1. I believe thay can't start recruiting until the Middle School season ends. (I believe TAPPS now has similar recruiting rules as UIL.) Also the Coach is prohibited from making public statements about specific recruits. You'll probably have to get your information from reliable sources like SETXsports.com , "word on the street" , and "I heard that so and so (for example My neighbor's 2nd cousin said that Little Dove will be at HJ next y.............)

It is done across the board in professional and college sports and I promise you those guys are busier than I am and it took me a total of ooohhhh four minutes to vote. Yes it can be done in early January.
I don't think the NFL has a big banquet to name MVP's or rookie of the year, don't they just announce the winners to the media?  I suppose if there was not a Willie Ray Smith banquet, where tickets are sold to parents, players, and coaches, they could announce the winners in December.
I also questioned the timing of the Willie Ray Smith Banquet in the past, but when you consider that the Football season doesn't end until sometime around the 3rd weekend of December it makes more sense to really do it right. Nominations from the coaches, naming finalists, allowing the voters to properly analyse the nominees and cast ballots (except Gabe who already made up his mind during 2 a days), the difference between late January and early February is insignificant. I would hate to see the Award disappear the way the Babe Zaharias did because of a few weeks.
 3. BlueDove - Have you discussed your concerns with the Varsity Basketball coach in private ? I'm sure the coach is aware of your son's ability and potential. A little communication in private possibly would answer your concerns. Then if you need to "rent" that house from AAW, go for it. Hope your sons do well and continue to enjoy playing the game.
 4.
In an unexpected twist I think it may be the PNG boys who end up pulling the starters out pretty soon.
Nice..

 6.
Some constructive criticism, I even hate to call it criticism, maybe helpful advice would be better, anyway too much time passes without the score being known if you are just joining the broadcast.  I joined the broadcast in 2nd quarter and it was about 8 minuters before I heard the score.  If you guys read this here is some helpful advice I was given during an internship while in college back in the late 70's, these guidelines are still relevant.  Always make it a habit to give the score and time on clock during the following situations during the course of the game.        -After a 1st Down        -After change of possession (see below)         -Going into and out of a time out        -At the end and beginning of quarter or half        -After a turn over        -Any other time that you feel necessary. Keep in mind no one complains when the score of time left to play is given too often. I do appreciate your work, overall a nice job of describing game, just need to get the score in a little more often.  I am a SE Texas native but now live in Kansas and this is how I get my high school football fix because Kansas HS football leaves a lot to be desired. BTW....  29-8  WOS over Silsbee at half.
You should put on a seminar, with all that know how.  You'll go far................  ;D
 7. According to KFDM there is a rumor is that f is a recruit and ineligible.

 9.
Our Offense is the real deal, but if you can't stop anyone its a mute point. If we don't improve on Defense QUICK, its going to be a long rest of the season. I know most of you love PNG being down, but it doesn't bother me. Love us or hate us. But if we don't make the playoffs, PNG Fans will be the biggest supporter of the teams that do.
That has been proven for the past 40 or so years for sure. PNG loves the playoffs and if they aren't in the playoffs, they are supporting the rest of the triangle, I guarantee.
Many believe it should be kept out of the local paper.
Yes, but Neuman could have stated, "No comment" or "we are handling this in house". I still say this isn't something you really go to print on, but I am not in that business.
I agree AAW, Neuman should have taken the high road and not allowed the PA News to quote him. He sure was quick to defend himself to the public via the newspaper. (An act of a guilty man ???) Sounds to me like he popped off to the player about his dad and lost the respect of a portion of the team.
 11.
I'd like to hear everyone's comments on these stats: Matt Burnett's record his last 5 seasons at PNG, 2004 - 2008:  29 - 22 overall 2 - 2 playoffs 2 District or Co-District Championships 1 Losing Season Larry Neumann's record his last 5 complete seasons at Nederland, 2005 - 2009:  29 - 24 overall 3 - 4 playoffs 0 District Championships 1 Losing Season These records are VERY similar yet one coach was "reassigned" and the other is generally regarded as one of the best coaches in the area.  Why the discrepancy???
Interesting.... IMHO - Going back to the 60's PNG has always set the football bar a lttle higher than Ned. I wonder if you compare Football staffs of these two schools, what percent are "homegrown" and how many are "outsiders" ? I would guess that Ned is significantly more homegrown, but not sure.  PNG seems to have the guts to hire from outside over the years more so than Ned.

According to your fan base, you're sooooooooo  good you don't need to prepare, your team can take the field and just react and you'll still beat over 90% of your foes by 3 - 4 TD's.  ;)
According to one, that theory only applies on a dry field. ;) ;D
Hee hee hee.  (I had forgottn about that one)  ;D
 13.

Wow!  All 20,000 soccer fans in the US were pumped.
troll You know what I find exciting: Baseball. Anytime you can give me 6 minutes of action squeezed into 4 hours, sign me up. You know what's thrilling: the pick off move. You know what gets me going like 5 hour energy: Watching a relief pitcher warm up.  You want to see a prime athlete: 1st basemen. You want to see another sport loaded with action: football. An average play lasts all of 5 to 7 seconds, and in that time they work sooo hard, they get almost a minute to recover for the next play. And these guys work so hard during a drive, they only have to play on one side of the ball. AND since there's so much action, theses guys get SIX timeouts EACH, TWENTY two minute tv timeouts, and breaks for quarters and halftime. I'm exhausted just thinking about resting that much. The Wall Street Journal analyzed 4 televised games this past season and found out that the ball was actually in play for 11 minutes.  11 MINUTES! That's action! A friend of mine works at a bar in Austin and they've had to open at 6:30 in the morning several times and have had people waiting in line. And it's like that all over the US. In Beaumont, not so much. Which is surprising since the Golden Triangle is seen throughout the state as an area on the forefront of everything cool and innovative...   Do I think that this World Cup won over tons of fans in the US? No. I'm not that naive. But what it did do was expose soccer as a viable second tier sport behind the big three.  And you what, these fans are young, multi-cultural, and most importantly PASSIONATE.  Footbal and basketball aren't going anywhere, but baseball is losing fans by the boatload. And it's current fanbase is old, old, old. Finally, I hope you realize that when a football game ends 21 - 14, that these teams didn't score 21 times and 14 times respectively.  You realize that that this was 3 to 2, right?
I think soccer has just seen its first SLAM DUNK!  ;D
 14.
Will the jury hurry up and make a decision, Monte needs a decision before school gets out. :D If we are going to continue to post B.S. how about this. Everything hinges on the 45 minute Flag Football game next week. That will determine the starter. Funny stuff. Bottom line, best player will be on the field !
;D Good Post.
Do you mean like Jasper, Silsbee?
 18. Nederland & all of 20-4A got a pretty good wake up call from last nights results. Hopefully this will work to their advantage the next few days. 4th place teams have taken down the champs before, so don't chalk any wins or losses until the fat lady has sung.
 19.
I think heads should roll. Lets start with eagle99.  You are fired from being a fan.  You are with us or you are against us.  "Us" includes the coach so you are fired. Now for your other job.  The work day is not over and you are charged with personal use of the internet.  Therefore you are once again fired. The coach with 100's of wins and numerous playoff appearances to his credit is spared.  He also gets an award for being a positive influence on the young people he comes in contact with. Congrats Coach.  Keep up the good work and congrats on almost taking a team (that in most years at your school would have made up the majority of your jv team) to the playoffs.
;D Thats good.
 20.
if the standings in 20-4a and 19-4a stay like they are now what would the playoff matchups look like can someone help out with this or is it number 1 seed from 20-4a plays 19-4a 4 seed and 20-4a 2 seed plays 19-4a 3 seed and so forth
Thats the way I see it here are the uil brackets.
