I think I read that they are not related.  Not sure though.
 2.
Jasper 56, Center 53
even a blind acorn finds a dog sometime!  ;D Congratulations Jasper!  You are right back in the district race!  :)
 3. Hup, wondered when you would weigh in!
 4.

Can someone explain to me why a 29 year old coordinator who has never been a head coach has been hired over succesful guys like Alvarez and Valastro?
I thought the Carthage QB was his son...If so how could he be 29?  Don't know much about the Morgans other than one about 5-8, 165lbs lit up my sons team about a month ago in Arlington....
not the same Morgan.
 5.
yea "IF" is the key word there.  Everyone keeps saying they got the one with the exprience and keeps talking about his 3 state championship titles.  I got news for you people there is a big difference in being an DC running another Coaches scheme in a program that had unlimited supply of athletes and being the AD of a large 3A School that is coming off a 2-8 season.  Coach Morgan might prove himself to be the better coach of all the other apps but in my opinion as of this moment they didnt hire the "best" Coach available.
only time will tell.  the best long-term coach Jasper ever had had no previous HC experience.  and he was a year younger than Morgan is when Jasper hired him.  and if it proves to be another dumb move, hey, it is Jasper's right to be dumb if they want to...  ;D I am an oldster myself.  I am not at all impressed by "years of experience".  Someone, anyone might have 20 years experience.  Then again, they might have had one year experience 20 times.  Clearly many of the HC type applicants are good.  Very good.  But can these established coaches become immeasurably better than they have been?  If they can, why have they not already reached those heights?
 6.
I got a feeling Coach Alvarez, Coach Val, and Coach Barbay are going to be singing "unanswered prayers" once this is all over.    ;D ;D
or vice versa if he develops a "Carthage like" powerhouse and they have to play Jasper ...  ;D  Jasper has the talent; we will soon see if the coach has the talent.  I suspect that he will.
 7.
nope    just got word he was approved with no problems.    Congrats Coach Morgan
Fantastic!  Go Dogs!  :)
 8. We will soon know about the Board support.  I cannot conceive that Mr. Coleman would have allowed this information to be published unless the Board was on board.  If not, he may find himself in a pickle.  ;)  Then again, it is best that the Board stays out of the selection.  That is why they hire professional administrators.  Jasper is ready to start winning again.  I do not think the Board will want to mess up the works. I admire the District for going for the unconventional pick.  The "safe" picks of the recent past have proved to not be so "safe"!  There are many coaches out there that can win district occasionally.  Very few ever win state.  They offered the job to one who had won three times as head coach, then they turned to one that has participated in three state wins.  That is good enough for me.  We know for sure that he will be thinking "state" and not just district.
 9.
Everyone knows that hiring DC/HC is always going to creat some hard feelings.  A good question for all of those who are upset would be this, Who gives Jasper the best opportunity to have the best football program? The best Football program meaning, Discipline, developing character in the athletes, Football Genius, surrounded by capable assistants, great in community public relations, concerned about the total athletic program as a whole.  The problem with Jasper is simply this: 1. Gloomy outlook before the New coach even hits the door. 2. Mind set, how can Kirbyville, Newton produce successful programs every year, Their athletes love and believe the game they play! once winning is in your blood, its hard to remove. 3. The old glory days of Jasper sports, yea back in the day! times have surely changed, and the generation has as well. alot of these young men who take the fields today are the same fields that their fathers played on. 4. i just bet you their parents weren't up at the fieldhouses back in the day trying to disagree with what the coach was doing, lets face it, until parents start holding their athletes accountable for working hard like they use to, and put down the cell phones, and all the other distractions they care about more then the game the old schoolers loved to play you wont see a change.  5. finally, maybe just maybe, yall will get the picture in Jasper, Patience!!! you want to win, but simply just move out of the way, and let this new Coach do his job!
Agreed!  Administrators, parents, fans:  Everyone get out of the way and let the new coach develop his program.  I do not know details of what has happened in the post Walkoviak era, but it sure seems that perhaps there may have been way too much interference at times.  On the other hand, it is the responsibility of the AD/HC to sell his program and win folks over.  If he cannot sell his program, it is time to move on.
 10. they working on it!
 11. There is no way to know who the best applicant is until all the applications are in.  If Jasper offered the job before all the applications were in, that would not be ethical and nor fair to all the other applicants.  Jasper's duty to the athletes and fans is to hire the best applicant possible for Jasper.  That is a judgement call.  Jasper fans will have to trust that the right call was made.
 12.
Do believe the drama is over and this is a lock. I believe the energy surrounding Jasper Football next year is going to be awesome. They have some good kids coming back and some good kids coming up. Thank the Lord we wont be running that crazy defense again this year! Hope he comes in and evaluates all talent and puts every kid where they best fit his scheme, not necessarily where they played in the past. I like this hire.
I agree.  This is probably a better hire than even Bowman would have been.  Get 'em young while they still have energy and ambition.  And hope they stay awhile........  Welcome Coach Morgan!!!  That is even a good Jasper name!
 13.
Can someone explain to me why a 29 year old coordinator who has never been a head coach has been hired over succesful guys like Alvarez and Valastro? Not criticizing... yet. Just would like to know the reasoning behind this. Kudos to the Jasper admin for going after a guy like Bowman! Even though the swung and missed I like that they tried to bring in a championship winning coach.
my guess is that they think he will prove to be better than the others.  maybe they liked the chemistry better.  Walkoviak was only 28 years old when they hired him and he immediately brought consistent credibility to Jasper football.  I would suggest that he was the best hire they EVER made.  In the past 60 or so years I don't think anyone else came even close to staying at Jasper 20 years.  Nor maintained his winning percentage over any appreciable time.  Here's hoping that Morgan does as well.
 14.
I still dont like and dont agree with the way this was handled by Jasper Admin.  I'm not sure what happened but they normally do a better job than this.
I think it has gone MUCH better than last time.  They seemed to stall and stall and stall.  If the hire happens on Friday, then this may be some kind of Jasper record for least time spent hiring.  :) Apparently Bowman let the Jasper offer news out to serve his own interests.  Can't blame Jasper for that.  Jasper should have yanked the offer at that time on principle.
 15.

Those interviewed were: Bowman- Daingerfield Alvarez- Kirbyville Barbay- Anahuac Morgan- Carthage Stowers- (Formerly Central) Valastro- East Chambers Reportedly Valastro was given much consideration, but the decision was made to go with Morgan
yea once Bowma used them!!!!
In fairness to Bowman, I think we should wait to see if he goes to a different school.  Supposedly Paris has an offer that he must accept or reject by mid-night.  He can only accept one job and you cannot blame a guy for increasing his odds.  But if he stays at DF, then yes he was a definite user!
 16.
Hope this is true. Carthage has had quality/championship football and baseball in the same years and decade. Someone is doing something right up there in Carthage and it shows.
ditto.  maybe he will know how to beat them!  ;D
 17.
Bowman is also the lead dog in the Fredricksburg and Paris HC positions. I think it is a power play to get more money out of Daingerfield.
or one of the other two schools.  guess he could not take all the jobs offered.
 18.
I think Huntington will get this one.  But, I have been wrong before,  I thought they should have beat Center and especially Diboll the other night.  But, I think it being at Huntington will give them the little over the top to get the win.
not to even mention the gestapo!  ;D
 19. This will be a very tough game for Jasper.  I have no prediction.
 20.
My son said that coach Alvarez never left the school during the day and he also said that coach Alvarez has shown no signs of leaving
may have been a phone interview...  ;D
 21.
The Morgan that was the QB was the old Hardin AD Mike Morgan son.
Thanks!
 22. I doubt you will see an "official" list before the apply deadline.  That would not be fair to late applicants.  It probably would not even be legal.  And I hope the administration keeps an open mind until the deadline passes.  A super (even more super than any that have already applied) applicant might apply at the last minute.
 23.
They beat them that bad, it must have been at Hudson.
yes, the game was at Hudson.  never count Hudson out.
 24.
Final was 43-36. sloppy game.........Hudson beat Jasper by two....57-55 I think.............
dang on both counts!  >:(
