  1. Oh, don't get me wrong....I am by no way commenting on who did get it...I don't even know who got 1st team outfield......I am sure the young man who did get selected is outstanding!  I just thought it was weird considering when i saw the boy play and from what I read in the enterprise about how well he has played.  I read this morning that he went 3-5 against Robinson, 3 RBI's, and scored once himself.  I hear the Robinson team was extremely good.
  2. Its my understanding that All-District selections have been made...i was confused that the Dishon boy didn't make 1st team.    Kid had the most stolen bases, an on-base percentage over .500, and was at the top of rbi's and run's score, and had speed that was unparalleled.  The kid is going to Ole Miss?  Maybe the Olympic baseball team....  Now, I'm from LCM so I'm not too familiar with District 21-3A, but I saw a handful of b.c. Games and the boy was tremendous..... ??? ???
  3. From my experience with Coach Griff and Coach Bourgeois, the only thing that may matter more than winning is turning these boys is to fine young men. Griff and Bourgeois both put as much effort into teaching these kids about right and wrong. Both programs are never without giving back to the community through a charity drive or sending care packages to Iraq. Class acts.
  4. Frankie Tays from LCM was the most effective high school pitcher I have ever seen. That is not to say he was the best or had the most potential, but for those four years of high school, he had numbers as well as anyone.
  5. Venom, I got some good stories for you about Coach Bearden. He was a special man.
  6. The Brehnam tournament is the classic example of...you got to have good players to win, but you don't always win with good players. My hat is off to coach Grifith (sp?), I have never witnessed a coach who always has his teams so prepared, year in/year out. If I'm not mistaken (which my wife says is often), LCM was picked to come in close to last place last year after they graduated a good team. Don't they have LIKE 2 OR 3 SENOIRS ON THIS TEAM?
  7. Regardless of talent, coaches, or circumstances, comments like your's make me proud not to be a part of your program or a fan of your team. Because no matter how good your coaches are or how talented your kids are, cancers like you can ruin programs. Your post is testimonial to the arrogance and ignorance of someone who knows nothing of class, much less what type of programs are built in 22 4A. LCM, PNG, Nederland, and perineal 4A powerhouses. For close to 2 decades, these teams have produced countless wins in the post-season. Moreover, when they have done so, they have won with class; clearly something your short history of success has left you without. Either you are too young or too ignorant to understand that. Or, maybe you have not won enough to act like you "have been there before." Your comments are those of a person who has been jealous for years, and for once - under the guise of anonymity that this forum provides - tries to take pop shots at something you have always wished you could be a part of...a class program. My only hope is that you don't have any measurable impact on the kids on your team. Hopefully your lack of class doesn't rub off on those young men. See, that's the difference in 22 4A. LCM, PNG and Nederland know how to win, but most importantly, they know how to win with dignity, which obviously you checked at the door.
  8. I don't think anyone is doubting that WB is a great team chocked full of talent. But you have to remember, this board is not reserved to only those teams that are in "a league of their own." With all due respect, your post is coming off sounding like you don't want any of the attention taken away from your team. WG, my team is still playing, but most teams are not. The teams that are no longer playing have just as much right to have a discussion on here as we do.
  9. If I'm not mistaken, Griff has been at LCM approx. 15 years. Out of those 15 years, he has gone to the playoffs 14 times. In the entire history of the school, the Bears, under previous coaches, have been to the playoffs in baseball only a handful of times. Clearly he has had some talent, indeed, some phenomenal talent; but there's no way you could have that deep of a well...to go 14 years out of 15? Stevenson is going to be a head coach somewhere and a successful one. I believe he has called every pitch for the past 5 years. I bet Griff hopes he can hold onto Stevenson as long as he can. I believe Griff and Stevenson he had to coach tennis a couple of years ago for the first time. The program had fallen on hard times. They won tourney after tourney and almost won the district title...turned the program around in 1 year. I'm giving 14-15 odds that their success will continue.
