Hats off to the kids and coaching staff at HJ, finally the community is fired up about the football team not just the basketball team. I am truely happy about this. I always pull for the small schools. In the past is was OF, HJ and HF because they were put in a very difficult district. Your right, HJ is on on a different level I mean their non district schedule was brutal. I think orangefield should skip this game because there is no way we can beat the high flying hawks. All the post about WOS are blowing up and this one is almost off the first page. Take away the turnovers last year and Orangefield wins that game. Both team have a lot of players coming back this year so I think the score will be closer than some of you have predicted. I have never seen an Orangefield poster on setx say they are on a different level than their opponent. You know why because we cant, we just play the game.

I will have to pick HJ on this one as much as it makes my butt hurt!!! Lol

The WO-S boys were really ramped up to play Richmond Foster, to see if they could slay the giant, and they just about pulled it off. That game DID take a lot out of the team emotionally and mentally. Then, they have to turn around and play the smallest school on their schedule (Newton), who already had multiple losses including one to Orangefield. Newton, on the other hand, was focused on this game like WO-S was against Foster. The Eagles played their best game of the year. Yes, WO-S had two of their starting O-linemen out. Plus, our two best defensive players were hurt during this game. This combination and the fact that they took Newton lightly was enough to produce the upset. Props to Newton for doing what they had to for the win. They earned it. WO-S was undefeated against Newton until this game. If WO-S had put the focus and effort into the Newton game like they did against Foster and PNG, they beat Newton handily.
 
We've been able to avoid letdown games like this in most years. I'm glad we've made this mistake now before district play and the playoffs. I firmly believe that a lack of focus will not be our undoing again this year. WO-S will not lose another game in the regular season, and that includes the one against HJ. 

I don't think that the kids were over confident against Newton I think they were just tired. The Richmond Foster game was a war that the Mustangs fought waaaaaay above their heads and almost came out with the win. you see teams in college and the pros that loose a tough game and then come out flat in the next game.they should be fine in district.

16 pages, got a be near a record. Or better yet 16 pages and Bedlemon has not got us locked definitely has to be a record.

I remember last year I told you that WOS would beat HJ in football, basketball, and baseball. I believe we did in ALL THREE. Funny, you should mention  baseball. I remember playing your team in PONY and I believe we NEVER lost to you. We won Director's Tourney and Zone championship over you. By the way I would never type in bold red. I really can appreciate your alligence to your team. Tradition does mean something on Friday nights when a team gets up on you a couple of scores and they have beat you 10 years in a row. Who have you beat with any tradition?

Come on Oct. 31st - Geaux Stangs - and wishing injury free to both teams - when the pissing contest is over, both will need to be representing the GT for several weeks afterwards.

@Bedelmon it's called reflection, people do that when they share a common memory, i.e. State Championships.Let me lower the bar for you, do you guys have a district title. Just asking, I have no knowledge about your school or town. Stop trying to insult people to get attention, that makes you childish!

However, if most of their posters have kids in the program and their parents are filling their heads with beat WOS, beat WOS, beat WOS,  like I believe they are. Well little old slow, unathletic OF might just take them to the Hooterville woodshed.

Why you so jealous edelman? So envious of WOS. Wait unti we win, then I believe hj will know what the word obnoxious means. Not beating people like all the years prior...laughable. We beat PNG, beat Jasper and Silsbee pretty good, lost to a Foster team that could be one of the top teams in their division. Yeah we got beat by Newton, a team that had a rough start but may have put it all together with the talent that they always have.
 
You have to live for today because your yesterday wasn't too good was it? After the game we can go out to eat. I am sure there is a place in Hooterville that serves crow for you to eat. Shoot, ya'll may not even get second place, I think you have to get through OF first. Wouldn't that be a kicker, third place for the Hooterville Hawks for overlooking the Bobcats.

LOL...they blasted me for stating that very thing....I do believe HJ is more athletic than OF, however, OF is very scrappy and disciplined, HJ should win...but that game will be to determine 2nd and 3rd place and the Hawks keep looking past or underestimating, or being over confident about beating the Stangs...OF could take the win.

This WOS team has showed some signs of inconsistency, playing hard one week and maybe not so hard the following week. All though I was way off base on my prediction for the game, I'm almost positive that CT will iron out all the wrinkles before district starts. People this WOS program is one of a kind, CT is one of the few old school coaches left and I believe without him WOS will be just another program hoping to reach .500. I was told by a coach at another school that if he coached like they do at WOS he wouldn't have any kids that would want to play! It's tough at WOS, some kids can handle it and some can't. I have two boys that went through the program, one absolutely loved it and the other absolutely hated it. I wouldn't have wanted my sons playing for anyone else in this area. This loss is probably a good thing for the Stangs to get back on track! And a speedy recovery to all those that were injured!

For everybody that thinks this is the same Newton team that has been playing,your wrong.I saw a team that unlike the past few weeks had a fire in their gut.I just hope that the fire stays lit.As for as WOS, if y'all think this is their demise you are sadly mistaken,this will do nothing more than light a fire in their gut and you may wish that Newton had not woken the sleeping giant.

Whereas I did go see Hj for myself, and thought they were a pretty good team, I to am gaining respect for the players and coaches at HJ....fans - not so much. Also, being from Silsbee (as mentioned before) I could have easily been Hawks fan, especially against WOS (not exactly our favorites in Tigerland) but with the big 3 running their mouth - GEAUX STANGS!

I will post to say i never belittled your players. I say they arent AS talented as a group as wos but yes i do know about your team and know hj is a solid squad. Its kinda my job even if i.dont cover em in person.

I apologize if i offend any hj fans. Just is my opinion that this will not be the year you beat wos and its not because i think youre terrible. Your proud of your guys so i applaud your confidence. Wish ya luck
I leave this thread though cause i see where its been and it wont get any better for each side. Its been fun bickering sports with ya though, its why we love the games but its time to focus my energy on this weeks games and the work week.

History is definitely on WO-S's side when it comes to this match up. But for argument sake, it didn't help them last Friday against Newton, a team who had never beaten the Mustangs until that night( ironically was 0-10 to WO-S). A Newton team who is the not the Newton of old, losing badly this year (39-7) to a team (Tatum) HJ just beat.
 
In some cases, history means nothing. This year may be the case.

Pure and simple, a few HJ fans use anything you say to TRY to motivate their kids and fans (which really need no motivation). They try justify to the world how good their team is because all of Southeast Texas hates lovable losers turned winners. Words never motivate kids, words never get respect from someone else, actions do.
 
You have earned some respect as of late (well deserved I may add). I think most of us would agree they have a heck of a coach and team. They are good, but with greatness comes criticism. So far, they haven't experienced that but they will. You don't have to beat WOS to earn my respect (and I don't think you will IMO), you have it either way with what you have accomplished. I think we all have felt sympathy for them in the past, glad I can take them out of my prayer list now as it is somewhat cluttered. Win like you have before because karma always comes back around.

I wasn't saying it to you. I feel the same way as you do. What I am saying is that I have seen, comments from some HJ fans about the belittling of their kids. I haven't seen that, I have seen comments like the ones you make here, these are not belittling. Maybe I would consider it belittling if you said "HJ is no good, slow and not talented" but I haven't really seen anyone put it in a belittling way. It just irritates me how some try to make it seem that way.

But my opinion will remain wos is the better, faster more talented team. But its even more than that. They are most conditioned team and more experienced in big games. HJ is good team and will do great things. Just not sure they are in level to beat stangs this year.

I guess we will see in good time. I guess on any given night a team can be beat that was not suppose to be. Its all about counting your chickens. LOL!!!!! 

I was referring to an edelman comment about how he guarenteed HJ would beat Silsbee, then when they didn't he proclaimed a moral victory. It was not supposed to be a jab. I myself don't believe in moral victories, it is either a loss or a win.
