  1. Can we let this one go already guys. Good Luck to two very good teams for the rest of the way.
  2. This was a legitimate question asked to gain info in order to make a better prediction for this match-up. I'll leave the excuses to you K'balla. Your better at making them than me, but don't use em all this week. Save your best ones for next week when those Tigers come calling!!! Your going to need them!!! Kirbyville is suspect in my opinion. They've been blown out twice this year, by the only two teams they've played who anyone thought might test them (Carthage and WOS). BC on the other hand, has been playing with alot of key players out with injuries, but has still managed to stay in the mix. I think a healthy BC team puts K'ville to the test again this week, and as usual they choke under the pressure. The Cardinals win this one by 12 or more.
  3. Does B.C. have a healthy squad coming into this game? :| How many are still out with injuries?
  4. Which Silsbee team will show up for this one?
  5. Jasper is one of those teams you just can't count out until the fat lady sings. I've been waiting all year to here that they have finally put it all together. They won last week and that's a start. I haven't seen them play this yr., but you know they have speed, and probably size. As far as the match up, I think WOS has to much talent and experience in the key position for a young Jasper team. I'm going with WOS on this one, by a couple of TD's. I wish Silsbee had played Jasper a little earlier in the year.

  7. Here are some good pictures from the WOS vs SILSBEE game.[Hidden Content]
  8. This is a silly thread. WOS has been ranked in the top 5 in the state all year. I think everyone knows they can play with any team, size, strength, speed, what have you. The big Question for WOS is depth. They beat a good Dayton team early in the year in the second half of that game, because they were in better condition. ( My hat goes off to the players. They worked hard during the summer, and conditioning was key to that win in my opinion). Last week they played a very good Silsbee team with alot more depth than them, and once again they were able to pull out the win, but this game could have just as easily went the other way. ( MY hat goes off again. You could tell they were getting tired, but finished the game on HEART, and alot of it). Most teams are in top condition by the time the playoffs start. If WOS has an Achillies hill, ( for those of you who think I'm bashing please take note; I did say "IF") it has to be depth. I'm sure Hooks will bring up some JV players as the playoffs get closer to try and give some relief, but that means weakening the chain, by replacing starters with JV players, and a chain gang is only as strong as its weakest link. So in answer to the question " Can they play with SIZE, and SPEED"? the answer is yes. Was there ever any doubt? The Question that should be on your minds is " Will WOSs lack of depth be there undoing in 2006"?
  9. Here are some good pictures of the WOS vs SILSBEE game. Check out page 21. Last series Silsbee has the ball #28 walking into the endzone untouched on the dive, but guess what no football.[Hidden Content]
  10. The hand shaking thing did take place. My son was one of the captains for Silsbee. The WOS captains wouldn't shake hands until the refs made them. It didnt matter to him one way or the other, but he thought it was a sorry gesture on their part.
  11. The ballsy thing to do would have been to go for 2. Silsbee would have kicked it, and kicking it would have been the right thing to do!!!
  12. 22 for 79, that was the difference!
  13. Man it sure must be hard carrying around such big ego's, but you WOS fans have earned it through the years ( alot of great teams ). It wasn't the usual we stomped someone tonight game for you guys was it? I'd probably be trying to reassure my self as well. I'm really proud of both teams. I was glad to be there. I met some of you tonight after the game and it's nice to have a face now to go along with some of the names. I had to poke a little fun at you guys, no disrespect intended.. Didn't get to meet you tam, but I still like ya......
  14. Well I'm sure you would coop, because like coach M said this was Silsbees best game of the year.
  15. You know what tam, I'm sorry that you got your pride hurt tonight. Silsbee out played WOS hands down. I sorry that you feel you need to make excusses for the Mustangs. They had a bad game tonight because they played a better team. They got lucky and came away with the win. I think you know that, and thats why your on here with all this we had our worst game crap!!!!!
  16. Well we could say the Refs called a lousy game, and that's why Silsbee lost, or we could say WOS didn't look so good tonight because the field was wet, are it would have been a blow out as predicted, but what I saw were two very good teams, who were very evenly matched. Both with alot of talent in their own right. No excuses here. Both teams should be very proud of their performances tonight. It was one of those games that keeps southeast Texas football fans packing the stadiums year after year. WOS wanted a challenge and they got one. Congrats to the Mustangs for a big win and alot of heart! Silsbee could have just as easily come away with the W tonight, but they definitely earned alot of respect. Good luck to both teams, and Thanx For A Very Exciting Night!!!!!
  17. WOS fans enjoy it while you can because in about an hour or two all that smack is over.......
  18. That is a very true statement skipper, and shows alot of class as well!! It always feels better to walk away from a Friday night football game with the win, but I've been to a few games in the past where winning and losing became secondary at some point, and I was just glad (from a fans point of view) that I was there to be a part of it. ( Last year Silsbee vs Palestine for example). I think this has the makings of that caliber of a ball game, and win or lose I hope both teams go on to represent southeast Texas well into the playoffs.
  19. We are a bit of a closed community here in Silsbee. We don't like the people who grow up here and leave. So when they come back for HC we like to give em a bit of a reminder why they left in the first place......
  20. The PNG game is going to be the OH WELL, BACK TO THE OLD DRAWING BOARD GAME!!!!!! 8)
  21. LOL, You Lumberton People and your scrimmage wins theory. It cracks me up man!!! I mean it really cracks me up!!!! The Raiders have won more games this season, than they have in as long as I can remember. Take some pride in that. Anyone who knows anything about football, knows scrimmages don't mean a darn thing. It really diminishes your accomplishments as a team to brag about scrimmage wins, and quiet frankly my dear: No one gives a damn There, I've said it and I feel better now....
  22. GOSTANGS wrote: The argument that the RB didn't get the ball enough doesn't fly, especially when, as you pointed out, the QB was running the ball very effectively against the WOS defense in the first half -- had Dugat got the ball more, the QB wouldn't have had such a good night, and the argument today would be the QB didn't run it enough. Dugat had two runs that netted him about 45 yards, but other than that, he did very little for the evening. I think that's what I just said: If you like it better your way then fine, but thanx for agreeing with me. The point is Dayton moved the ball on the ground effectively against the mustangs. Personally I think they tried to pass to often and that hurt them. Silsbee won't be passing the ball. Will they have as much success moving the ball on the ground as Dayton? I think so, but we will have to wait and see. I think the Mustangs are going to be tough. I hope both teams come out without any injuries. Good luck to all. I've been waiting on this game all year, so lets get it on!!!
  23. You make some good points tam. I agree that WOS has a very solid looking team to this point, but I keep asking myself. Other than Dayton, who have they played. Their schedule has really been weak in my opinion. I was at the Dayton game. It was 6 to 6 at halftime, and to be honest I thought Dayton missed a few opportunities that should have put them ahead. I sat with the WOS fans until the half, and some of you were a little worried to say the least. I've read a few of your post, and you like to refer to how WOS stopped the Dayton running back, but I was surprised in that game because they didn't give him the ball more. He didn't get the ball that often, and he did have some good carries. What you don't seem to remember about the game is Daytons QB, he ran the ball all over WOS that night. The way I remember it, the Mustangs came out in the second half and completed a couple of long Passes in the end zone that seem to break an already tired Daytons back. It was early in the season, WOS was in better condition, and to me that is what decided the outcome of this ballgame. I know you could make the same argument about Silsbee, and probably in a little higher style, we haven't dominated anyone this year. The Tigers have done just enough to win, and I won't be surprised at all if they do it again Friday night.
  24. Tigers12 wrote: Not sure that I agree with all of this, but it seems to be a general consensus of a lot of tiger fans these days..
  25. If there is one consistency about the Tigers this year, it would be that they know what they have to do too win, and they've done it. They haven't gone out on Fridays and blown away any of their competitors, but they have found a way to win. WOS has a very good team this year. I have said this all along, but I think the Tigers will rise to the occasion and make it a good game.
