  1. She isn't there yet because the season hasn't started, but from what I've seen, Roni Adams from LC-M should be considered at 1st base. She makes some great plays, and knows how to s-t-r-e-t-c-h. As a freshman last year, she was behind Karlie Harrell, and ended up on JV, but should have a break-out year this year.
  2. I believe a lot of parties refuse to officiate basketball because of the fan heckling, bordering on verbal abuse. Now, with that said, I will take it one step farther and say - the reason they get so much verbal abuse officiating is because they do such a poor job. High School basketball has turned into football without pads. The officials call only the fouls they "want" to call or "feel" like calling, instead of calling "every" foul. When you don't call everything, players will push the envelope, and then get frustrated by the calls that ARE made. Before you know it, the officials have lost control of the game, and then the verbal abuse from the stands starts. The answer is to be consistent, and call the game and make the players play the game the way it is supposed to be played!
  3. This young lady put 3 out of the CRUSH fields last week-end playing with Blast White, one on my daughter! Kayla's first shot of the day cleared the outfield fence (about 195), the neighbors 6-foot wood privacy fence behind it, and 1-hopped their metal storage building in the backyard  . (Her second of the day was Moose's first HR to give up, and I MADE SURE Kayla got the ball. You have to admire kids when they work hard, learn, work harder, learn more, and then put it all to use. Now, if we can just work on that DROP BALL! )
  4. At pitcher, I'll ad Shandi Conner from BC. She has had VERY good stats (I am told - I can't provide numbers) for her Freshman and Sophomore years. The test will be - Can she carry us now as the #1? I would like to ad Christina Jacques from BC at catcher, IF she ends up there again. The girl is a phenominal athlete, and what she lacks in catching skill and technique is made up for with athletecism. We'll really have to see where she plays this year to make this nomination "official".
  5. From all I know about Ramsey, he IS a great kid, a steady competitior, and won't complain about ANYTHING - A true TEAM player. I believe it would have been very hard for him to knock Dishon out of the running because of Dishon's past accomplishments - call it politics or whatever else you want. I DO NOT believe he was not represented at the nominations and voting - He had too good of a year to have been left out. If I WERE to point blame anywhere, it would be at the fact that 21-AAA had 8 quality, competitive teams, loaded with quality athletes, and as someone posted above, picking from 8 teams instead of 6 means quiet a few deserving athletes get left out. I think Ramsey was one of them. And from what I know about the young man, he knows, as well as his teammates and coaches and fans and opponents, that he gave it all he had, every play of every quarter of every game, and THAT is his satisfaction. $.02 from a neighbor down FM408.
  6. Should have been about '80-'83. I graduated with one of his older brothers. Never saw him play, but remember he was a good athlete when in Jr High.
  7. Not sure it was a BC person, but OK - if you say so. I have to agree with everyone, as I was there also, that when you (WO-S) can't punch it in from inside the 5 with 4 downs to try, something is wrong. I am INDEED sorry to see you guys out of it. Obviously, there is no shame in falling to the team you lost to. Giddings is a worthy opponent, and deserved THIS win. But this was not the WO-S team everyone feared all year. The "O" looked out of sync all night, and never seemed to make the adjustments they needed to make. They had 3 opportunities to come away with points, if I remember correctly, and didn't convert on any of them. THAT and the bad snap(s) took you out of your game (there were 2 bad snaps, right? One on punt, one in shotgun that brought up 3rd and really long?) You guys did make me proud for our District, and your ranking. Congrats on a GREAT season (AGAIN - Dang, when will it stop? ) and best of luck nine out of ten weeks next year!
  8. Me and a friend, my 2 daughters, and 2 of their friends (Balla, that was 6 of us), made the trip to Conroe to support 21-AAA. I gotta say Sweeny should have never come close to winning this game! With right at 6:30 left in the 4th quarter, Kville up 21-14, 3rd and goal on the Sweeny 4, after having run the ball down Sweeny's throat for about 50 yards, the clock ticking away, and Kville calls a PASS! - Incomplete to Crawford in the EZ (bad) - Clock stops (BAD) - Now 4rd and goal, and Kville goes for the FG, after having missed 2 PAT's ALREADY (BBAAAADDD)! (1) Kicker misses field goal - No points to put game away and create a 2-posession scenario for Sweeny (2) OK - If you go for it on 3rd and goal, and again on 4th and goal, there's no guarantee you will come away with points (except you have run on them all game long), but IF you don't get points, clock continues to run, and you give them the ball back inside the 5 with 95 yards to go and now about 5 minutes or less left in the game. (3) By missing the kick, you give them the ball on the 20 instead of change of posession at LOS inside the 5. WELL - Kville defense steps up and holds, and makes Sweeny punt. The punter, "Tank" Carder for Sweeny ( who I think missed about 3 plays the whole game, going both ways plus special teams -- Remember this name!), who has already punted at least twice for about 45 yards, has the wind at his back (again), and Kville keeps their returner at about 30 yards. Sweeny puts the ball OVER the returner, and downs the ball on the 1 yard line - 75 yard punt! The kick could have been EASILY fair caught, or caught and returned for a minimal return somewhere around the Kville 35 or 40. Now, with their back against the wall, Kville fumbles on the first play, and Sweeny recovers, goal to go, with about 4 minutes left, and then scores to tie the game. In my opinion, the whole paragraph above SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED! Poor judgement in Coaching cost the Wildcats another game in the play-offs! I know Coach Alvarez is a gutsy coach, who likes to play the odds, and for the most part, it has suited his team well all year, but I believe it cost them the game yesterday, and I am indeed sorry for that. Kirbyville handled Sweeny for most of the game, with Pierce Rhodes on the sideline, and should have come away with a 3 to 14 point win. This Cardinal would like to say - The Kirbyville players should be proud of their effort - They played well! Congrats on a great season, and we'll see you next fall at your house!
  9. :?: How about 1/2 of the number of teams in the District? - 4 for an 8-team District - 3 for a 7- or 6-team District - 2 for the West Texas 4-team Districts It evens out the chances for every team in every District that way, as opposed to only 3 form an 8-team District or 3 out 4 from a 4-team District. Just an idea...........
  10. "XXL" :?: (I know - You would THINK it would only take a "L")
  11. Hello? WO-S fans? READ THE WHOLE POST! PT is loving how he got you guys stirred up' date=' even when he WARNED you of what he was trying to do! Said before, will say again - Congrats, bring home a ring! I'll follow along if I can, but if not, you have my respect and my best wishes! ps - I don't have much blue or silver - Can I wear my RED shirt to the games?
  12. DANG! I can't believe I'm gonna do this! Pierce Rhodes of Kirbyville. With out him, the Wildcats would have been a mediocre team in the middle of all this fight for 3rd place in 21-AAA. There! I did it, bit I STILL don't feel good about it!
  13. Congrats to the Stangs on a great game. BC killed ANY chance of an emotional win with their 1st 3 possesions - All were 3rd and 5 or 6, when a penalty made them ALL 3rd and 10 or 11. You can't compete making mistakes, especially when you have NO ROOM for error. And why wait until the 3rd quarter, when you're down by 28, to start running the fullback up the middle and the Option? DOH! BC's "D" played good for the start of the game. We ALL know BC wasn't going to stop WO-S cold - We just needed to stall them long enough to give the BC "O" a chance to keep pace. But our techique on the edges was terrible, with NO CONTAINMENT - EVER! You can't win when your opponent has a free ticket for 8 (minimal) yards on every play around the corner. Again, Congrats to WO-S - Go bring home a ring, and make our District look as tough as we KNOW it is! Congrats to the Cards on a good season. You never gave up, and fought through to the end. You guys had a good year, all in all, and I'm proud of you. Now, the playcalling and tackling, .......... We'll save that for another thread.
  14. A REALLY good game (except for the score lol)! Hats off to both teams - Neither held back anything, including the "New Trick Play" which ended in a turnover for WO-S. Lots of athletes on the field for BOTH teams! I NEVER like to lose, but I NEVER mind getting outscored by a great team. WO-S was a GREAT team tonight - Congrats on the season, guys!
  15. WO-S has an exceptional team, going 9-0 SO FAR this season ( I HAVE to throw it in - After Friday night, I can't harass you guys anymore about a BC upset!) against some very tough non-District opponents. They are WAY more balanced than last year, IMO, even without Beasley. There biggest problem (stated with the utmost respect) will be injury and lack of depth. If a few starters go down, their numbers just aren't there to stay as competitive as they are today. So, if they stay healthy, I expect them to bring home the BIG one, with a ring to boot!
  16. (it wasn't a bet - it was abribe. You know? Throw the game, and let BC win? FIXING the game? Get it?)
  17. WORKS FOR ME! When I first saw it, I thought "fly on the wall", but like I said, I wasn't sure! HFaninthestands has a warped and twisted sense of humor, AND I LOVE IT!
