  1. Great series PNG. Love the fight in your team. Best of luck to you guys next year.
  2. I know Montgomery and New Caney start Thursday night in Montgomery and then play Friday in New Caney. I believe the schedules are in the Chronicle today also. I know that's hard to believe.
  3. Yeah, thanks for the well wishes. Ty will move back to right when he isn't pitching, and the batting order may be how you have it regardless. But Nutt and Baker will have to play in the outfield when Ty is pitching, at least that's how it appears. I think Jacobs will be in the 9 hole though.
  4. BrenhamFan, great job. But the lineup may be a little different. The Cubs lost starting LF Colin Crenshaw to a broken bone in his leg about two weeks ago, so I see the lineup with a couple of different scenarios. I think when Ty is on the mound, Jesse Baker moves to LF and Shea Nutt goes to right. Jeremy Zettel will go to 3B in this case and Knebel will either hit for Ty or Jeremy. When Ty is not pitching, the lineup could also change depending on who gets the #2 starters job between Nutt and Kevin Kubeczka. Not sure that has been completely decided. Just my two cents.
  5. Thanks for all the great coverage Brenhamfan. Just wanted to let you that Crenshaw starts with a "C". The Cubs faced some great competition in this tourney and came out with only a 2-2-1 record. Brenham now stands 3-2-1 on the young season. Just need a few more timely hits and things will get rolling. Go Cubs!!
  6. Average? Shootin a little high there, aren't ya Bears? Be seeing you soon eagle and best wishes to Kendall this year, except if he pitches against us. Hey, guess you heard the AC boys swept San Jac this weekend?
  7. Just thought I would chime in, haven't been on in a while and I love the SETX passion. Just wanted to say congratulations to Kingwood Park and good luck to you and to Dayton in Round 2. I also wanted to correct the folks who have indicated that we were looking past KP. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our coaches learned back in '07 when we were upset in the 1st round by Austin LBJ to never look past anyone in the playoffs. They knew KP had some talent and would play hard, and so did the kids. This was just one of those games that when something could go wrong, it did.  You can't fumble the ball 4 times deep in your own territory and win against any opponent. Just too many mistakes, but I am proud of the Cubs and it says a little something about the fight in the team that they were actually still ahead with about 5 minutes left in the game. Best of luck to all the rest of the region in the playoffs, bring a title home.
  8. A little biased of course, but the Brenham-Waller game in 2007 was a thriller from start to finish. The lead changed  hands or was tied up on nine different occasions during the game. Tied 27-27 at the end of regulation, Brenham scored on a TD pass in the OT to make it 34-27. Waller scored on the very next play and after calling time out, elected to go for two and the win. The Cub defense stopped the run a half yard from the goal line and won 34-33. Needless to say, a great game from start to finish, especially with it being a huge rivalry game.
  9. Thoughts and prayers to the Garrett family from Brenham. Very sorry about this tragic event.
  10. Sorry to hear that, tough way to go out. The kids deserved to decide a game like that one. Great season PNG. Congrats Mustangs.
  11. Congrats Jerrod, and you too Dale! From another former Roadrunner.
  12. Only one other correction, the Cubs have NOT won 26 consecutive district titles, but they have made 26 consecutive playoff appearances. This number is still very impressive and it won't come to an end anytime soon. It is a streak that the players in Brenham are very proud of, but also lends itself to a lot of pressure on each new group of kids entering high school every year. They have a strong tradition to live up to, and anyone that thinks it is easy is wrong. Thanks very much for the article.
  13. Thanks CircleChange. Hey API Steve, we were just wondering what it's like to go through life being a whining, has-been, DEFEATED, PUNK LOSER that hides out on message boards. That's what you are, so you should be able to tell us. Congratulations to the Aledo Bearcats on winning the Class 4A Division II State Championship!! And to the Cubs, thanks for the great ride and many wonderful memories. With a lot of talent returning, should be a fun year next year as well.
  14. Thanks Tony. Enjoyed watching you play the last couple of years, hope your knee gets better in a hurry so you can get back on the field. Best of luck.
  15. ;D Oh, man this could be anybody from Jimmy, to Mark, or Todd. We have had several tote the colors this year, LOL. Can't wait til Saturday.
  16. Anthony was a pretty good guard himself back in the old days. Glad to hear that about Nick, I know Anthony is excited. My son Kyler was Brenham's QB two years ago, and I have a junior who was playing corner for the Cubs. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL after week 2 this year, so he has had to enjoy the ride from the sideline while rehabbing. But rehab is going well, he will hopefully be back for most of baseball season. I agree with you, I think the defenses will be the key. Brenham's offense has come a long way since the Montgomery game. And you are probably well aware, we have a tendency to spend a lot of time in the opponents backfield. If we can limit the big plays, I think we will have a great chance to win this thing. The Aledo team reminds me a little of Montgomery, a great running back and a QB that will hurt you if you give him time. Should be another great game.
  17. Mark, thanks for all of your scouting reports and intelligent posts, it has been enjoyable. Many years ago, I played high school ball with someone you probably know in Montgomery, Anthony Alvarez. His son is an offensive lineman for the Bears. He has always been a great guy. This game is something that doesn't happen very often to us or our kids, it is a very exciting and blessed time. GO CUBS!!! Bring the title home to Brenham and Region 3.
  18. Thanks liltex and the rest of you SETX supporters. I think that might be the nicest thing you've ever said about the Cubs, LOL.
  19. Great game tonight Broncos and fans. Thanks for coming on and showing some class after such a hard to take loss. You guys have a great team and I have to agree with all of you on one thing. Dayton is a very well coached football team. They execute what they do well and play hard on every play. Two very evenly matched teams on that field tonight, best of luck next year. Not promising anything on delivering that championship back to Region 3, but I guarantee you the effort will be there. GO CUBS!!!
  20. Didn't even know where you were from, but now your ignorance is understandable!
  21. Okay, it's game day now. Just been sitting back all week, getting a good chuckle out of most of these posts. But it's time. I am not one to talk too much trash, but this is how I see this one. There is a storm coming to Katy, and they are naming it Brenham. This team is young, but they are hungry for this one. It is funny how teams compare the Cubs to other teams they have played. All I keep reading about is the Broncos defense. But I promise you, this Cub defense takes a back seat to no one. It sounds like the Bronco soph QB is a good one, but he hasn't played against a defense as skilled and fast as this one. Angleton may have made them look a little slow in one quarter, but the Wildcats have the fastest backfield I have ever seen for a high school team. The Bronco secondary better be real good, because these Cub receivers are the real deal and Schlottman will get the ball to them. I now want to say best of luck to Dayton, a few of you on here know something about the game instead of just getting on here and talking trash. At least you aren't as bad as PNG about that. Cubs and Bronco fans, drive safe. GO GREEN!!!! Prediction Brenham 24, Dayton 13
  22. Absolutely, the deep runs these two had last year played a big part in getting them here. And they are both still fairly young. Don't be surprised if they are back again next year.
  23. Haha, like you said, just a little playful banter. Seriously, this is going to be another in a long line of great playoff games this year. This region is more balanced than ever, with plenty of teams that are or were capable of competing with any in the state. I've said it many times, when teams are this comparable, the one that makes the fewest mistakes and gets the breaks usually comes out on top. I still think it was funny when you said I was talking with "some Waller moms in my office". That was pretty good,  :D : I wish all of our opponents would get their scouting reports from the players moms.
  24. LOL, Rollinac, I see you working, don't bite Cub fans. I have seen your posts before and you really aren't the trash talking type. You usually just have good sound takes. You are trying to get someone to start talking trash, and we don't do that, we let our play do the talking. Everybody can throw last year out the window, these are two different teams. Good luck to the Broncos, and please, keep thinking our defense is slow.
  25. Troy just got his bell rung a little bit. He's fine, thanks for asking. I have a feeling this will be another tough, hard fought game. Good luck Wildcats, GO CUBS!!!
