  1. Well I normally do not comment about things like this but I feel the need to do so.

First of all I think everyone needs to read in the rule books what OBSTRUCTION truly is.

This was a "prime" example of why the rule is in the rule book in the first place.

The catcher was called for OBSTRUCTION because she was set up to receive the ball, in the base line,

about 2 feet from home plate. Contact was made with the runner "before she received the ball" hince

both umpires agreeing on the "OBSTRUCTION" call. You can argue the point all you want and I have had it

called both ways and been on the loosing end of this call several times but in the end its all about the decision

that was made by two "veteran" umpires. I think the umpires did a fine job all weekend long.

I ,for one, have learned "in the heat of the moment" it's all about how you present yourself to the umpires

and any softball coach and umpire knows that.

  2. Sounds like a great idea......I wonder why this has just became an option?

No matter the reason ...I am glad to see LU Sports on local TV.

I wonder if this will affect ticket sales in the future...?

How many other schools in our conference have TV coverage like this?
  3. I was wondering maybe we need to ask the question why is it that not all local
teams are playing in local tournaments, if the tournament is posted on the tournament sites well in advance
and also if local teams are not playing or signing up early....what needs to be done (if anything)
to entice local teams and teams from out of the area to sign up early?
Could it be that some local teams don't want to play other local teams or play them over and over again?
If not what is the problem and how do you fix it?
Just a question....I am not saying anything is wrong with how local tournaments are run....we have
allways found a way to schedule local events first at least a month or two in advance then fill
in the schedule with out of the area tournaments. Keep in mind this only works well until the college
exposure, State tournaments and Nationals kick of strong.
  4. The Young Guns would like to thank everyone that was involved and
all the teams that played, for your support in making this a
very successful tournament. There was alot of quality softball
that was played and enjoyed by all.
Thank you again for your support.

Congrats to 10U GT Shockers, 12U Thunder and 14U Crush on your championships!!!!

Also....Congrats to McKenzie from Thunder and Taylor from Crush on winning the homerun derby's.
Watch out for these two kids in the future...should be putting up big homerun numbers in the near future!!!

I also noticed that several teams are hosting tournaments in the
next few months...lets all get out and support these groups
to make these local tournaments be successful and bigger and better.

In bracket play saturday they defeated The College Station Tigers and The Houston Sting (Blue)
On sunday they defeated South Texas Mojo, Cyfair Shock and Montgomery TKO for the Championship.
