I'm declaring this game the boring bowl...sad to say, I would be in the press box at kville but they are off this week
It will not be so boring if Huntington starts bringing it to the dogs. What scares me the most is Jasper seeming to be taking a team lightly. -
Jasper vs. Huntington What you got
j_dog replied to Wildcat04's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The "normal" is different at different schools. Some schools would love to have Jaspers prospects this year. Once upon a time, Jasper fans "expected" to win district on average about every five or so years and were pretty content with that. That was even the line from the coaches. Then they learned that they could win just about every year. Those expectations are the new "normal" for Jasper. Anything less and you will have restless fans in Jasper. That is just the reality and I suspect that anyone applying to coach football at Jasper understands that. Personally, I hope the current coach turns things around and gets the team back to a competitive level. I think it is still possible that it can be done. I just do not buy the idea that the talent level is down so much that Jasper cannot at least be competitive in the fourth quarter of football games. -

This is Huntington's best chance ever to beat Jasper. Jasper better bring their "A" game. I honestly question whether Jasper still has what it takes to win this game. At the start of the season, it should have been a gimme, now .....? -

Newton will prevail. Tough times never last, but tough teams do.

They say a lot of people are playing both ways. Sounds like they are already winded. Going to be a long season for the dogs. 27-10
and thats any different from Kville, Newton, Buna, and any other small school in texas Poor excuse!!!!
No excuse, just facts. I have never known a running back at Jasper to play both ways. Jasper obviously is way down.
Clearly WAY down. Against Livingston, I didn't see ANYBODY going both ways full time. What happened to all that apparent depth?
Good question. I guess they were doing what they could to try and have the best athletes on the field at all times. Clearly they are in a major rebuilding phase.
If that is the case, it didn't seem to do much good. They are either in a major rebuilding phase, or in a total melt-down phase. Or both? -

Probably left there to go to West Sabine unless there was another stop somewhere. Since Walkoviak was still coaching at Jasper when he left, I do not know anything about Jasper's "turning him down". Perhaps he wanted a raise and didn't get it? Regardless, I am happy to see him do well.
Actually Alvarez could have came to Jasper the year Brooks came back (But instead they re-signed Brooks). The only reason he didnt come is because they wouldnt offer him a two year contract they only offered him a one so Alvarez turned Jasper down Jasper didnt turn Alvarez down.
well Jasper clearly made a huge mistake then. Alvarez is a proven commodity. He has won year after year with whatever kids came along. Contrast that to coaches that move to "greener pastures" when the talent pipeline for any given year goes dry. That kind of hides a coach's true talents. There is no question about Alvarez, he is the real deal.

Is Sam playing the freshman QB? He put the britches on Gardner Webb last week. -
Jasper is the definite underDOG. The game is at Center, Center is mad from last year, and Center has won twice as many games as Jasper. Jasper will score on Center, Center will score more. Bet your lunch money on Center. :(
Jasper misses the playoffs this year and if things continue the way they are, they won't make it for years to come.
things will not continue this way. you can count on that. -
Youth has nothing to do with the kind of drubbing that Jasper is receiving.
I agree with that! This is the fifth game of the year. Time to have the youth problems solved.
