info today.
 21. Vidor is only playing 4 home games.  And they have a game against a school with a 1000 less students?
 22. Scott Poole of Lumberton ran a 50.41 400 meter at the Orangefield relays.
 23. I saw that they finally put the roster up on the Lamar Athletic site.  Looks like we have good size on the line on both sides of the ball (hope they can play) but definately need to get bigger at linebacker, defensive back and wide receiver.  Also, who are the front runners at running back?  Don't have a whole lot of them on the roster.  Lets hope our new strength & conditioning coach can do wonders.
 24. Can anyone provide the date and times for the boys district 20-4a track meet?
 25. Now that he knows Hoopinsider Cooper is a UH alum that should keep him from wanting to coach there!
