I mean come on really 18-0 against LCM isnt very impressive!
    [/quote]

The Mustang offense is coming around and it will take a few games, but what the 18-0 doesn't show was that LCM never got anywhere near the red zone (I don't recall them making it inside the 20 all night...but I have been know to make a mistake from time to time). LCM had 37 rushing yds with the longest be 16 yds, 85 passing yds with the longest being 27 yds. LCM only crossed mid field a few of times. All WOS needs is one score whether it be a FG, TD, or a safety (like the one in the video on post #23), and the defense will do the rest. I'm not comparing PNG offense to LCM offense just saying that WOS "D" is that good and is what Mustang football is and has always been about.

Ahh why not, here is the video again. I can't believe no one even came close to putting a block on him, untouched to the QB.

we dont have a good record against the stangs, think we have lost the last 7 if im not mistaken. Wos has a very good defense. From what i saw last night i dont think the offense we have is gonna cut the mustard. no running game it is non existent! AJ throwing the ball over chipmans head over and over isnt gonna cut it. we will have to spread out the stangs defense and go vertical if they are capable of getting that done. we wont have any success running the ball if we dont, im sorry no running game regardless. It wont get any easier the week after that either. i hate to say it but if i was in the pickems i would go with the stangs.

Actually, PNG has lost the last 4 times. They lost in 1997-2000 but beat WOS in 1996, 35-7.  PNG has lost 11 out of the last 13 games and has a total history record of 6 and 14 against WOS.

I'm gonna have to go with the 'Stangs in this one, a nail biter 13-7.

    The information I have says PN-G and WO-S last met in 2003 and PN-G won a nail-biter, 14-13.

We do have a terrible record overall against the Mustangs, though.

Wow, I missed those three seasons 01-03, skipped right over it.  You are correct.

awesome sack no doubt but comparing lcms offense to pngs isnt exactly close.
but i agree they will have to step it up, the stangs defense can and will bring the wood. Im glad we have yall back on the schedule it has been long over due. its just a shame that it wasnt three years sooner, i would say we would have gotten wins the last three years, but with this years team i wouldnt think like that. But come Friday i guess we shall find out.

I definitely wasn't comparing PNG's offense to LCM's offense, no comparison there at all.  I was just pointing out the Mustang "D" ;)

  5. That was my reaction at the game. All I could say was WOW. He went in untouched, the QB never saw him. If he did, it was at the very last second.  I feel bad for everyone that left the game early and everyone that wasn't watching.  Everybody on WOS side jumped back and let out a big ohhhhhhh at the same time. Too bad WOS doesn't have a big video screen like Allen HS.

I could care less about what happened during the Clinton administration and you can post all the stats from the Reagan era you want. I'm talking about right here and right now and right now we would clobber your football team in a regular season game and you know it. Period.

We will each have our own opinion so there is no need to argue about it. You said that Vidor was the best team in OC and I was pointing out that the best team in OC has a losing record to WOS.

I don't know about you but personally I do expect, most of the time, a 4A school the size of Vidor or Nederland to beat a much smaller school like the barely 3A WOS.  WOS has maybe 40 kids and most of them playing both sides of the line and are still holding their own with the likes of Vidor and Nederland who have 60+ kids on the side lines.

Clobber, I doubt it.  Hypothetically, "if" they were to play and "if" Vidor were to win.... it would be a narrow margin and wouldn't be much of a victory for Vidor to beat a little 3A school.
  7. I don't say much but I will say this, since 1977 WOS and Vidor have played 22 time and WOS has won 15 of those times. The majority being blowouts like:

    1998 WOS 68 Vidor 0
    1997 WOS 63 Vidor 0
    1993 WOS 35 Vidor 0
    1992 WOS 35 Vidor 0
    1990 WOS 48 Vidor 7
    1987 WOS 33 Vidor 0
    1986 WOS 49 Vidor 7
    1985 WOS 24 Vidor 0
    1984 WOS 28 Vidor 7

6 where Vidor did not score
    3 where Vidor scored 7
    1 where Vidor Scored 6
    The other 5 were:
    21-17
    28-11
    18-10
    14-13
    26-20

The largest margin of victory for Vidor over WOS was 1983 28-7

    1999 Vidor 22 WOS 17
    1996 Vidor 20 WOS 19
    1991 Vidor 28 WOS 24
    1983 Vidor 28 WOS 7
    1981 Vidor 16 WOS 14
    1978 Vidor 9  WOS 0
    1977 Vidor 21 WOS 9

I guess you meant Vidor was the best team in OC this season :D

Great to hear about the agreement between SETXsports and KOGT, my two favs.
  8. The game is played because it is good for Orange. We, the fans, get to get on here and talk about it all week and it gets the community buzzing. I think it's a necessity and it will give LCM a good measuring stick, in a REAL game, about how far they've come. I wish them luck and I hope it's a good game, just not too good of a game. ;D

The biggest thing is that I hope both sides realize that they are friends playinig a game and they don't let emotions get out of hand and each team come away healthy. After this game, we will all be pulling for one another so hopefully, this game doesn't impact either teams rest of the season negatively.

    Well put.

  9. I hope the Bears play well and I hope that it is a great game, like it was two years ago when it came down to the catch in the endzone at the end of the 4th to win the game.  But I still like to get all the LCM fans in a frenzy.  Most of my friends and my wife are all from LCM and I went to WOS, so I've got this to hold over their heads for 14 years now and hopefully making it 15.  I have nothing against any of those kids.  I truly hope it is a great, close game.

I cant understand why a team like WOS that prides itself on playing such a tough preseason schedule would even want to play the Bears when its so evident from this thread that the Bears dont have a chance. ::)

    It's a cross town rival.

  10. I am about to ruffle so feathers, but thats not the bad part.  The bad part is I just don't care.

it seems no matter what wos does/done or who they beat some will still put them in the underdog role. what has lcm done to show anyone that they could come close to beating wos???

Like Venom33 says, what has LCM done to show that they can even have a chance at beating a team like WOS.  No offense to anyone, but winning a couple of scrimmages doesn't count.  Which, by the way, according to another thread the winner hasn't been determined in one of those.  Here's how I see it going down, Friday afternoon LCM has a big pep rally and gets all pumped up.  Crouch gives a big talk before they take the field Friday night. By 8:00 PM, they are not as pumped because they can't stop WOS from scoring.  By 8:30 they are completely heart broken, and it just goes downhill from there.  And the night ends with the entire team crawling back to the locker room like little cubs.

***A bear may be bigger and stronger than a mustang, but that doesn't matter one bit if that bear can't catch the mustang.***

  11. I think LCM is going to be very much improved over the last few seasons, and Crouch knows exactly what Hooks and the 'Stangs are going to do,  but they still won't be able to stop it.  WO-S is too fast for LCM.  I am going to be generous and give LCM 2 td's.

    WO-S 42

    LCM 14

  12. I have to agree with Venom33, that was not the real Mustang team that showed up for the first part of the Silsbee game.  However, they were there at the end of the game, btw, I believe WOS still won that game and is still unbeaten.  I think the 'Stangs were tired and just needed some rest from all the points they have put on the board so far this season  :o ........ Now back on topic.......

I wish BC all the luck in the world.....not gonna happen though.  It will be as bad as last year, or worse.

FYI, yes it was mentioned by 92 that "but IMO Silsbee is a better team than WOS and they only scored 21 on us", and, No, there is no way Silsbee is better or even a little better the WOS.

  13. I gotta jump in and say that I agree with venom33, roids or not, not just anybody can stand in the batters box and hit pitches from the best pitchers in the world.  I don't care how strong you are or what you take to increase muscle mass, if you don't have the reaction time and hand-eye coordination......you can't judge where the pitch will go and in what direction it is moving, what kind of spin is on the ball, and the speed of the pitch to start the swing and position the bat to make contact.  A person has 4/10ths of a second to see the ball, decide where it will cross the plate and make up thier mind to swing.  You can't say steroids help with that.  This part of the game is mental, which takes practice, practice and more practice.

Now, on the other hand, roids will allow one to hit the ball with more power.  Look at Biggio, he is not big by any means.  He can hit home runs and must swing harder where Bonds on the other hand, doesn't have to swing near as hard to make the ball go further.  I think if you look back when Bonds first enterd the league, none of the hr's he hit went very far over the fence.  But to be hitting them into the river and out of the stadiums, on a constant basis now, leads to suspicion.  I've watched Mcgwire all of his career and have seen tons of hr's he hit.  In the last year with the A's and the first year with the Cards, I started seeing hr's reaching upper decks on a more consistant basis.  I got to witness batting practice at the dome a number of times and Mcgwire was pounding them out and reached the upper deck twice.  When Bagwell and Biggio are just getting the ball into the Mezzanine level and upper part of the general admission seats in centerfield, and Mcgwire is hitting the wall behind the upper deck seats.......you can tell something is up.  If the dome had not had a roof on it and a wall been there, he would have hit one completely out of the stadium.....that's unheard of.  In the 35 year history of the Astrodome only 9 hr's have ever reached the upper deck during game play......and in the 1998 season when Mcgwire played there he made number 9.  I know niether of them have tested positive, but do a search for pics of both of them and look at the differences from early in the career and later in the career, then look at their stats and see the difference in the number of hr's per season and you'll see the big jump from around 30 hr's per season to the 50's and such.  Those warning-track flyball outs now turned into hr's.
