Durant agrees to $60 million deal with Nike 02:23 PM CDT on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 By CHIP BROWN / The Dallas Morning News [email protected] AUSTIN – Former Texas national player of the year Kevin Durant has agreed to a seven-year, $60 million endorsement deal with Nike that includes a $10 million signing bonus. It is the second-largest endorsement contract for an NBA rookie behind LeBron James' $90 million deal with Nike in 2003. "After eight weeks of diligent work between [Nike senior director of pro basketball] Lynn Merritt and I, we have structured a footwear and apparel deal for Kevin that becomes the second-largest rookie deal in basketball and includes a line of signature products," Durant's agent Aaron Goodwin, said in a statement. Craig Zanon, vice president of Nike Basketball, said, "Kevin is an amazing talent both on and off the court and we are happy to be partnering with him as he starts his NBA career." Goodwin also negotiated James' deal with Nike before James let Goodwin go two years ago to form his own marketing company. According to published reports, Durant turned down a seven-year, $70 million deal with Adidas because of a relationship with Nike dating back to Durant's AAU days in eighth grade. Durant has also inked endorsement deals with Upper Deck and EA Sports.

Coach Stowers will need to find a replacement at QB after the graduation of Brandon Williams (Texas A&M). 5 starters return to an offense that averaged 30 points per game in 2006. The biggest returning starter is RB Derrick Hall. In ’06 Hall was a dual threat, rushing for 550 yards and as a receiver had 450 yards. The offensive line will be a talented group led by Zaybrion Barnwell and Parnell Wells.
