  1. Seems to me Nederland and PNG might be running very similar offenses now. MCM is about to be a bullfight - power runs and disciplined defense. Going to be mirrors of each other.
  2. You better believe it. We’re hiring Mr T and Chuck Norris next.
  3. No sport has nearly the aggregate amount of emotion around it like football. When PNg won state in baseball (also, I’m just realizing PNG won state in two sports in a six year stretch - That’s pretty cool) everyone was extremely excited and proud. But it wasn’t even close to the near-religious, transcendent breath of joy that opened up across the entire PNG community when we won in football. Football is king at most schools. If coaches chose their jobs only on lack of pressure, they’d all be fighting for non-football spots.
  4. I haven’t heard as much about the Katy guy, but re: the Desoto coach, the idea of a local guy who was DC at the best team in the state last year sounds too good to be true. Maybe when we learn more about the Katy guy, he’s just as good. If I had a vote, I’d be falling over myself to hire the de Soto guy.
  5. Is that a prediction or an announcement?
  6. Is that based on good info?
  7. If it ain’t broke, don’t schedule Klein Oak
  8. It doesn’t. Waco is so much closer to Dallas than the District 8 teams, and isn’t nearly as close to Houston as the district 8 teams. The entire concept of “regions” demands at least some geographic logic.
  9. Now that you mention it, the district list is just in alphabetical order. I didn’t notice that.
  10. I’m assuming these are listed in order. Pre-season Klein Oak Beaumont United La Porte District Dayton Huntsville Montgomery Montgomery Lake Creek Nederland New Caney West Fork Splendora Anyone know anything about Klein Oak? I’m slightly sad we don’t get our annual PAM game.
  11. I think Neumann started in 1993. In his first seven years, he was 4-3 vs PNG, and it only got worse for PNG from there.
  12. Well, they’ll have to actually travel, is what I mean, probably won’t get their Dallas area refs, and probably will have a smaller crowd than they get at At&T, facing a not-at-all smaller PNG crowd.
  13. And it does seem like things ended up good for Liberty Hill. I don’t know if the UIL was trying to treat them well, but they get to stay in the district closest to them (almost no travel) even though it makes their district have 9 teams, leaving a neighboring district (that isn’t very far) with only 6. And, to top it off, nearly all of LH’s recent competition in region 3 (all of the regional semifinalists except for Richmond Randle) got moved to the other side of the bracket when they moved over.
  14. District 11 (currently region 3) should be in either region 1 or region 4 (if in region 4, move district 14 to region 1). And why would Liberty Hill be in district 11 (9 teams) instead of district 10 (six teams, and makes roughly as much geographic sense)? District 4 (currently region 1) should be in region 2. District 8 (png & Ned, currently region 2) should be in region 3. The right solution was under their noses. How do we go from a Houston area school to a Dallas area school? There are two entire districts closer to Dallas that could be in those northern regions. How does Liberty Hill moving into our region bump us to the entire other side of the bracket? Regardless, PNG will be a good team and this alignment makes for some interesting matchups, both in district and in the playoffs.
  15. To go to the trouble of getting TD on board, only to not hire his recommendation - I’m not saying there would be a riot, but it might be smart to buy stock in a pitchfork company.
  16. Did you see how many Hispanics play for PnG? Have a look at the roster. They’re a strength. With a good program, everyone can excel.
  17. And it doesn’t actually equate to many more players. I’d estimate for every 50-75 kids, there might be one player. I haven’t done the math - that may be too high. So, there might be four more players at png because of that difference. And, that doesn’t even mean these are good players. But, one of those extra four might be Roschon Johnson. So it might give us a slight advantage, but most of the time, only slight. Nederland was about 100 bigger than us throughout the 2010s, and probably before, since they always tended to go d1 over us.
  18. Just more doodling on this one: With FBM likely out of 9-5a2, I’d like png to keep them in their preseason. so I’d do: PAM Fort Bend Marshall Barbers Hill / Crosby
  19. That’s not the same as Dodge being hired by BC to consult on the selection
  20. Not saying it definitely will happen the same way for Nederland, but no one expected the PNG results for PNG. Anything can happen.
