  1. I think you may be right {for 1999} but if only one team would have gone to the playoffs, it would have been PNG and they were outright district champs in 2003, beating Ozen to put Ned in the playoffs.
  2. Good Question? The outright Disrict champ would { for sure} be the team with the best district record, which was the case in 2003 with PNG. Png had one loss in district and all the other teams had two. Now I think it’s up to each district how they handle ties. In 224A, head to head record is the 1st tie breaker. Then in a three way tie it goes by points for the three teams involved. I know this is how they determine who goes to the playoffs and how the teams are seeded. But I don’t know with a tie if a undisputed district champ is crowned. But in 2003 there were no ties, Png was the undisputed District champ. See article below from 2003 season PN-G relishes outright 20-4A title By TOM HALLIBURTON - Port Arthur News Sports Writer Oh... by the way... the 2003 outright District 20-4A football champions were crowned Friday night. It's just that the coronation ceremony seemed absent. Therefore, it's quite understandable on Saturday morning, that Port Neches-Groves' 10th-year head coach Matt Burnett would feel like shouting from the rooftop, proclaiming from the highest tree. "Hey, Tom, we're district champions," Burnett said with an exuberant voice over his cell phone during his return from finalizing next week's 4A Division 2 bidistrict playoff plans. There was no intent to slight the Indians' 20th capture of a district football title in 79 years. There was no deliberate slant to devalue the school's first outright league championship since 1996..
  3. article is wrong Png won the outright district championship in 2003, and in 1999 had the same record {9-1} with Ned but beat them 31-8. quote from the article Armed with a six-game winning streak since failing to score in its first two outings, PN-G can clinch a playoff berth and move within one win of its first outright district championship since 1996 by beating Central. Not even in their 1999 run to the Class 4A Division II championship game did the Indians win the outright district title as they shared it with Nederland that year. WRONG!!!!!!!!
  4. I heard he came out of last weeks game with a hurt elbow.
  5. Not positive of score, but Png fresh "A" & "B" win big against vidor. Vidor's JV backed out. Lets win out at all levels like last week. Another clean sweep for the all mighty indians.
  6. just curious ? No backs on freshman team. That could play JV. Are backs hurt on varsity so backs had to be moved up. Lets hope that cheap shots don't get anybody hurt.
  7. I promise you it was not Hemmings. Coach Burnett has benched players for less than that. I can't believe Mathews would put up with that. I also heard Vidor called off this weeks Jv game. Is that true?
  8. #1 Lumberton had busted in and caused a fumble on Pngs last series {which Png recovered} before the kneeldown series. #2 a field goal could have been blocked and ran back for a td. #3 PNG was ahead by only 7 points so with any turn over Lumberton could have tied or won. It was taking a chance trying to score a td or kicking a fieldgoal. But png will beat Vidor and Central and maybe even Dayton.
  9. your numbers are wrong. All I can remember is beating the undefeated dogs {was 11th ranked dogs } 28-16. At the dog pound with the Jumbo tron replaying every score. No District championship in at least 15 years.
  10. Why don't you give it a break. He just beat 2 undefeated teams and sits on top the district. After they picked us 5th we are now #1 despite all the negative posters. Heres his record I copied of another post. HERES WHAT HE HAS DONE IN THE LAST FEW YEARS. 2003 DISTRICT CHAMPS PLAYOFFS 2004 DISTRICT CHAMPS PLAY OFFS 2005 THREE WAY TIE FOR 2ND PLACE {HURRICANE}LOST 2 COIN TOSSES FOR PLAYOFF SPOT 2006 5-5 2007 1ST PLACE IN DISRICT AND GETTING BETTER EVERY WEEK 5 WINS IN A ROW AND COUNTING. After this year it will be 3 district titles in 5 years. Give him a break, the man has got this team on a roll
  11. READ FOLLOWING TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION? Quote from RUSH WOOD article in Beaumont Enterprise after the game Blending the talents of running backs Jacob Hemmings and Joshua Wright, the Indians grinded out 231 rushing yards in setting up a first-place showdown against Lumberton next Friday night at The Reservation. With Hemmings churning, slashing and gouging away at the middle of the Bulldogs' defense and Wright effectively working the corners, the Indians seized control of the game by rushing for 140 yards and scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter. Hemmings, who scored on runs of 5 and 36 yards, carried the ball 24 times for 139 yards. Wright finished with 97 yards on 11 carries, but he, too - was over the 100-yard mark until being caught for 7 yards in losses on his final two attempts. Earlier in the quarter, Hemmings stunned the Bulldogs on a bruising quick-hitter off left tackle, on which he ran right past four defenders - including blue-chip recruit Dravannti Johnson. He then carried defensive back Reagan Stanley on his shoulders for the final 2 yards of the 36-yard score NOW THIS IS A QUOTE FROM TOM HALIBURTON ABOUT JOHNSON BEFORE GAME.ALSO PICKED US TO LOSE BY 21PTS. ALITTLE BIAS,DON'T YOU THINK? The first University of Texas football pledge from Nederland in decades, the 6-2, 225-pound defensive end may find all sorts of ways to paint the Indians purple on this Friday night at Bulldog Stadium. Dravannti may block a punt. Dravannti may run from his left end spot clear across the field when Josh Wright may try to run away from him. Dravannti may gobble up Harrison Tatum for dinner midway in the second quarter. Dravannti might retreat into coverage and intercept a pass. Heck, he might even catch a pass for the offensive unit. Whatever his role in the 84th Mid-County Madness confrontation, Johnson does not particularly give a flying Indian. He just wants the Nederland side of the scoreboard to have at least one more point than PN-G's side of the board.
  12. Looks like Jake had a "nice" time running around and through Big Ned. Looks like he ran by D. Johnson also.
  13. He didn'l let the negative talk get to him or his players. He also has done a great job coaching the secondary.
  14. One thing people don't know is Burnett also coaches the secondary. He done one hell of a job. Don't listen to the boo birds on pngs site,
  15. Hey TOM this is supposed to be a article about Jake . You said more about Ned than about Jake. What would "nice" is to say something good about Jake but your so busy talking up Ned you can't see straight. Terrible article for senior to keep in his scrap book.
  16. I heard some of the ozen players got upset after the game with PNG and quit. is it true ??
  17. Heres a interesting fact. If only one team went to the playoffs, like in the good old days, the dogs would been sittng at home Neumans entire career. PNG won disrict 4 times since Burnett and went to the state championship in 1999. how many district championships does Ned have? Oh wait big Ned went to state 50 years ago. Remember the leather helmets.
  18. Lumberton by 40. Ceveland is not very good. I hope it doesn't hurt Lumberton playing weak teams. But Lumberton is good. Their 0-3 heres the scores Hardin-Jefferson 22 Cleveland(at Cleveland) 14 Cleveland 6 Diboll(at Diboll) 52 Kirbyville 27 Cleveland 0
  19. Yea, he was really on that night .I kept saying where did this guy come from? But Bellows will be a good one also.
  20. Sorry to hear that. I was hoping for the best. I hear he is a fine young man.
  21. Sampere looked great the one game, before he got hurt..
  22. I thought bigned.com was gone. I've been reading posts on [Hidden Content] is there another site.
