I don't think so.

This is will be first time playing in the Battle of the Border. JT gets its first start against a team in Warren Easton out of New Orleans. This team went 12-2 last season. It has been since 98 if I am correct that JT has played a team from Louisiana.
John Tyler is coming off a 30-14 win over Ennis last night. Where both offense and defense played hard. There are things that JT still needs to work on, but they are getting better every week. This is Cujo last test before starting district against Rockwall at Rose Stadium.

How's the D-line looking this year?
To be honest I don't know. The switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4.

Every team will look to shut Smith and Miller down.

Bryson back. Nuff said.
JT will need more than just him to win games.

Well my honest take on the scrimmage was JT indeed has a little work to do defensively. We stopped any runs up the middle but Nac found light running to the left side (if you're watching from behind the defense). I'm not sure if the linebackers were too bunched in or if Nac's o-line was really that good. FYI, both of our starting DE's did not play and this 3-4 look is completely new to our guys but we ran the 3-4 all night. No stunts or blitzes, which was to be expected. Secondary played well. Nac did complete a few deep balls but our coverage was there but their receivers made plays. We tackled extremely well. Especially open field. Nac had good speed. They had one guy break lose towards the end, and of course I dont know his name but it took us a while to catch him. Again, Nac exposed our outside linebackers. The secondary broke up pass after pass, 1st team and 2nd team. Now, here is the best part of the night. The offense (more explosive and high octane than last yr) basically picked up where it left off from last season, but much, much improved. Oh and we can actually run the ball more effective this year w/o having to rely on Bryson's legs too much. We have a stable of running backs this year. Let me start with the kid who is a transfer (not doing any naming as of right now on purpose). This guy was nothing short of amazing. He found holes even when there wasn't much of one. He loves contact and breaks through tackles with ease. He loves running up the middle and has great break away speed. Matter of fact, he broke a 65/70 yard run with contact and scored late in the scrimmage. I'm betting he had 150+ yards. He mostly played with the 2nd team. Oh, and he's a big back. Something we haven't had in a while. The next RB, who is the starter and the biggest of them all (played JV last year), just plowed over everybody all night. He's another one who loves contact and will be great in the redzone. He needs to learn to drop his pad level a little bit more but the guy is 4/5 yard per carry guy but doesn't have the speed of the 1st I mentioned. The last RB, who got plenty 1st team action is a mixture of the first 2. Not as big, but he's not small either and probably the fastest. This the first time iv'e seen JT loaded with backs like this since the Wilson era. But a great comparison would be the 2009 team, when we had the 2 man backfield of Black and Chancellor. Bryson was Bryson of course. He had a few huge runs. He definitely has more help this year. His accuracy is much improved over last season and looks to throw first vs running, but when he tucks that ball and takes off, just watch out. Our receiving core was great all night and didn't drop much. I was actually impressed with our slot receivers who ran great routes and catch very well. The O-line blocked really good and opened up huge holes. Oh and the interior d-lineman were impressive as well. If we tune up our outside backers (i'm sure we will) this team will be pretty descent. Offensively and defensively we have a shot. By no means will Nac be a pushover. I can't see them beating LP but they will score. Good luck to Nac the rest of the year and thanks for a clean scrimmage.

This is the first time these two schools have played each other. It is save to say i know nothing about this team. The from looking on other sites throughout the summer is that Plano West is going to have a down year. Only time well tell.
However, John Tyler is comong off 8-4 season and has moved back up to 6a. JT is looking to continue the success today had in 5A.This game will be at Rose Stadium at 12 noon on Saturday the 27th.

I wouldnt be surprised if Oregon or Arizona comes calling within the next few months.
It could happen. The good thing is that there are more then just one player on the team getting looked at. It shows that coach Holmes is doing his job getting his guys looked at.

Will John Tyler be able to play up to 6a? Knowing that going into every game it is going to be a fight and not a look at some games as a easy win? In the last 6 years. John Tyler has one had one or two hard games in district.
