  1. Very good post Hawkeye, it was nice to get an un-biased perspective on all of this. And thanks for the kind words diamond-j and Scalp'em. It is nice to see that some people recognize a tough, hard fought football game for what it is. And that is exactly what this was. It was a shame someone had to lose this game, both teams have a lot of tradition and a lot of pride, and neither team wanted to see their season end. There has been a lot of talk on this board about the trash-talking and showboating of the Brenham team, and some of it may be warranted. But I am hear to tell you that the trash-talking was coming from both sides, that is just how it is sometimes in a fiercely competitive game that neither team wants to lose. Anybody that has played sports in their life will tell you that. As far as the so-called "dancing"  before the kickoff, this is something that the Brenham team started many years ago, it is not meant to demean any opponent, it is just what they do to get themselves ready to go and show togetherness. The game is supposed to be fun, remember? And please, stop blaming the referees. I have been watching high school playoff games for many, many years. Only on a few occasions have I seen a call actually impact the outcome of a game. And this wasn't one of them. PNG is a very good football team, but they had a bad first half and the Cubs took advantage of it. I want to close by saying I am very sorry to hear about the death of the PNG student and classmate, my thoughts and prayers are with his family and the rest of the Indian community. Maybe we will see each other again in baseball season.
  2. Rollinac, I have had about all of the purple I can stand for one night, lol. Got to get some sleep so I can go watch our girls play for the state volleyball championship tomorrow in San Marcos. But I'll be back soon enough.
  3. Thanks for the kind words ndn fans. Best of luck next year, you guys bring a passion not many high schools can match.
  4. Congratulations to the Indians on a great season. Your team showed a lot of heart in coming back in the second half and making it a game. On the "class" remark about our coach, Glen West is one of the best men you will ever meet. In the heat of a big game, his decision making may make you scratch your head at times. But believe me, it definitely is not a lack of class. Love the passion your town brings to the games, good luck next year.
  5. That's a good question 66? I don't know if they will be able to handle it or not. We will find out soon. Stats, D1 recruits, etc....None of that means anything anymore. Brenham, and I am sure PNG, both have had several teams with multiple big time players that never made it far in the playoffs. It is all about how you play on that given day. Best of luck!!
  6. One more day! Here's wishing everyone from Brenham and PNG a safe trip to and from the game. Good luck to both schools. To tc35, thanks for the kind words, but I wouldn't say Brenham should be favored in this one. The Cubs are very athletic, but they are also still a young football team. Three juniors and four sophomores start on defense, so mistakes sometimes turn into big plays. But the Indians will probably need some big plays to win. I could be wrong, but I don't think they will just be able to put together long, time consuming drives because the Cubs have too many playmakers. This will be a very exciting, hard fought game with the team that avoids the big mistake coming out on top. Let's hope the rain doesn't ruin it.
  7. That Caney Creek video is a freshman game.
  8. Nice post from CRBC. Thunderlicious needs to put down the crack pipe, and slowly back away!!
  9. Thanks, good luck to the Stangs too.
  10. Akifan94, thanks for the reply, and a pretty good scouting report on the Cubs. About the crowd, I am well aware of how PNG travels. I still remember back in my day watching the Indians in those playoff games in the Dome back in the late 70's. I was awestruck by the sea of purple. But Brenham will represent well. Everybody on here keeps talking about PNG not getting respect, but if anybody knows anything about high school football, they know about the tradition PNG has. This is going to be a good high school playoff game, both teams have been ranked high in the Greater Houston area all year. This may have been a down year in our district, but all four teams are still playing. The Waller game was simply one team being hungrier than the other. Brenham had already clinched the district, and Waller was playing to get into the playoffs. The Cubs led 14-3 midway through the 4th quarter when everything went wrong. The Bulldogs rallied for two late td's to pull the upset 15-14. Brenham will be a little more focused in this one. The only thing wrong with your scouting report is that the Cub d-line is not big except for Malcolm Brown, a 6'3" 275 lb sophomore. The rest of the defense is small, but very quick. Should be a good one, best of luck!!
  11. What's up Eagle07? Man, the PNG fans on here are great. But, you are in for a rude awakening. This has been a very entertaining thread. You guys act like you are the only team in Texas that follows your football team. I doubt very seriously you will be sitting anywhere near the 50 yard line on the Cubs side. And as far as our football team goes, you will find out all about it on Friday night. This is going to be a great game, but you better come to play. Baddog stated incorrectly that the last time we played at Reliant a few years ago, PNG won. Wrong. Brenham won that game. And yes, Nederland beat Waller this year in the first game of the season, and Brenham just lost to Waller. Please take the Cubs lightly because of this fact!!! That will buy you a nice early exit from the playoffs. I promise you, you have not played a team with the speed and athletic ability this team is coming with. However, the Cubs are very young, starting four sophomores on defense and playing only six seniors on offense and defense combined. So who knows, maybe next year is our year. We'll see soon enough. I have always admired the passion that the PNG fans bring to the table, but you have gone overboard here. Accusing the Brenham coach of being intimidated by your crowd? Whatever? Accusing the Cub players of trash talking? OK? I think you can ask anyone about the class of Brenham's athletes, and not get an unfavorable comment from anyone. But that's okay. We'll see you Friday, bring your A game!!! You will need it.
  12. I think I'm gonna hurl!!!! I can't watch the game either, my wife wants me to go shopping with her. Hook 'em!!!
  13. Thoughts and prayers to this young man's family from Brenham.
  14. Congratulations Jerrod! Very happy to hear the news. Best of luck.
  15. Hook 'em Eagle07!!! Went to the game yesterday, we didn't hit. TCU pitchers did a great job. Gotta take this one tonight. Sales is just my day job, lol.
  16. For those of you that have congratulated the Brenham Cubs on winning the Region III championship, I want to say a sincere "thank you". Congratulations on a great season to the Nederland Bulldogs, you have nothing to hang your heads about. You played a great series and I really like the way your team plays the game. You could tell they are a well coached group of young men. I was astounded at the way a young group of high schoolers hit the cutoff man and made perfect throws to the plate time and again to nail potential Cub baserunners. And I would take 9 of your catcher in my lineup any time. Wish I knew how many runs he saved blocking balls in the dirt during the series. Congratulations again.
  17. No doubt bzzboyz!! It seems like every year, one of the two Corpus schools are penciled in as the 4A state champion before anyone has strapped on a batting glove. Both are great programs, seen Moody many times in Brenham, and we all know what kind of history they have. Calallen is also very talented and it is their crown until somebody takes it away. Let's hope that Region 3 represents well, if not the Cubs, then Nederland. Let's bring the title back here, it's been awhile.
  18. It's all you eagle!!!! Don't worry, I was not counting out my alma mater, the Waltrip Rams, they have a very solid young squad. The difference in the game last night was only two swings of the bat, so believe me, it is far from over. Bellow must have pitched a heck of a game for Nederland last night. But that series isn't over yet either. Should be some great games tonight.
  19. What's up eagle07? You are right roughrider, this Cub sophomore class has played a lot of baseball. SS Drake Roberts and P/OF Ty Schlottman are move-ins, but the other five on the varsity roster for the playoffs (1b/P Colten Walla, OF Chance Bolcerek, INF/P Zach Jacobs, OF/P Colin Crenshaw and C Corey Bentke), were all members of the Washington County allstar team that captured three state championships in little league. Their are several more talented sophomores coming up from the JV. This junior class which includes Wellbrock, Preuss, Weiss, Spivey and Hall is also very talented, the Cubs are going to be very tough for the next several years. The JV went 19-2-1 this year and the sophomore team (made up of all freshmen), went 20-2. Both teams captured district titles. Bolcerek, Schlottman and Crenshaw will be key members of the Cub football team this fall. The fact that this Brenham team is 29-3 after losing 7 senior starters from a year ago is pretty crazy. All that said, we had two great series with LCM and Barbers Hill and it looks like Nederland has a great team also. The SETX programs look like they are in pretty good shape themselves. Best of luck to Nederland the rest of the way.
  20. Thanks rip and mustang, and you are right, it should be a great series with LCM. It always is when we meet. They are another very experienced team, these young Cubs have their hands full again.
  21. Agree 100% rip09, hated to see any time lose in that fashion. Really feel for the 3rd baseman, just trying to do a little too much at the wrong time to help his team win. Congratulations to Barbers Hill on a great season. I still hate one game playoffs.
  22. Etbu, you need to put the crack pipe down, LOL. How ya been man? Is your boy heading on to play some football anywhere? These Cubs are young, but I would advise The Hill to not take them lightly or give them any bulletin board material like calling them "over rated". They can swing it. But I know the Eagles can too. I hate one game series, but I guess everybody is having to deal with that right now. Should be a great game, looking forward to it. Eagle07, holler at me when you get a chance.
  23. Got a text from Kyler last night saying we are going to finish the Lon Morris game today. Asked him why, and he said something about just to remove all doubts and questions about who will be the 4th seed. Seems a little silly to me, but what do I know. Great to see the Roadrunners in the post-season, everybody is even again now. Can't wait to see the team back in Brenham.
