  1. Well it's what I keep hearing on all the forums lol. Everyone is having the best team they've had in years. Crazy how that happens all of a sudden. Just read on another forum however that Malakoff will be starting a sophomore QB, as their JR starter has moved. That will shake things up a bit.
  2. Hmm. Not a lot of 3A talk happening just yet.
  3. I'm really liking how things are coming together at Texas. They've landed a big name OL, several great receivers... Johnson is going to get a good redshirt year to grow, and he will fit into this system perfectly. We've got a couple of lineman transfers coming in as well. Hook'em!
  4. Well, judging by what he's said, he said his team has an enrollment of (583) and they're not afraid to play against anybody, and they've had issues with bigger schools scheduling them. Sounds just like West-Orange considering WO-S enrollment was (581) at last snapshot, and that's the closest of any school to 583, I'm not sure who he's talking about. Wharton? Lorena? Hmm...
  5. It helps when the team we're playing isn't massive, too haha. Samples had to take a beating that game, and he was playing both ways. Y'all had a good squad. Not sure what happened to y'all against Celina. They did have a beast in the middle though.
  6. Well, it's difficult to tell who someone's team is when they don't put a picture on their avatar, but I notice you have a habit of commenting on WO-S posts, so I assumed. But, you know what they say about assuming.
  7. That's when injuries come into play, as well.
  8. Y'all have a great team, system, and coach. I wouldn't take that away from y'all. But, competition wise, as good as y'all are, it would make a huge difference when playing a bigger school, especially consistently. It's different schedule a big school once or twice in pre-district, but to play that consistently for what could be 14 games? That would take a lot out of a team that plays, even if a small number, of 2-way athletes.
  9. It's not about fear. Fear has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's about playing teams with your caliber of talent. WO-S is great, but they can not be scared to face a team like Lake Travis all they want to be. They can be as prepared as they want to be. It's not going to change the outcome of the game when they're playing a constant rotation of D1 athletes. The classifications have nothing to do with fear. It's about playing teams from schools like yours, and each team having similar opportunity. I understand your logic when it comes to 11 on 11, but I don't think the system is "watered down." You can play whomever you wish to schedule in pre-district, there's where your "fear" would be an issue. But when it comes to competition, it needs to be broken into classifications where everyone gets a fair shot. Twice the kids, means twice the opportunity to find better talent. You gotta remember there's a lot more than football that goes into UIL classifications as well.
  10. This will be interesting. Everyone is having their best team in a decade this year apparently.
  11. That's something an imbecile would say. You have twice the kids to choose from with such number. Using your logic, that's like saying Hardin should play Katy. It's 11 on 11, so it's obviously fair.
  12. Watered down it may be, but I think it's a lot more fair than a school with 505 kids competing with schools that have 1149 kids.
  13. Carthage, without a doubt. I can't believe this is even a discussion. WO-S had a great team in 2016, but they never once faced a team with the caliber of offense OR defense that Carthage had in 2017. Not only that, but despite the fact that WO-S has a great Coach in Cornell Thompson, I still give a coaching edge to Carthage, but a decent margin even. Surratt has more state championship wins than playoff losses, think about it. That 2017 Carthage team was a monstrous team, loaded with ridiculous talent. You talk about the WO-S defense, look at the Carthage defense. They gave up points, but man did they have a solid group. That was arguably the best LB core I've seen in 4A. Let's not even get started on that offense, with Ingram in the backfield. Truly stellar groups on both teams, but I definitely give Carthage the 3 score nod, and don't feel any remorse doing it. They were just that good. Even WO-S didn't dominate their state championship opponent to the extent that Carthage did theirs. It was pitiful what Carthage did to Kennedale last year, and after Kennedale posted videos on Facebook talking so much smack about Carthage. Hopefully they learned when they took that thumping from a real football team.
  14. We have a good back of our own, as well. Check him out in your spare time. Jawan King - Atlanta RB - Highlights
  15. I've watched some film on that kid. He's pretty impressive. I'm just wondering how playing both ways will effect him, especially late/post-season. Spring Hill had one of the best backs I have seen, not the fastest, but an absolute monster on both sides of the ball (Kiante Stoker). All we heard was how good he was, and he lived up to it. They talked about how he never got tired though, and that's where they were wrong. In a game that Atlanta was down 21-0 at the end of the first in, Stoker finally got tired, close to the end of the 3rd quarter. It went from taking 2-4 guys to tackle him, to him getting shaken off tackles, and being tackled by one man. Atlanta ended up pulling out the comeback, to win 56-49, and securing themselves a playoff spot. It's still crazy see the impact of such an athlete on the team. Spring Hill had one of, if not the best offense I saw last year. But when he got tired, it took the wind out of the offense it seemed. Here's some highlights. Check out this dude's legs. He was a hawse, for sure. Kiante Stoker Highlights
  16. They are definitely the clear favorite. But we're talking D1, D2 can do it's own thang.
  17. Atlanta QB - Andrew Samples JR Offensive Highlights
  18. He's back. He's a baller for sure. The real guy to watch though was our RB, but not sure how he did against Woodville in the scrimmage, or if he even played. If you thought the QB looked good then, you'd have sure enjoyed him late season. He really turned it on midway through the year and turned what looked like a rough year for Atlanta, into a team that fought and scratched their way into the playoffs. We were a one and done, but if you had seen us early in the season, you'd have been sure impressed with what we accomplished late.
  19. I wish I could have made it to the scrimmage last year when we scrimmaged Woodville, especially now. Which, we had no idea we'd be moving down at that point. Plus, it was on a Thursday in Carthage, at like 2 p.m., so making that was going to be a challenge.
  20. You ain't ever lied. The their facilities are so nice. They spare no expense it seems.
  21. Yea, I keep hearing from a lot of Franklin guys that this could be their best team ever.
  22. It should be interesting. Woodville, I hear, is supposed to be stout this season, so how them and EC pans out really determines where their challenges will come. I think Franklin wins D11, and that puts the potential matchup of W11/W12 in round 3. All depends though. I don't think W11 is a gimme with Diboll dropping down. It will be tough.
  23. Especially in the Kilgore and Carthage regions.
