McLovin, I realize that this is your personal choice as to who should represent Silsbee on it's Mount Rushmore, but you are way off on your perspective of prominent Silsbee athletes. I would have Stud for sure and maybe Chris and Mark, but no Shan.

Aggies, the man could do it all. Maybe he didn't make it huge, but he still left his mark.

You say MAYBE Mark Henry?!?  The Strongest Man Alive?!? You are way off with anyone other than Mark. I understand this is the football forum, but there were no boundaries in the question like in the other threads. I'd say Chris is the maybe, but just because I don't know much about him.

  2. Jarvis '08 is better than Jarvis '09.  I vote him co-MVP with Robinson.  Jacoby Turner is not far behind.

After what I saw tonight, I might support a Jarvis / Jacoby co-MVP.

i'm all about a tri-MVP.  without Shannon's performance, HJ could've won this one by double figures.

Wow.  Doesn't that work both ways?

  3. I figured it was you, but wasn't sure.  As far as making excuses, you only noted the absence of players on the court in light of an inexperienced big man.  Way to handle the obstruction, "Hey man. you're gonna have to move I can't see...Officer."  Haha, let's us at home know how thick the popo's were.

  4. Congrats on a great game Hawks.  I am of the young guys hitting some shots and FT's late in the game when the tide could have turned.  HJ wanted it more tonight and they took it.  Silsbee was red hot from downtown and that is what kept it close when HJ looked as if they would pull away taking a 7 point lead early in the 4th  and then taking a 6 point lead late in the 4th.  Silsbee just kept banging in the long ball.  They must have hit 10-12 of them tonight!!!!  I saw nothing but class from a MOST of the Silsbee players after the game.  You guys fought hard tonight.  Prentice not being there was a big difference for the Hawks.  The real difference was attacking the basket and not settling for jump shots.  Also making a higher percentage of FT than they have made lately.  Congrats on being District Champs for the 24th time!!!!!!

I will grant you that a Silsbee player missing had a significant impact.  At the same time, I will also say that this was offset substantially by the  Silsbee point guard going 5 for 6 from NBA three point range and the fact that the HJ point guard was out of school today with the flu and had to be spelled regularly due to his inability to breathe.  Can't blame the refs because they were the same three that did the last game.  Congratulations to Shannon Robinson on an outstanding performance.  At the same time, I also must say that one particular player for the home team was spouting trash at the fastest and most consistent pace possible and did so even when his opponent had his back to him going down the court.  He made a special point of catching up and getting his face about 3 inches from his opponents face and continued his tirade.   That was all pretty impressive until he missed 3 of 4 crucial free throws in the closing minutes.  I noticed the "conversations" dwindled substantially at that point.  There is probably a lesson to be learned in this instance.

    Yeah, make the free's.
