Weakness .. having to wait a week before playing again. 
 

Some of y'all already know, but my last day at the Enterprise is next Friday. I'm moving back to Phoenix (my hometown) for the time being and will be doing some freelance for high schools/college sports. Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone on here for reading my stories and interacting, especially over the last year and a half or so I've done mainly high schools. I'll still be active on the site and following along after I leave, but just wanted to let everyone know that the coverage will be different come October.

This team is special and I hope all Newton fans soak it up because its probably a once in a lifetime occurrence of having so much talent on a Newton team. We have witnessed good teams over the years but none with this many talented athletes. In the past we would enter games knowing we were good but not sure if we would leave with a victory. We had tough battles and usually won most of them. Won 4 State Championships and had the opportunity for more. This team is different.  This team is Special. They take away almost all the doubt of not winning. This Newton team is set on kill. They are programmed to win and leave no room for doubt. Last years team was almost the same but we as fans didn't realize our potential or what was in our corner. Our coaching staff is great. They have developed and placed talent in proper place. They have created a football machine that is pound for pound the best in the nation and State of Texas in their 3A division . One that can step from their divisions and conquer many upper divisions. No, sir. Maybe YOU meant "stop rotating QBs", but more than one remark was made about our sophomore QB being not ready and specifically about his performance against Newton. Therefore, my reply was directly to those people and their comments. If you are not lumped into those, then it was not meant for you.

I don't understand y anyone has a problem with the wos and netwon game. It was a very well play game for the most part and netwon came through with the vic.

Anyone that wants an unbiased prediction go to calpreps for Texas. It had Newton beating WOS 31 - 12 this year...obviously the conditions put a damper on that. It also had WOS losing to Nederland... get this...19-17 go figure.

This thread is very interesting. The talk about coaching and the qb is crazy. Teams get better as the year progresses. Heck in 2016 Carthage wasn't very good until something clicked after we eeked by Silsbee. 16-0 isn't the only way you can win state. I'm from Carthage and I seem have more confidence than some of you WO-S fans. Yall lost to a phenomenal team. Learn from it and try to get back to AT&T. Funny how some of you had full confidence in the staff during the winning streak but not enough confidence that they can coach a team not as talented back to Austin.

This may be the toughest week for Newton all season. Its gonna be hard for them to not be out there kicking someone's tail.

Get healthy, and be at 100% for the first time this season

Been a long time since I’ve seen Newton come out the gate in mid- season form, hard to say where the weakness is, gonna say waterboys need to step it up and keep them hydrated lol

Very well said.....at the end of the day, these are all still young men...some are still kids. They all work their tails off just to step on the field on Friday nights. Most folks on here don't have the luxury to have a hometown team who is a "football factory" or "always dominant". We all experience down years, new coaching, etc...I care more about how you develop the young men you have then what your team did in 30 yrs ago... 

What do I think....offweek will keep it closer than Wos!!!

I was reading some of the post after the Wos vs Newton game and felt bad for what some were saying about these young men. My thoughts were I would not want my Son if he were playing to read some of these post. It could destroy any self confidence a young man may have . Encouragement and support works much better. A little tough love helps also but many go beyond that marker. I'm not a Wos homer but I believe in those guys and will be pulling for them. They will overcome. 
 

I'm giving Wos more credit than many. I think they will keep this game close and could possibly win it. Wos is a better team than some think. Pulling for the Stangs.
 

WOS is in my opinion is one of the top 3-5 programs in the state of Texas.  Coach Thompson is as good as any coach in the US.  He knows what his OC is doing.  When his OC is not doing his job, he will change or find another one.  If a fan thinks he knows more than this coaching staff, he should definitely become a coach because he will be great.

Wos never does. u cant find out what u have by playing st Mary school for the blind and sisters of the dead. But there are alot of schools that rather play those kind of teams than play wos 

If they ban the horns then ban the bands. No talking during the game only hand signals. Always someone making waves.

You and your 2016 may not have scored on this Newton team also.Take your loss and swallow. Move on.. I know this Wos team will be standing when it counts no doubt. Newton did what Newton does..
