1.
I do not approve of steroid usage in athletics. However, someone explain to me how being "stronger" makes you a better baseball player?
Steroids don't necessarily make you stronger, they help your muscles recover after being torn down by lifting.  Which in turn helps you get stronger, because you are fresh every day.  MLB is a grind, playing 162 games in 185 days will take a toll on the body. Steroids helped these guys show up to the park every day feeling fresh and ready to go. I imagine if you can show up to work everyday feeling your best, then you will be more successfull in whatever you do, especially sports.
2.
Is Yates a Magnet School? How much fundraising was required in order for them to travel to Hawaii and the T-Mobile tournament? Surely HISD did not fund their travel expenses. Could one of you Yates Homers fill us in please. Thanks.
I was wondering the same.  If I remember correctly HISD wouldn't allow the schools bands to travel to football games outside the city to save money.  Who paid for the Yates team to travel around the country?
3.
Please do not read this the wrong way because I've heard nothing but good things about Matt Hicks.  There seems to be no question that he is a very talented young man.  However from the outside looking in, I would've thought he'd go to a bigger school than LA - Lafayette.  No knock on the kid but doesn't Lamar have a better program than LA  - Lafayette?
The only knock on Matt in scouts eyes is his size- around 5'7".  He throws 90+, is a bulldog on the mound, and is fearless.  Everytime he steps on the field he is at full speed.  I wish every kid that played for me had that kind of passion and work ethic. IMO he could pitch at any college in the country.  ULL is getting a great player and a better kid.
4. I think he means pre-season rankings are nice, but now you have to prove it on the field.
5.
Never seen Dishon pitch. What about Menard?
Menard is a catcher.  Hicks and Zoch will be solid.  Little Hubbard throws hard from the left side, but needs to work on his control.  I've never seen Dishon pitch, but I know he can cover some ground in the OF.
6.
NO doubt Hicks, Hester, and Bellow are the top Three pitchers in the area by far......
I agree, but I wouldn't say by far with no doubt.  Kane Benoit(PN-G & Lamar), Shane Waddell(LC-M), Logan Johnson(HF) will all pitch in college. That's not including Jace Statum(OF) and Reggie(WB) that can both get it done on the mound, but will most likely play outfield in college. This area is blessed with a lot of talent on the mound this year,  it should be a great year to be a baseball fan.
7.
How many regions are there in the 3a district?
There are 4 regions in the state in every class, so 4 teams make it to state. If your asking how many districts are in 3a Region 3, there are 8.
8. UT now leads by 11.  The defense looks alot better in the 2nd half.
9. Game tied at half. Pretty good game so far, the Arkansas guards are giving the Horns fits.
10.
Nederland beat their alumni 1-0 Kelly beat their alumni 2-1
Nederland's 2 best alumni weren't allowed to play.  Kansas City didn't want 2 of their players getting hurt in a scrimmage. ;D
11.
Jason Butler that played at Spring HS, class of '96?
Jason Butler- Nederland class of '98.  He was the assistant coach last year for Ned.
12.
Mason Dallas, Kody Smith, and Josh Veillon should do very well along with Shayne Waddell for LCM. Dont underestimate these young men
One of the main problems LC-M is going to have is finding someone to catch these guys.
13. One of the best things about New Years is that it is almost baseball season.  Happy New Year everyone.
14. Final Aggies  64 Huskies 73
15. Should be a good game.  Predictions?
16. Lake Travis finishes #2 in the country.  Maybe a little overrated IMO, I don't think they were as good as last year.  11 Texas teams made the top 100! [Hidden Content]
17. Good game so far.  28-21 Westlake leads after 3 quarters.
18. Trinity scores twice in 2 minutes to take the lead 14-10.
19. Texas looks good so far.  I look forward to seeing them matchup with Kansas a few times in conference play.
20. I started this topic to see what people thought of their returning pitchers, not to debate who has the biggest cup size or the politics of baseball.  These are high school kids that are still maturing and developing from year to year.  Some will work to get better, some won't.  We won't know until they are put on that stage in a district game. There are plenty of tourney and pre-district games to figure out who the best pitchers are. Also if Lumberton plans on making a playoff run, they will need Bell, Townsend, Erickson and a few others to step it up on the mound. You can never have too much pitching in baseball, just ask Nederland in game 3 of the regional finals.
