  1. When I get on these boards, I try to be respectful of all teams Brenham plays, and not get critical of 16, 17, & 18 year old kids out there playing their hearts out every Friday night for their respective schools. But when I saw the comments from "patitan", I felt compelled to respond. Hey, check out the following scores: Nederland 29, Brenham 28 Bay City 42, Brenham 40 Brenham 17, Houston Lamar 16 Now this one: Houston Lamar 43, PA Memorial 8 It appears to me that your Titans are probably happy to not be playing in District 22-4A, 18-4A, or 20-5A. The term "weak and scared" must apply to your entire defense. Ok, that's it. I will not lower myself to that level. But I still think the kids who read these boards would be better served if we praised the winners and supported the ones who fall just a little short on a Friday night. Bay City, Nederland and Brenham all are good football teams and I guarantee you, all three will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time
  2. Great job Titan!! Thank God for answered prayers.
  3. This isn't exactly what a coach said, but what he did. Back in my junior high days in Houston, we had a psychotic eighth grade football coach. He would gather us all in the locker room before the game and he had a small little tape recorder on the floor in the middle of the room. Before every game, he would play the opening speech sequence from the movie "Patton" with George C. Scott. If you have seen the movie, you know the opening line by heart. "Now I want you to remember, that no ba****d ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb ba****d die for his country." Not exactly the language you wanted a bunch of eighth graders listening to, but it sure got you ready to play a football game. Whenever I see any old teammates, we still laugh about it.
  4. Sorry to hear about Green. Best of luck this week!!
  5. As long as the young QB doesn't make mistakes and keeps progressing, they are a lock to make the playoffs. They are very well coached and that goes a long way.
  6. Coach Mangan is carrying over the necktie wearing from his days as an assistant at Brenham under Glen West. West has been doing this ever since he arrived in Brenham. You guys have a good one in Walt. Good luck to HF this year!! So far, so good.
  7. Best of luck to the new QB, and here's hoping Ryan recovers quickly. If he is anything like my son, I know he was really looking forward to his senior year, and it would be great to see him back before the end of the year. If it's not in the cards for that to happen, best of luck in baseball season.
  8. I just wanted to congratulate Nederland on a great win last night. What a great football game!! Giving up two long TD passes, costly penalties at the wrong time, and losing two fumbles in our own territory was just much for the Cubs to overcome. I hope the injury to your QB Sampere is not as severe as some of your fans were saying after the game. He looked like a great leader for your team. Best of luck the rest of the way, and hopefully, we can both make the playoffs and meet again down the road.
  9. I'm just messin' with you guys. Remember the song about "lookin for love in all the wrong places?" I guess that must be me.
  10. Just a quick note guys, this article says that Brenham is ranked 2nd by texashsfootball.com, but those preseason rankings at that site are still from last year. Good luck to Nederland tonight, it is going to be a great show. Coop, the Cubs need some love too.
  11. I just think it is going to be a good opening test for both teams. Good luck yo you guys this year skipper!!!
  12. I wouldn't take Caney Creek lightly. They have a good coaching staff. I guarantee no one will be leaving at halftime, at least not because it is a blowout.
  13. Apologies for the late reply NedDog, been kinda busy. All of Brenham is excited about next weeks game. It should be a great high school football game. Good luck to you guys this year, just not next week.
  14. Brenham @ Round Rock Westwood earlier today Scores by session 7 on 7 (10 plays each) Brenham 1 TD, Westwood 0 15 Plays Each Session Brenham 2 TD'S, Westwood 1 10 Plays Each Session Brenham 1 TD, Westwood 0 One 12 Minute Live Quarter Score: Brenham 10, Westwood 0 Both teams got a lot of good work in today. Cub defense bent at times, but didn't break. Offense was clicking better than last week's first scrimmage. Only one week until the opener at Reliant against Nederland. Should be a great game to open the season.
  15. Thoughts and prayers from everyone in Brenham.
  16. Seriously, are there any bad football movies? Friday Night Lights Rudy Remember the Titans All The Right Moves Brian's Song the list goes on and on Can't believe nobody has mentioned "We Are Marshall" Very good movie.
  17. From the Brenham Cubs, deepest sympathy and prayers to this young man's family.
  18. Brenham can be in on the discussion for toughest schedule: Nederland@Reliant Houston Lamar 5A playoff team '06 Road games against Bay City, Livingston, Montgomery and Caney Creek (all much improved) Home against Waller and Huntsville
