1. OK, Koby Couron 6'3" 230 Brock Pryor 6'2" 275 Caleb Malveaux 5'10" 300 De Shawn Washington 6'3" 275 And they are all very fast!
2.
Looks like the DOGS and Pirates both came out flat in the first half of these games but both got COACHED up at half. Sloppy play still with turnovers but both team did what it took to win. I think it was the wake up call both needed after such a hard fought game last week. Next week Nederland will be closer to full strength hopefully with linemen coming back which will let DeShawn play one side of the ball. Marcus Barton looks to have concussion and PRAY he heals quickly and gets back soon.  I will say that I was a bit too vocal at the game last night and I am SORRY. I just know the talent level these boys can play at and they played nowhere near that tonight.GOOD JOB DOGS! The win is what counts. Just always stay focused on the task at hand.
What about that double nickel grab out of the air last night? I was hoping he would break out of the pack. I love it when a big D-line guy breaks for the goal line. Could you define to loud? My wife tells me I'm to loud and I need something to compare to ;D
3. Homecoming tonight better get there early or park on Nederland Avenue.
4. If you were watching Friday night at the half before the team came back on the field Noel and a coach came back out and he kicked a few to see what his range was it appeared to me. They were probably considering a change but the heavey air did not allow for a real long kick.
5.
As a Nederland fan this was an extremely disappointing game. The win is good, but to struggle with Vidor who was a "good" team but far from elite says the Dogs are just "good" too. Vidor was a 2-3 deep team at best. I thought this was the year for the Dogs... It should be a good year but it looks like that elusive state contender is still something to hope for in years to come. :/
What do you want? 90 to nothing every game? We went into a very fired up Vidor stadium and we won with a O line that was missing a few starters. We have a defense that didn't give Vidor anything, everything they got they earned the hard way. This team proved that it could go toe to toe with #3 in the state, get out of the fantasy and join the real world! The Dogs will be fine!
6. The problem with moving games is the groups that have the concessions. If you play at Lamar, they get all the proceeds from the sale not the groups like PTA that give out scholarships. With a limited number of home games most are not going to give that much up.
7. Ticket sales have been the same as far as I know since Noah got off the ark. Not much has changed. Season Ticket Holders get first pick, then students, then the general public. If you are on the bottom of the list then you may not get one. IF you think Vidor is bad, try LCM and Livingston.
8. I sure am glad that my daughter went early the first day of ticket sales. Vidor may not have to light anything during half time, they may have enough fans smoking mad to light up the area and provide all the fireworks they can stand.
9. One week until the game, anyone want to guess how many more topics will be started?
10.
My mother graduated from Vidor in 1944, the band director in 1941 purchased purple and gold uniforms for the band. In the late 40's or early 50's a new band director came in and changed the colors to black and gold. What year was Nederland established?
I believe Nederland started playing football officially in 1927. A couple of years later PN started playing and then a few more years and they became PNG and thus the start of MCM.
Sorry, Nederland has always been black and gold. Vidor was originally maroon and gold.
Not really??? Maroon and Gold was Thomas Jefferson... When I was at TJ we whooped port Neds bottom. I traded my Marron for Black and keep the Gold...
Really, they were! I believe they changed there colors back in the '60s.

13. You are right about Stampley and Taylor, they are both good on run support and pass coverage. If Washington continues to work, he could be one of the top prospects in this area. One of the other things you can't put a statistic on is that this team just works well together. When a mistake is made, no finger pointing, just renewed effort.
14. One of the Vidor fans ask the question in one of these threads what made our defense so much better than last years version that was very good. There are several changes that have made it better and I think this conversation on putting 8 in the box and Vidor being able to pass on that formation is just one example. With the addition of #10 at safety we not only get great pass defense, but this kid has great run support. He will come up and hit you in a heart beat. Many safeties today just want to take you down with an arm tackle, don't expect that kind of treatment from this guy. Just one change from last year, but a big one.
15. Every team we have played this year has had "speed on both sides of the ball" and we have won both weeks! Guess what, we have speed on both sides of the ball also. Kimler ran an int. back 70 yards and I didn't see any of that team speed catch him!
16. They probably never watched our band. No clue how big it is.
17. If they do that Friday night it could be really interesting.  It would add a whole new meaning to togetherness.
18. I didn't think you could do that by the UIL rules.
19. So taking out for the band and everyone else we will have around 2,800 seats left. I would suggest that everyone bring their antiperspirant,  it could be a little tight.
20. The first games I ever went to in the late '60s the home side was on the Detroit side of the stadium. Who ever said that the move was made because of expanding the seating is correct.
21.

I could have missed something but i don't think i saw a defensive stunt all night. Just straight up rush the QB. How many other teams had 8 sackes by their DE's last week?
they did not have 8 sacks... they had 6 as a team, 2 were stunts, and the DE did not get all of them..
All I know is what they list in the paper, Koby had 10 tackles - two for loses and 3 sacks. De Shawn was listed as 5 sacks. But even if you are correct, tell me how many other teams had 6 (as you say) sacks on week zero!
22. I'm confused, are the Dog's playing GCM or Dayton this week.
