This is a post from a friend of Coach Clif Carroll. Coach Carroll and Pat were both at the Collin game on Wednesday. They were there to see Amos Wilson and Hondo Webb. Amos is Collins leading scorer and rebounder and is about 6-6. He would play the same position as Harper. Amos in my opinion is a better player than Harper. Hondo is a 6-3 guard that can play the point or wing. He looks like a football player. He can guard anybody on the floor. He would have 3 years to play and is an outstanding student. I have friends whose kids went to high school with Hondo. They said he is a special kid and they would become instant Lamar fans if he were to come here.

Matt Hancock plays on a professional team but doesn't get paid so he call play college ball.

Rhon Mitchell out of California is red-shirting this year and he is 6'5 and very muscular.

Here is a highlight video of Jason Smith who signed in the early signing period. BTW, the article is wrong Jason Smith is a wing not a PG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E8vMhlxdv0

Well, I was wondering the same thing about so many point guards.  Good to hear this kid is a wing.  Don't like all the tatt's on him.  Looks like he's got good hops, and a very nice jumper.  Can't really tell for sure about ball handling and quickness...both look a little questionable on this video.  But, if he shoots the rock like that all the time, I could care less if he can dribble.

Attendance was 3257. And I think students will be better when school starts back in a couple weeks.

As far as the game, we looked great after starting off shooting 0-12. Story of the game was Brandon Davis scoring 27 after shooting 8-11 from 3! He was oh fire. Mike James also had 21. UCA just wasn't very good. Lamar has started conference playing 2 of the 3 worst teams in the Southland.

That attendance number sound more in line.  We've had 20+ years of awful basketball.  It will take a little time to get fans back.

Heard there was less than 1000 in attendance. But.......

    BOB KNIGHT WAS THERE!!!!! ::)

Good win Cards, keep it going!

There weren't a bunch of people there but definitely more than 1000.  Probably around 2800.  Maybe you are thinking about your aggies.
  4. Ha, just noticed Soulja shut down the other Stump thread largely because of my long post.  I admit, I am surprised he left my post up because he normally deletes them.  Anyway, I think it is funny that my post was off topic but when he and SgtReye are making "mind control" posts they are somehow on topic. Go figure.

Man, in his case, forget speed.  He's fast enough.  he have the uncanny ability to make the catch in traffic.  He makes the easy catch.  He makes the in coverage catch.  He jumps over you to get it.  He possitions himself well against smaller defenders.  He also makes the catch over the middle, takes the hard hit, and gets back up and catch over the middle again.  MOST importantly, he blocks very well downfield on run plays.  This kid is something.  Put on some size, and we have a special case here!
That is good to hear.  I only saw him on the televised games but I was just shocked at the catches he was making.  PNG's QB just threw it up a couple of times and he'd make the catch.  And he was getting open all the time and it wasn't just short passes.  He caught a couple of deep balls too.  I didn't pay attention to what he did blocking downfield but a lot of receivers don't want to mess with that so it is good to hear that he doesn't mind blocking.

I've seen nelson on the basketball court.  He will need to get a little bigger to be  the player that I know he can be playing d-1 college ball.  He have all the Football fundimentals and IQ down, no doubt.  He will be a treat to see in the Red and White!
I would expect him to put on 10-20 pounds and play 6'1" 200+ lbs. He and Seals if they get him can contribute right a way.
How fast is he?  From the couple of times I saw him on Friday night experience he looked great. He was always open and never dropped anything.  I think he is a great recruit for us and I am stoked we got us an Indian (no I'm not from Port Neches,  I'm a Beaumont boy but you gotta love that Indian spirit).

Not the first nor the last time a coach begin to look elsewhere when he sees or perceives the talent pool dwindling, especially when you have a son/little johnny to consider
You think he moved so he could play his son?  You are an idiot.  He moved because it is a better opportunity.  West Brook/BISD/Beaumont are being destroyed by the school board and the Superintendent.  Open your eyes and look at the numbers/facts.  The school board only cares about blacks and screwing everyone else.  People are tired of it and the few that are left that can afford to do so are leaving Beaumont or putting their kids in private schools.
Calling people idiots and calling people racist is not acceptable.  Consider this a warning.
I agree.  I shouldn't call you an idiot.  My bad and I apologize for that.

As far as calling the school board members racist.  That's like saying the grass is green and the sky is blue.  They've basically called themselves racists.  Do you pay attention to anything?

Go ahead and ban me when I say something you don't agree with.  I'm used to it.

I'm willing to bet because the media and your friends, the Dr. Thomas/BISD haters made you believe (influenced) what the truth is before even knowing the other side of the story, or even thinking hard enough to think that there may be another story to it.

Says the guy from Central.  ::)
And what does THAT mean?  If it is what I think it is, trust me, Bud, you don't want to go there at all.

So, let's hear it.  What does me being from Central have to do with it?  Sounds like you're getting low on amo if you are resorting to this.  8)
Lol i could go all day soulja. You know this. And I would love to know what you think it is. Why don't you let everyone know what you think it is.
Let's see.  You don't take my opinion or comment serious as shown by the rolling eyes.  You then you bring mention that I'm from Central.  To me, that would mean that you are saying that I'm not compentent enought to get any credibility.  Also, it may mean that since I'm a Central guy, us (Central people) as a whole as far as intellect or just flat out common sense are lacking and that you, a Vidorian, is in a great position to pass judgement on a 'Central guy'.

Now, I may be off base here, but Is THIS accurate?  If not, I would like to hear YOUR explaination as I origiinally asked.
Wow. Reading too much into things don't ya think? I was simply saying that you were from Central and not West Brook so i think Sgt. Rey would know a lil bit more about WB than you. And i did not "pass judgement" on a "central guy". Your the one judging me before you know what i'm even saying.
vp - you don't understand Beaumont...especially Beaumont blacks.  They have brought racism to the forefront over the last 20+ years.  All they see is color; black and not black, period.  They only care about the black community...well at least the blacks that vote only care about the black community.  They have a 10 ton chip on their should and it is sad.  They are given preferential treatment at every turn yet it still isn't good enough.  You have the school board President going off about how terribly he was treated as a child 50 years ago.  You have black 'leaders' calling white people "the enemy".  Yet, when any white person disagrees with a black in Beaumont he is immediately labeled a racist.  West Brook used to be known as the 'white school'.  For some reason, all of the blacks don't want there to be a 'white school' so they demand that they be allowed to transfer to West Brook.  Now, there are no 'white schools' in Beaumont even though West Brook is somewhat perceived that way since it is about 25 -30% white...basically the only public high school in Beaumont that a white student attends.  Why does that matter?  Because, it goes back to the administrations and the district 'leaders'.  They don't want the 'white school' to be successful in athletics.  They want Central and Ozen to be successful.  Personally, I wanted each high school to have their own football stadium for several reasons.  But, the black "leaders' didn't want that.  As for the facility at West Brook that wasn't completed.  That too goes back to the racist school board.  They didn't want to give the job to a white contractor.  They didn't follow the bid policy and gave it to a black contractor instead.  And the trustees wouldn't back down.  Screw the kids, screw West Brook, screw non blacks.

As for why Stump left.  I seriously doubt it was because of the fieldhouse but it may have played a role.  But it is more likely to do with the overall opportunity vs West Brook.  You've got West Brook in Beaumont with BISD in complete and total disarray.  You've got black leaders actively and overtly promoting racism.  And you've got a continued mass exodus of non-blacks out of Beaumont.  Plus, he will make more money at Atascocita, have more athletes, and have a district that is probably growing and not dying.

I'm pretty sure his leaving will be viewed along racial lines as well.  The blacks will say good riddance and the non-blacks will be disappointed.  He did a great job at West Brook, just look at his record.  I hate to see him go but he'd be crazy not to.

Sorry to get on a political tirade but it is all connected and it is all tied to Thomas, Reece, etc.

    Where's Sgt Rey?
Maybe the Vidor coach will apply ;)
Why, so he can wreck his career? Vidor, at this point, has better facilities, a school board and administration that more straight laced, and much better pride and community support. Stay in Vidor, Coach Matthews. ;)
What does the 'School Board' have to do with wins/losses on the football field?
Alot! First, they determine a coach's salary, for one. If you aren't willing to pay Gary Joseph/Todd Dodge money, you aren't gonna get Katy/SLC results, ie State Championships. Two, what coach worth a darn, is gonna be willing to come to 'good ole boy' BISD, and try to win with a program that doesnt have the budget of a 3A school?! The trainer, at WB, has had the same budget to buy all the supplies that he needs to keep players healthy for an entire season, that he has had for the last 10 years. Basically, he has not gotten any more money in 10 years. I know for a fact, that for the last few seasons he has had to get what was left over from Central and Ozen, when the regular season was over, just to have enough supplies to make it through the playoffs. When you look at the big picture, as a whole, BISD and WB is not a very attractive place that one would want to go. Other that the fact that WB has a state title that was won 30 years ago, there's not much of a chance that WB will get a decent coach, unless they gamble on another unknown. Just sayin....
Exactly

Agreed!  West Brook has turned into a cesspool.
  13.
Officials could have prevented the brawl. There was unneccessary pushing and shoving after plays had ended starting with the very first play of the game and tension progressed to the brawl. It was like adults turning their heads or even cheering on children in a fight. There were no penalties given for the pushing and piling on players after the plays. Yes, these players are responsible for their actions but the officials may have prevented that fiasco by making the proper calls that could have stopped the tension buildup. I have never seen another game played where the teams were allowed to continue to play a game of football in that manner. I predicted what happened after the first play of the game and it was because the officials allowed the game to continue without penalty.
So typical.  Blame the officials instead of the ones who were actually participating in the fights.

    Singleton-- Baylor
    Holmes-- Arkansas
Seales-- ??? but I predict he will sign a D1 letter of Intent on Feb 1

That's impressive! Not many teams have (3) D-1 committs. I can count on one hand the number of D-1 players that have come out of Nederland in the past 10 years.
In the past Nederland has been mostly white.  White kids don't get recruited as heavily as black kids do.
