  1. So I'm guessing Gabe disagrees with his boss?
  2. The game will still take place and recruits will still be able to attend, it will just be private without fans in attendance. Normal spring game for A&M attracted 40,000+ fans. It's not that big of a deal for the players, although it does look better for the recruits to have a practice game in front of 40k on national tv. I guess Sumlin will have to pull out some extra gadgets for the next few years.
  3. They applied for a waiver to have the game offsite and was denied by the NCAA. What a joke. I can't think of a better reason to grant the waiver than your field not being usable. Somehow they let Ohio State play at the Bengals stadium last year when they were redoing part of their stadium. The NCAA doesn't make much sense. [Hidden Content]
  4. "It would be the worst decision they've ever made," he says, smiling. "I'd be in the same division playing against them twice a year. Sorry, but you just turned that chip on my shoulder from a Frito into a Dorito." [Hidden Content]
  5. That's hard to do left handed!
  6. The guy was on Cowherd yesterday and He's full of crap. He forgot to mention that at the end of the Mississippi State game, Johnny hit his thumb on a helmet throwing a pass. He was wearing a cast the week leading up to the LSU game. I've jammed by thumb before and I couldn't even wipe much less throw a football. The guy is just trying to get his name out there.
  7. I don't know if a 1 loss Big 12 Champion gets in over a 1 loss SEC team that didn't win conference ala Alabama this year.
  8. @mikefinger: So the final UT football coach tally for the next four years: $20.6 to Strong, $4.375 to Louisville, $4.75 to Mack. That's $7.4M/year.
  9. If they combine they will own 33% of the market. I don't know if the monopoly lawyers will allow that.
  10. I've heard really bad things about Comcast. On the bright side we will now be able to watch the Astros and Rockets on CSN. That doesn't really help me much with Direct TV though.
  11. quote: Defensive Substitutions The committee also recommended a rules change that will allow defensive units to substitute within the first 10 seconds of the 40-second play clock, with the exception of the final two minutes of each half, starting with the 2014 season. “This rules change is being made to enhance student-athlete safety by guaranteeing a small window for both teams to substitute,” said Calhoun. “As the average number of plays per game has increased, this issue has been discussed with greater frequency by the committee in recent years and we felt like it was time to act in the interests of protecting our student-athletes.” Under this rule proposal, the offense will not be allowed to snap the ball until the play clock reaches 29 seconds or less. If the offense snaps the ball before the play clock reaches 29 seconds, a 5-yard, delay-of-game penalty will be assessed. Under current rules, defensive players are not guaranteed an opportunity to substitute unless the offense substitutes first. This part of the rule will remain in place in scenarios where the play clock starts at 25 seconds. The committee discussed the issue thoroughly before coming to the conclusion that defensive teams should be allowed some period of time to substitute. The committee believes that 10 seconds provides sufficient time for defensive player substitutions without inhibiting the ability of an offense to play at a fast pace. Research indicated that teams with fast-paced, no-huddle offenses rarely snap the ball with 30 seconds or more on the play clock. This rules proposal also aligns with a request from the Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports that sport rules committees review substitution rules in regards to player safety. In the NCAA’s non-rules change years, proposals can only be made for student-athlete safety reasons or modifications that enhance the intent of a previous rules change.
  12. Joe Schad ‏@schadjoe 8m NCAA football rules committee proposes offense can't snap the ball until play clock reaches 29 seconds or less. Would reduce total plays. The NCAA and their dumb rules are getting annoying. I screamed at the TV multiple times last year over targeting calls in games I didn't even care about because it's a BS rule. Leave the game alone or let them play flag football and see how much money the NCAA loses.
  13. I would replace Texas with Ohio State. Those 4 teams will be at the top of everyone's list. OU will also be in the running.
  14. I guess it all depends on how close he wants to be to his dad and if the brothers want to go to the same school. TCU- 1 hour Baylor- 2 hours College Station & Norman- 3 hours Austin- 3:45 hours
  15. I'm just glad for the recruits sake that you don't know how to Twitter! 😄
  16. "By perpetuating the stigma and isolation imposed on formerly incarcerated individuals, these laws increase the likelihood they will commit future crimes," Holder said Tuesday at a Washington, D.C., symposium on sentencing laws. [Hidden Content]
  17. Social media has made it very tough on these kids. A lot of fans take it way over the top. Joking around on here is one thing, but harassing kids and their families is a whole different story. [Hidden Content]

  19. I guess we are losing more threads? There are a few missing including one about Mitchell
  20. Bama was 3-3 under Saban in BCS Bowls. 3-0 in Championship games and 0-3 in the others.
  21. LSU Thanksgiving day 2014 at Kyle Field in front of 109,000 people will make a lot of people forget about the other game. Now if A&M could just win against LSU every once in a while.
  22. Another category the SEC leads the nation in! Most known gays in the NFL. S-E-C! S-E-C! I guess according to most of y'all the Big 12 would get the credit for this one though.
  23. His interview was pretty good. He seems like a smart guy that is ready to handle all that is coming his way.
  24. His team already knew and there were a lot of rumors. NFL private investigators would have broke the news anyways. Might as well let the kid do it on his own terms.
  25. Former 5 star LB from Plano is transferring from Ohio St to be closer to his sick father. Would be a huge get for any local team. I guess it depends on how close he needs to be to his dad. [Hidden Content]
