  1. Its always comical to say "if" we played that sport or "if" these 2 or that 1 big-time kid played we would have beat you...The one thing that has happened over the past 7-10 years in Ned is instead of every kid going off and playing with specific select/AAU groups they have kept the Ned groups together and faced the bigger talent...Have they got trampled in some occasions...Sure...But over time they gel and come together...Every sport is different...But in MS sports, the kids that just "get it" tend to flourish...Over time, other kids get bigger, faster and stronger, but some never "get it"...As I said in my prior post...The pipeline is still running through CO Wilson...And tonight will be no different...

  2. This thread seems to have gotten away from the point of "Who is the next person for the job?"....I think 90% of high school athletic supporters want to see AD's that boost numbers in all sports...No one wants the old mentality of AD guy only pushing football and not supporting other athletic  sports....Only a couple of names have been  mentioned on this thread, and I would fully support Coach Latiolais getting a shot at building a full athletic program...Who else has even applied for this job???
  3. The best comment so far in this forum is....

Bob West is a boob.....now that right there is good stuff....

I think a good combination would be bring in Sutton or Knight and tag team it with Cross as an assistant.....If your not wanting the overall "name" thing then Evans would be a guy to really look at...

I am wondering if there are other names that haven't been brought up yet....I think they have  a couple more not mentioned yet that can get the job done....
  4. I am not really worried about what college any kid is going to...I have watched many Lincoln/South Oak Cliff and Plano HS teams that have made deep runs in the playoffs and not sent a single kid to play college ball...

What I do know is that each team has their own style and from watching both teams over the past few months I think this should be a barn burner....Ball will try and pick the pace of the game up but Nederland has shown that scoring in transition is something they can do and slowing the game entirely is not what they have to do to win the game...Post play will be the difference in this game....If Nederland hangs on to the ball down the stretch I think they pull this one out....
  5. If Nederland can slow the pace of the two guards that shoot the ball well I think they WIN the game by 10....The big kid from Humble is nice but I do think Nederlands depth at the position will fill that void....I think Humble will try and stop Cunningham and hope for the best against Smith/Forney...

    Should be a great game...I B DER!
  6. You can look at big school districts to small school districts and all of them have different scenarios.  The reasoning for the football coach normally being the AD in southeast texas rides normally on money...It allows the schools to give the guy something close to the other bigtime schools in the big cities...If you look at some of the big schools over the past 10 years they have went to AD's and Assistant AD's that are repsonsibile for scheduling, transportation, facilities, etc without coaching duties....In Plano years back they brough in a guy with a marketing background to boost bigger sponsors and donars similar to college type administrators...However the head coaches were conisdered coordinators and got paid decent and had no duties...I think schools will begin to change when they feel the tightining down of the budgets....
  7. I would have a hard time allowing my son to quit during the season...Although times do call for bigger measures and this may have been one of them....but to allow a teenaged young man to pick up and go to another school (when academics are your 1st interest right?) to get away from the decision of a position change on the football field?....

I coached for over 12 years at the varsity level and been apart of many UIL hearings....Neuman can sign off (if he just doesnt really care if the kid plays at PNG) and Faircloth could accept...The 15 days would go into action and then he could play...

My question would be....Would you be ok with Faircloth accepting when he knows the kid is coming for athletic reasons?.....Just something to ponder....
  8. I was impressed last night on the CE King catcher as well....He threw a couple times from his knees to 3rd on a rope...

Ned sticks look mighty good for early in the season...Line-up looks pretty stout....

Hope I can catch the 2:30 game today....Nice day to watch some baseball!!
