From my understanding this is what was called on the field. The PNG player was in a positions to make the attempt but a Vidor player blasted him before he touched it. This was taken from the NCAA RULES, which also the same rules Texas High School Football follows.

    F. During a free kick a player of the receiving team in position to receive the

ball has the same kick-catch and fair-catch protection whether the ball is

kicked directly off the tee or is immediately driven to the ground, strikes the

ground once and goes into the air in the manner of the ball kicked directly

    off the tee.

    G. Contact by Team A involving a targeting foul (Rules 9-1-3 and 9-1-4) or other

personal foul that interferes with the receiver’s opportunity to catch a kick

may be ruled either as interference or as a targeting or personal foul. The

15-yard penalty is enforced at the spot where the dead ball belongs to Team

B or at the spot of the foul, at the option of Team B.

My understanding is after the ball goes 10 yards it is a free ball unless fair catch is called. You can't get a fair catch protection without calling fair catch. That's the whole purpose of doing an onside kick. But at this point it really doesn't matter. They weren't able to get the ball without keeping the officials out of it. It was executed well just didn't go there way. Time to rest and get ready for PAM.

I agree it probably was a bad call. I watched the cal many many time from 4 different angels. I still to this day do not know what the call is. I do know this. The ball just eclipsed the 10 yards needed to touch the ball. The only thing I could guess is the ref had a bad angle and thought it did not make the 10 yards, I am not sure one news source said it was an illegal touch, another place I read some sort of illegal block type deal. I have a good friend who works with TASO. I will shoot him a copy and ask his opinion on the matter. He can probably find out what the call is as well. This all being said. And assuming that Vidor would have scored. PNG still shut them out the whole second half. The reason was a simple but really good defensive adjustment that changed the dynamic of the stout Vidor offense. Vidor is one of the top offenses in district for a reason. They are difficult to play. Robanadana is right about the fact that its hard to stop when you never see it. Lets face it Vidors execution of it is stellar this season. They will be tough for any team in the playoffs!!!!

Agreed, Vidor not being able to keep their on side kick before half and not being ready for the PNG onside kick after the half was a big momentum change. And for what ever reason the ball distribution in the 2nd half was not very good. PNG was the better team that night. That's the way it goes sometimes. Hope to see both teams make deep playoff runs.

You got blown out two weeks ago too. Both of the teams that had a decent passing game put 40+ on Vidor and PAM will do the same at the end of the season. Vidor only averaged 14 points per game in those two. You're not stopping anybody and the gimmick offense seems to only be working on the lesser teams this year.

That gimmick offense abused y'all a few years ago and went 3 deep in the playoffs. Y'all knew what was coming an still couldn't stop it. Even with 11 in the box. It's just a smash mouth offense. Just saying.

Jealous? I would hope they have more PA players since ya know....it's where they are from? The post asked my thoughts and I gave them. If PAM had injuries and lost to both MC teams you can bet we would hear all about it.

Obviously you didn't get the humor. An we all know your on your 8th string quarterback.

If they go 34-0 in district then I'll be impressed. It's not like they played a full on Nederland team and they escaped PNG. Years to come will get tougher but.....we shall see

Everybody has injuries. Good grief how many times are we gonna here that excuse. Don't be jealous that PAM has more PA players than PNG & Nederland.

Congratulations to the PNG team on a great game. Last night, I witnessed something special, but it happened after the game on the Vidor track side of the field. PNG's #22 Logan LeJeune, bringing his mother with him, came over to compliment Maverick Quirante as a fellow athlete and person. He introduced his mother and was gracious and respectful to Maverick and his family, and by extension, to the Vidor team. Hats off to this young man and his family for being a gracious winner after being a fierce competitor on the field. I think we need to keep in mind that the quality of a person is found in the quality of the person, and not measured by what town we are from, our win-loss column, out stats, nor our talent level. Although those may factor in developing into successful and contributing adult citizens, all that is just for fun... spice for life. Being an elite athlete, LeJeune, could easily have gone back to his locker room, teammates, friends and home to bask in his great victory, which it was. But in his winning, he stopped to acknowledge his fellow competitor's efforts... what an impressive young man. I wish the best to LeJeune and his team from here on out!

    That's good stuff!

but I am so get over it lol  It was a great game in first half, that is how two good teams should play, one scores the other answers right back. This board is for just that smack talking so don't get your panties in a knot it is all in fun.  I think the change JM made at qb helped yall out a lot the kid can ball. Would love to see yall get another shot at Barbers Hill. Would make an interesting game for sure. Good luck to yall here on out.

I love to talk smack too, but when we win I accept the congrats. Congratulate them back an move on. Good Luck the rest of the year.

Been telling people about RJ. He and my son were on PNG youth teams together for several years. I know he's been there since atleast 2nd grade. Watch what he does to PAM next week. That's the game I've been waiting for.  Proud of all of our friends over there at the Rez.

I would definitely like to see y'all against PAM. Should be a good game. But I'll be at my Pirates homecoming. Good Luck!

I have no team in this fight but does Vidor ever commit penalties or give up touchdowns legitimately? Seems like I always see touchdown refs, mid county refs, or something to that extent

Whatever dude, I was at the freshman game last night an sat on the PNG side only to watch the PNG fans loose thier minds on some calls the refs made. It's a football game! Get over it.

It is Neumann's and the School Superintendent's job to make sure that the child's living where his paperwork says he lives and that ALL the proper documentation is in place BEFORE the child can play. Otherwise, everyone with any money can be Katy and draft whatever player they want from whatever school they want. The desire to win superceded good sense and the Leday kid (who could've probably been playing legally by now) and the rest of the children at Nederland High suffered for it, period. If there were no foul, there would be no penalty. Perhaps a lot of nederville's winning is based in similar incidents and this is the first one they got caught at?

Rob your about to get the Nederland Minions all upset!

THINGS WE WILL LEARN FROM THIS GAME !

REALITY CHECK FOR THEM PIRETTES .
    1. Vidors' Offense will prove to be a lot softer than advertised and will be shut down by a real defense ( the likes of which they have not seen ) ! THIS ISN'T JV GIRLS
    2. Vidors' ragtag secondary will get taken to school ! (Cornerbacks will have the loss riding on their shoulders)
    3. Vidors' O-line will get a taste of humble pie as they get knocked on their cans PLAY AFTER PLAY
    4. Just another year of Vidor talking smack but not being able to produce. Turns out to be just that ; SMACK . Different year but same old story.
    5. Vidor QB #23 is not his brother . By NO means. (wanna be)
    6. Vidor running backs #3 & #5 are a couple of jokes and will be put in their rightful places come Saturday morning. ( playing soft defenses pads their stats)
    7. Faircloth will remain the supreme coach in this match-up ! (Mathews schooled again)

    * I can not wait to see the look on Vidors fans faces when they get smoked but they are used to losing (been doing it for years ITS THEIR TRADITION)LOL
