  1. Lets look at this real close !! I thought Griff and Co. did a good job this past season BUT !!! I have to reconsider their status, they can't get past 2 rounds in the playoffs. I think Billy Bryant has them beat hands down. I know yall say he has been fortunate to have such a talented group of kids to work with. I think Griff has benefited more than anyone from just pure talented baseball kids and had one of the most talented teams ever in 2006, yet couldnt get to the show !! I mean come on if you have a kid like Elhert you get on his back and hang on ! I think Stone of PNG is the best coach if we go by record, he put it to Griff when he was wearing black and gold and kept on trucking when he went home to the purple and white... Who was the assistant coach for LCM in 1996 the only year they went to Austin ?
  2. Good write up and well deserved ! I watched him the other night vs Lumberton and he is smooooth ! I was impressed that he bobbled the first or second grounder, then came right back and made play after play, good speed, good bat and good arm.
  3. I went out to watch ole blue my almamater, that part wasnt so good ! But those LCM fans really know how to have fun and keep the ballpark alive, great music and atmosphere ! I caught myself jamming with those moms in the center section ;D They were having a blast !!!
  4. The Senior should always have the first chance to play, but if that Senior is struggling and there is an underclassmen with equal skills, put him in ! The Senior player will probably never play baseball again, to me that would weigh heavy on my decision who gets the start, I just dont see how some coaches can put a talented Senior on the bench and never give him a chance. I would not be able too sleep at night.. Baseball is a game of opportunity.
  5. I see where Dayton gave LCM all it could handle, and the up and coming Pirates travel to Dayton.... Could go either way but....... I say Vidor wins it 5 to 4 in 10 innings ;D Green and Griff in a battle for Coach of the year ??
  6. COOP, I think Vidor and Dayton play Monday giving both teams 4 games in 5 days, what a test for your pitching staff...
  7. Thanks for the info !! You sure jogged alot of memories. The Dad is a non-factor for this one.. I am trying too teach the young man to become his own coach, I do appreciate all of the info this is great ;D.. I will let you know of his progress..
  8. 643 you are barking up the wrong tree !! I do not have a know it all attitude, thats why I was asking Mr. Hitter a question. Your statement is uncalled for and untrue.. Like I said I was asking Mr. hitter his advice on this matter, you need to crawl back under your rock I on the other hand hit 37 Hr's in high school and played 2 years of college ball before tearing my MCL skiing... But just because I was a great hitter does not make me a know it all.. again I was asking Mr. Hitter for advice...
  9. MR Hitter, I have been working with a kid and he keeps striding forward and rolling his back foot over. How do you get them to stay back and pivot ?
  10. I over heard an LCM coach back in 1985 telling my coach that he had a "Player so SLOW he could race a Pregnant Woman and come in Third" :D
  11. I know I am not alone in saying that I gave LCM little to no chance of being one of the top teams in this district. I believe that Griff and Stevenson have to be the best duo since Batman and Robin ;D They have climbed to the top of one of the toughest Baseball districts in the State, and have done so without any experienced varsity pitching and just a couple of returning varsity starters.. Given that the Sophmore class at LCM are some kind of genetic freaks blessed with unbelievable talent and strength . I just cant say enough about the job Griff and co have done putting these guys in a position to win game after game... My Lord how good are these guys going to be the next couple of years ? If you hear a loud crunching sound that is me eating my words !!! Hats off too the dynamic duo
  12. The Raiders will be fine !! Once they have a system in place and the kids believe in it, Lumberton will be the Class of 4A/5A Baseball in this area. I drove around Lumberton the other day and the growth is incredible ! So you know its just a matter of time before all of those little rascals running around that can afford to play select ball and get loads of private lessons reach high school and dominate the diamond. I am suprised that know one has built an indoor training facility for baseball, Lumberton is ready for one and it would do great business..
  13. Maybe to much polen in the air. ??? Or and this is just a thought but that many of the fathers Coach their kids and think they are the experts.
