  1. Barry's HR against the Cubs was a blast that landed on the building deep over left center field. At least 450 ft. Been watching baseball at Fireman's for about 25 years and was probably the longest I have seen there. A mammoth shot.
  2. Eagle07, must have been a little late last night. It was David Pfuntner (Bryan) who hit the 3-run homer in Game 1. Great job by Kendall. Must mention that freshman Logan Moss (Cy-Fair), turned in a sterling relief effort in Game 2 after the Roadrunners had fallen behind 6-2. We will let you slide on this mistake, but don't let it happen again lol.
  3. Very sorry to hear the news about Kenny's dad. Our prayers are with him and his family.
  4. Thanks for the update Bears. You and Eagle07 need to keep us guys from the other end of the world updated. Hope to meet you soon, it should be a fun year.
  5. Very sorry to hear this tragic story. Thoughts and prayers to Joel's family from Brenham.
  6. It will be interesting to see if the Cubs really do all they can to win those games against the Brewers. Don't count the 'Stros out yet, crazier things have happened.
  7. What's up etbu? Long time. Is your boy going to some camps and getting ready for football?
  8. Not sure if it is true, but rumor has it that Angelina has signed another pitcher in Tyler Grygar from Bryan. If this rumor is correct, another good arm for the Roadrunners. Class is looking pretty strong.
  9. Bearbooster, I didn't make that quote, I just voiced concern for the young man. And I never said that Brenham has never been guilty of the same overuse of a pitcher's arm. Ask a guy by the name of Jon Peters, who set a national high school record for consecutive wins while pitching for Brenham in the late 80's, what overuse will do to a pitchers arm. He never threw a meaningful pitch in college. There probably isn't a coach around that hasn't done it at one time or another. I would also bet that Brenham parents and fans were questioning the decision and not very happy about it when it happened in 2000. What about LCM, ever have it happen there, and how did you feel about it?
  10. Stepchild, your post is dead on. I know I am a biased observer and a Brenham parent, and both sides behavior left something to be desired during this hard fought series. When three games are this tight with so much on the line, there is bound to be some bad blood and friction. But you described almost exactly what took place on the field after the series. I still can't believe the actions of parents at a high school baseball game. Yes, some Brenham teenagers got out of line with the megaphones ragging on the Lamar coach, but that was kids, not adults. I have been playing or watching baseball for over 40 years now, and I have never seen a team display the poor sportsmanship and cockiness I witnessed from the LC team and parents. I would have hated to see how they would have acted had they lost. All that being said, it was a great series and LC is a very talented team. I also agree with you about there junior P Brady Rodgers. This was a case of a coach putting winning above all else. I can promise you if our coach had done the same thing and came back with Mangan in Game 3, Brenham would still be playing. But that was not an option, and his dad wouldn't have allowed it anyway. I understand the young man's competitiveness and all, but sometimes you have to do what is right, win or lose. It will be interesting to see how the kid feels in the next series, and I hope for the kid's sake, there are no long term effects.
  11. EAGLE07, sorry to hijack the thread, but by seeing your posts, you must be the father of Barbers Hill's Kendall Thamm. If so, our son's will be teammates at Angelina next year and I just wanted to say hello. Sorry to see you guys get knocked out of the playoffs, I think it would have been a great series between BH and Brenham. Best of luck to your son in college.
  12. Congratulations on a great season Dayton!! I know it's hard to see the dream end, but you guys had a special year.
  13. Ok, thanks, it's nice to know he is doing well. Arthur was a senior QB and I was a walk-on freshman QB and now both of our sons are QB's in high school. Pretty neat after all these years. Good luck to WB in the playoffs.
  14. Is Christian's dad named Arthur? If so, I think I played with him for a short time at SHSU.
  15. We can win the District 18-4A title with a win over Willis Friday night. Just about all of our games have been close, just like the Nederland game. It looks like if we can clinch a spot this Friday, we will be the D1 representative this year.
  16. Thanks guys. I thought PNG had already clinched a spot, but now I see if they beat Central, they are in. Good luck to all of you, I have been keeping up with your district since our opener against Nederland.
  17. No, no, please don't take that comment wrong, I really just didn't know. I appreciate you guys helping me out. Has PNG already clinched a playoff berth?
  18. Thanks NedDog, I already knew how it worked, I just didn't know where to go to get the enrollment numbers. So it looks like PNG will be the D1 representative because they are in already, aren't they?
  19. By the Dayton question, I mean how would they fit in if they make it?
  20. Can someone explain the D1 and D2 situation for 22-4A for me? For instance, say PNG, Lumberton and Nederland make it, who goes D1? Dayton?
  21. Sorry guys, but I had to chime in on this one. They didn't really punt from the 27 yd line, did they?
  22. Oh, district 24-4A should have also been included in that last post.
