It was Benito Santiago's first homerun as a professional. A rep from the team came and wanted the ball and offered a ball signed by the whole team as a trade. I didn't know who Santiago was until years later when he became one of the best catchers in the league, which made my story better. I wish I knew where that autographed ball from 30 years ago went.

After reading the ESPN article on how Tom Herman specifically breaks his team up into three groups (gold, green, crimson) and even feeds them all differently, I did a little research.According to the Texas student catalog, what Herman is doing is hazing, which is illegal in Texas.From the handbook: Serving someone burnt biscuits, watered down eggs? Burnt hots dogs, burnt burgers? Putting someone on the 'crimson' team as a means of shaming them for their performance certainly meets this definition. Consenting as a member of the team is not a defense. Coaches hazing the players meets this definition.
