  1. Gee, wonder why the years 1969-1983 are missing on that chart???? ;D
  2. Piratefaithful, I hope that when you're saying that you want a refund on your season tickets that you are just venting out of frustration with the coaching staff. Everyone has some really down years. PNG had them when we HAD to be in 5A and we've had them in 4A. Nederland had them back in the 70's and early 80's losing 14 straight games to PNG. I think Vidor's students deserve your support win or lose. Keep the faith that it will get better, but don't ever give up your season tickets. Just remember the reason you bought and have cheered the Pirates for 22 years isn't because of who the coach is, but for those kids who bust their butts everyday to get the opportunity to be a player on Friday night. So keep buying your season tickets, because so many kids are out there on Friday night to perform for their fans and hopefully make lifelong memories.
  3. 1982 PNG vs. TJ As usual the rivarly had it's share of pranks. One thing that happened during the usual car parade through TJ's parking lot...We're riding through cheering and yelling and one of TJ's asst. principals was dumb enough to stick his arm in a moving car and got drug a few feet. We were all scared to death at school that someone was going to be in major trouble, but luckily their asst. principal didn't get very hurt and most people thought if you're dumb enough to put your arm in a moving car....then you get what you deserve, lol.
  4. IMO what LCM is looking for is pride in their school district and the traditions that come with that. Being a PNG graduate and now having children who go to and play for PNG I have an had the opportunity to see how we keep our pride and traditions going. Let's face it coaches come and go, winning and losing seasons come and go, but here is where I think it is. IMO the pride and traditions come from students passing it on to future students. It's not the big things that bring this about, it's the little things. Taking the time to say hello, shake the hands or taking the time to get to know the little ones who look up to you and look forward to being you when it's their time in high school. I know my kids can't wait to pass our "special spirit" on, just the way one very special former player did for them.
  5. Since PNG Proud already mentioned the PNG vs. Kilgore game I'll use another one. PNG vs. San Antonio Churchill once again at Rice Stadium. It was freezing cold, drizzling with sleet. I still remember not being able to get warm that night. Then of course losing the game made the misery complete. PNG vs. Aldine(not sure which one) but it was during the low point in the 80's. PNG lost 70 to 0. The Aldine fans were horrible. They were throwing stuff at our band when they were waiting on the sideline to perform at halftime. Talk about a very long night that night. :'(
  6. LCM needs to keep in mind that PNG HIGHLY underestimated them and their ability last year. The huge win by LCM last year has not only earned them respect, but it also has made winning the game mean so much more this year. IMO PNG is going to be ready for a quality LCM team and will play to redeem themselves from last year. PNG over LCM in a low scoring game.
  7. I know my son and his friends have said they would want to play for Lamar if they have a team after they graduate. I went to Lamar in the 80's and in the final stages of the football program not many players came from this area. My opinion was then as it is now, if they had the program and filled it with area players LU stadium would have been packed with screaming fans. Our area has such a great history of fan support for their teams. I can't imagine it not carrying over to the college level as well.
  8. IMO I think everyone needs to keep in mind we are just in week 2 of district play. All it takes is an injury happening to one key player and any team can go from playoff contenders to the district cellar.
  9. Who owns the LU stadium? If Lamar University owns the property still why are they just allowing it to completely fall apart? It was very sad last night to see what used to be a nice stadium in such condition. ???
  10. PNG Freshman beating Ozen 25-0 in the 2nd quarter
  11. PATitan thanks for the updates! My son plays on that team with the injured child and it's one of his close friends. It was great to be able to tell him that his friend is doing better!
