Overrated is such a ridiculous term. I guess the NE Pats going undefeated, only to lose the SB were overrated....yeah right. Evadale did what they had to do to win their district and take their chances in the playoffs just like everybody else. Just because they lost doesn't make them anything more than a victim of the playoff system. Hats off to Evadale for playing with grit and determination.

They said in their paper they were motivated by the trash talking PNG fans did leading up to this game. Man if that is the only way you get up for a game I feel sorry for them. I would say the officials were more up for the game than the Cubs were. I have never seen before when you tackle a receiver and not get a penalty. The taunting and the showboats were embarrassment. They looked like thugs in the hood. They also said they were disrespected by the fans from PNG. This also sounds like a bunch of babies to me. If they look for external forces to get motivated and not a desire from the inside of the player, they have a lot to learn about life. I would think you would wish the team that beat you good luck in the future. (You always want to get beat by the best team in the state, it makes you look better if you they win it all). But I don’t see how you could wish these guys good luck in the future. They will get what is coming to them, if they have an honest zebra group that is.
GEEZ! Now we start playing the race card!
Where?
Np baddog..thanks for all you do..the Rebs have nothing to be ashamed about..they had a great season..even though I was called many names and constantly put down for expressing my opinion...I will say that to the Evadale faithful. Believe it or not I was hoping they would prove me wrong tonight. But they have to understand that the Lovelady's the Tenaha's the Alto's and the Marts' and really the best teams in the state in 1A. Evadale is the best 1A team in SETX..but they play in a weak district. Once again HATS OFF to the Rebs for going 10-1 this season..keep your heads up and good luck next year.
Not sure about the ''all you do'' comment, but OK. :D The Evadale man I work with, when I asked him who they had next and he said Mart, I said' ''Uh Oh''. He smiled and said, ''They're good, they'll probably stomp our butts''. But I don't believe even he thought this bad. I know Mart was 2A because you beat East Chambers (was it two years in a row?) a couple years back. When did you drop to 1A, last realignment?

Brenham is some huge German boys and they're full of ice cream. ;D They are in the mix every year in just about every sport. I know this isn't the same Brenham team, but we beat them @ Reliant two years ago when no one gave us a chance. I think PNG has a very good shot at winning this game. It will have to be mistake free football, but I think they can do it. Take it to them....our friends across the tracks!

Crosby ran the ball down our throats....literally. We couldn't stop #21. His o-line opened some holes you could drive a Mack truck through. However, after two quick scores, Nederland showed some signs of life. Dionte Forney is an awesome QB. If he had better pass blocking, or if we had called some screen passes to slow down that pass rush, I truly believe Nederland would have prevailed. Down 35-13, it was difficult to be confident....things were looking bleak. But two quick scores, one after an onsides kick, made things very interesting. Also converted two 2-point conversions to make it a 6 point game. These guys played their butts off and this was one of the best games I have seen....even though we lost. Our defense tightened up and made some great stops. They got screwed big time on that 4th and one. The Crosby runner was tackled down and then he held the ball over the line and they spotted it where he held the ball. I will go to my grave with that call because I was sitting on the 40. He clearly didn't make it, we would have had the ball on the 40...Instead, it gave them life and they went on to score making it 21-7. Please feel free to watch it yourself. Plays like that are game changing. I feel so bad for the players after making such a great stand. Coop knows what I am talking about. Great season Dogs. You were written off early and showed everyone what grit, determination, and great preparation can accomplish.
Tough for anyone to win in the playoffs with 5 turnovers!!
This year's team was very young, had a new QB, new OC, and plenty of injuries to slow our progress. Wow, and I was utterly crucified for making statements like this. -

I am looking for Coach Spell to have that defense ready... They are steadily improving and causing more chaos in the backfield... Also look for Coach Barrow to mix it up on offense... Just hope he doesnt try and get too cute... BIGGEST KEY SATURDAY: Turnovers... If nederland wins the turnover battle, they will win this game.. If the OLine can give Forney a second or two more, he can take care of the football and deliver strikes all night.. If the OLine fails to do this, itll be a long afternoon of sacks, fumbles, and INTs... Dogs MUST win the turnover battle...
yea that forney kid is good, really good, i was extremely impressed with him against us i've heard he's a good kid and very intelligent too
Correct on all counts! Michael, it would be ''more dominating'' ;) I like the position Nederland is in. I like being taken lightly. I think Nederland has a shot to go deep. Go Dogs!!!

He has what I call elusive speed. He doesn't look like he is running that fast, but he is....if that makes sense. I agree that some of those kids looked like they were afraid to hit him, but he gets the job done. To me, Vince Young didn't appear fast because he took 3 yard strides. He was motoring alright.

Nederland vs. Lumberton Predictions?
baddog replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Central beats Lumberton and Lumberton beats Livingston, but then Livingston beats Central.
This never means anything. It's mathematical brain fart. -
Watch at the very end the player coming in from the left on the opposing team pointing his finger at the tackler. Probably called him a knucklehead or something similar.
-
I think Central and PNG should not even play so they can rest their players and not risk getting their starters hurt. ;D

Look at the views on this thread......awesome!!!

Rusted, good post. I would like to address the fumble/forward pass call. That ended up being a 2nd and 15 down from a previous holding call on Vidor. The previous play, we sacked the QB for about an 8-10 yard loss. Had we not gotten that unsportsmanlike call, it would have been 3rd and about 30. The way our defense played all night, and especially on that last couple of series, do you really think Vidor would have converted? Of course you like to hope that it would have happened, and every team thinks that given ''one more shot'', they would prevail, but I happen to believe that we would have held on defense. Now, for ''THE PLAY".....It was ruled a fumble and that is the way it will be forever. Let's say for the moment that it was an incomplete forward pass. Do you realize that the ball hit an offensive lineman and that would have been ruled intentional grounding? Now, instead of just having an incomplete pass making it 3rd and 15, you get penalized 10 yards with loss of down and it is 3rd and 25....just about the same place it would have been had we not gotten the unsportsmanlike call. I still like Ned's chances from there. Vidor didn't pass well all night. There was a screen that got some yardage, but Vidor just kept running inside (as you have already stated) and we kept making stops for minus yardage. Vidor's backs are tough, but this is positively the best I have seen our defense play in quite sometime. Vidor seemed to have some success with the toss/sweep, but didn't stay with it. If my analysis of the series in question is inaccurate, please feel free to correct me. That is the way I remember it though. All in all, I say hats off to Vidor for a hard fought game. There was some hitting going on and that is the kind of game I like....even if we lose, I applaud the effort.
