This Carthage team, more than any other that I've ever seen, has developed and matured as the season came along... And as to the 2 losses earlier in the season, they were the best thing that could've happened for this team... IMO, it helped kickstart the development of these guys... I can't substantiate the claims that we were missing 9 starters... (I believe that to be incorrect)... We were down our D-1 middle linebacker,  our very talented safety/ receiver was out, and our qb was injured and didn't tell the coaches... AND we got beat... Those nights, Nac and Chapel Hill were better than us... Thankfully, we are as healthy as we can be after having played 15 games in a season... Good Luck to both teams and their families and fans... I expect both teams to leave it all on the field... As far as a prediction, I obviously have to go with my DAWGS!!! [/quote] I don't know what you would call it, but they always seem to have about five players wherever the ball is.  I saw them literally living in the Athens backfield.  But whatever Curtis Barbay ran at Newton, I would guess CS pretty much runs about the same thing.

I have not seen Carthage this year.  But I did see Coldspring last week.  I do believe they would have the edge over the Carthage team I saw last year.  No doubt Carthage has a RB, as did Athens.  We saw how that came out. Coldspring 22, Carthage 21

It seems like a valid question to me.  I had wondered how Athens played Chapel Hill so close (35-38).  Chapel Hill is being touted as the best thing since sliced bread, yet Coldspring handled Athens with relative ease.  I think it indicates that CS and KV are both top level teams.

[/quote] hey, give him the benefit of the doubt.  We will know after Friday night.  Probably not the "best ever" but Coldspring's Gilbert is something to behold.  It will be very interesting to see who can outrun whom.  I saw the Coldspring speed Friday with my own eyes.  If Wimberly has that kind of speed also (or better) then this is going to be one exciting game Friday night!  Get the track scouts to the game!

State champions?  Good chance.

Coldspring.  Real deal.  What else to say?  Lean and hungry.  They manhandled Athens for the most part.  And when they were not manhandling, they were outrunning them.  Don't know anything about Wimberly, but they better eat some extra cornbread.

Poll Question: How Ridiculous is Bh89-2? ehhh...he's tolerable 18 (28.6%) He's a great guy 19 (30.2%) he's really annoying 10 (15.9%) he's super annoying and should be kicked off this site for his stupid posting 16 (25.4%) Total Voters: 63 Great guy, and tolerable seem to be winning!  ;D  I love the guy.  He knows how to punch buttons, and how to laugh when his are punched right back.  It would be a dull board without him.
