  1. What SETX 3AD1 teams should be watched that aren't on the DCTF Pre-season top 10? I'll be honest, I didn't pay much attention to 3A before we dropped so, other than the teams close to my area, I'm only familiar with whomever I've seen in the playoffs recently. Here's the DCTF top 10. Who do y'all think will take it all the way?
  2. Interesting. I don't understand the favoritism towards Gilmer however. They are always tough, but I'm not sure they will be able to make a run to state this year. I guess you can never tell though.
  3. We're not worried about the previews! Hope everything goes great and you're recovery is speedy! Prayers!
  4. Yaay for participation parades!! At least there would be free candy!!
  5. Congrats to both teams! Congrats to WOS for another great season, and Pleasant Grove for taking their first ever football state championship! I knew when I saw this team in district, that they were the real deal, and those front 7 were monsters. The biggest ones play both ways, and seem to never wear down. Truly an awesome team to watch play. The difference here was, obviously, the passing game. The truth is, whether PG fans care to admit it or not, I don't think anyone, including themselves, knew exactly how good the PG passing game was. I knew that it was there, and it was effect. I knew it could keep a defense honest, but they've only had 1 really close game (Gilmer), and an entire season to build off of that. Needless to say, it was pretty good, and could have been better. Harmon missed a couple of wide open receivers. Another difference, was PG's ability to get to the QB. I see a lot of shade thrown towards the coaching staff for not running more pass plays, but Chaka was not on at all after taking some of the licks he took, and with the QB off like that, you cannot hope to wear a defense down at all. I mean think about it. PG's strength is their defensive front, your QB has taken some shots and missed on passes, his confidence in his throwing ability is not there because of this. You have to try and get something going to give your QB and team some momentum, while attempting to wear down the PG defensive front. While doing that, you have to take into account that the PG defensive front is getting good penetration, and getting to the QB quickly. So now you're limited to short, quick passes, with inconsistency at the QB position, into the PG secondary. It's easy to stand and criticize when something doesn't work. Deep down, we all know Coach T did exactly what he thought was needed to put his team in the best position to win. I think he had a good game plan, personally. But, PG was prepared in every aspect of the game. They were the better team, and their coach had them ready. Gibson called a heck of a game, from the very first play call (as you call could tell). I think he's a very good up and coming coach, and has a bright future, whether at PG or wherever he decides to go. Again, congrats to both teams! I won't be following you WOS bunch as much next year, as we're bumping down to 3A. Good luck to you guys nonetheless!
  6. Either way, I will be seeing one of these 2 teams next week. Excited for the state championships but I am sure not ready for football season to be over. It seems to take so for it to roll back around.
  7. State Championship should be pretty interesting either way this year. I'm picking the Hawks to beat Graham, and I'm really unsure about this game. WO-S has the pedigree, but man they've been letting some teams hang around for the past few weeks. Hope they don't let the wrong one hang around.
  8. So who's going to win? I like to know these things before the game is played.
  9. Oh no they're definitely D1. I can feel the WR tears from here.
  10. Tatum going down, West Rusk coming up, Atlanta going down. Welcome to the 3A life Atlanta.
  11. Silsbee dropping to D2 should be interesting. Carthage was only 9 kids from hitting that D2 line.
  12. And it still wasn't close lol. I got there 1hr45m early, and there was a line almost to the concession stand, once we got to the end of the line, we were in the Northern most corner of the bleachers. Everything was full.
  13. The Gilmer faithful will tell you how they see it fit, but as someone that had no dog in the fight, and was there, I can tell you that Carthage stopped Carthage in the first half more than anyone. The QB was inconsistent, missed wide open targets. They had several false starts that killed drives, because believe it or not, Carthage plays 10 yards at a time, and don't mind using all 4 downs to get it, as opposed to some lethal spread teams that try to bury you quick. So false starts, especially in a game as big as the Carthage/Gilmer game, hurt. Especially on 3rd and short. Carthage was down at half, then came out and outscored Gilmer 35-0 in the 2nd half. Both teams play with a little bit different emotion in this one, than most games the rest of the season. Reason being, is it's so big. They give our scholarship money, Pigskin Bob is there, and it's a HUGE crowd. Too big for Gilmer's stadium anyways.
  14. Maybe, maybe not. I think they could definitely compete. All speculation though.
  15. You talking about the (11-4) Carthage team, that was heavy underdogs against Navasota, and lost their sophomore stud RB (Ingram) the week before to an ankle injury? I mean, they did lose 4 games. Weren't even a first seed. That team, wouldn't make a pimple on this team's... You know. Carthage literally just put up 64 points in the first half against a good Silsbee team in the qtr final round of the playoffs. This team is something very special.
  16. And I'll be happy for you guys. Could be one of the biggest upsets of all time. We all remember 2010 Brownwood. I can happen.
  17. You can join us after tonight! Carthage is just a treat to watch. In a way, I hope for Silsbee's sake it's a good, close game. But, at the same time, I hope you get to see why they're ranked #1 in the state. Good luck to you guys! I just pray for a clean game, and the players can leave it all out on the field! What a great sport this is to be able to watch and play!
  18. I dunno how to pick on WO-S games anymore. Every game I pick that could be close, is a blowout, and ever blowout I pick, ends up being close.
  19. People getting a little worried, all these dad-gum East Texas folk start popping up.
  20. I thought you were talking about Lion70.
  21. Yea I forgot the site I was looking at didn't post the scores of the Carthage/Gilmer game.
