See - You get an "A+" for the day for paying attention! I'm not trying to be the post-police, but if I recall, without going over to look it up, this SAME discussion was held when the All-District picks were made in football. Many thought there we too many, with the reasoning for the number being "combining two Districts, and having 8 teams to pick from". Truth be told - I think it is too many, but I have enough respect for the coaches who MADE that decision to not call them out in a public forum. I feel no need to discuss it (other than posting my feelings here for example only) because it is a done deal, and I respect the coaches who made the decision and I respect the kids who were awarded the recognition for their hard work and effort. If we all thought about it BEFORE we typed it (I can't remember how many replies I've started, then thought better of it, and cancelled the reply process because I really didn't need to post those thoughts in a public forum), there would be none of this discussion.

It's about the line being crossed - period............................ We ALL want this site to grow and be a fun place to come and be entertained, but if everyone is allowed to post "whatever" they want, it will, in the end, damage the reputation of the site,and it will go away. You can think it all you want, you can tell your wife or husband when they get home tonight (Hey, that 3ABirdMan on SETxSports went off on a wild one today!!!!!), you can PM a buddy, but when it concerns "the kids" and, not just any one kid in particular, don't put it on here..............

What I believe to be true or false about anyone else, poster, player, coach, or fan, has little or no bearing on ANY subject ever posted on this board. What we ALL need to remember is - WE ARE DISCUSSING THE LIVES, SUCCESSES, AND FAILURES OF TEENS, AND THEY READ THIS STUFF! If you can't post ANYTHING positive, just leave well enough alone, and don't post anything! I will agree 100% that we have the right to disagree, but I do not believe in "political correctness" to the point of allowing anyone to post whatever they want, without consequence. Therefore, keep it clean, keep it positive, or keep it off!

I believe the Title IX discussion has developed around EQUALITY in the programs, not FIANCIAL equity. Spending money on uniforms and equipment and bleachers is only HALF the battle. Providing girls sports with qualified coaches, who know their sports (Volleyball, Basketball, Softball) is the issue, versus placing a JV football coach over the girls just to fill a void. Question to those "in the know" - Does the AD have any daughters, or only the son who plays football? The answer to this question will tell you whether or not to battle onward, and whether or not you have a chance at winning the "war".

Look at it this way - We currently have 5 classifications ( A, AA, AAA, AAAA, AAAAA). The new plan for football would give us 10 classifications. That would mean the same number of championships that we currently have (with DI and DII) but with 25% more teams competing for them: 5 class. X 3 teams equal 15 vs 10 class X 2 teams equal 20 (or something like that : )

That's one of the differences in baseball and softball. Come on over to the softball forum - You'll find a BUNCH of posts about the quality of officiating, and several "THANK YOU's to our guys and gals in blue...........

Yes - It's called Juniors, and is usually organized by the County that it is in (not the county government LOL : ) like: Jefferson County Juniors (JCJ) Orange County Juniors (OCJ) Hardin County Juniors (HCJ) The better area players participate, and are the are's better players because they participate (DUH! You know what I mean!).

Probably the '08-'09 school year will be the next big rising. A lot of people are excited about the changes to come to BC football, but it will take a little time to learn and understand a new system. I truly expect the '07-'08 team to compete under the new system, but believe it won't be "rolling" for another year.

VERY valid point! My problem is I was 6 when they played, and I lived in another town, so all I know of them (1966) is what I hear. I would never disrespect their team out of ingnorance. I was just adding speculation about another team.

Thank You , Hawks. This thread needs to settle down some. Alleged unsportsmanship in a past game is behind us, and we need to let it go.

I was at the Huto game, and there is no doubt in my mind that if Dishon would have been on the field, BC wins that game and marches on to win State. (yeah, yeah, yeah - I know - could'a should'a would'a) But in all seriousness, BC played a horrible game. Nobody had any fire until the 3rd quarter, and it was too late then. They looked and played like they thought they had NO CHANCE without Dishon, and that is the ONLY fault I ever found in Coach Tarver - He couldn't or wouldn't make those kids think they were invincible, whether they were or not. I feel really sorry for the kids on that team, becasue I REALLY think they could have gone all the way.

After reading JohnnyT's post above, my earlier post seemed a little silly, so I felt compelled to reply to defend my nominations, based on JohnnyT's criteria. Katie Birdwell is a pitcher, and potentially has an incredible bat. Emily Kosh may play one of about 3 positions, none of which are pitcher, but she also has an incredible bat.

Newcomer of the year - - Emily Kosh - Bridge City - Katie Birdwell - Bridge City Yea, I know - How can you have 2 newcomers? I expect one of them, if not both, to have break-out seasons. I'd really hate to leave either of them off the ballot, so there........................
