This is a good point. I just believe that PA Memorial can be better than that. I just do. I know, I know…it’s a tough district. Man, I get it with the BH, PNG, and Crosby. Get you a coach that has experience turning around losing programs. Beaumont United may have ended up 0-24 or whatever it was , but I still think baseball wise Memorial can do better than the record going forward. Either way , they will get everyone back come football season with the talent they are bringing back on the football field next year.

AD will need to think it through a little clearer the next time around. I believe if he is just the AD this is his only job to select coaches and oversee the program. Seems like they struggled in most sports this year when I looked their record up. There are solid football coaches all around. Go get one. Also, I thought they were a baseball school. Saw the baseball record on here today. Guess I was wrong on that as well. Best of luck to them going forward. Not real familiar with their program , but always pulling for a comeback.

PNG : 12 Sterling : 2 PNG with a ten run rule over Sterling ending their 4th place playoff hopes for Sterling. The current Sterling varsity coaching staff that has been together now for 7 years straight is still unable to make the playoffs. There has been a call for a change at head coach by both parents and players but it probably won’t happen. Sterling had the talent to make it this year as a 4th place program. Credit to a great senior class for even making it interesting down the line.

Is PNG on upset alert? Probably not…but they better not overlook them. Just saying.

Sterling : 13 GCM : 3 GCM did not show up to play tonight. Like not at all. Helps the cause though. Sterling has some talented and scrappy seniors that have just taken it upon themselves to leave their mark. Go down swinging mentality. Oh could this be the year they finally get in. So reality here , For one , if PNG overlooks Sterling because PNG has already secured a playoff spot , Sterling will have the upset of the year over the Indians. PNG comes out strong and then gets complacent they give Sterling a win of a lifetime. However , if PNG keeps their foot on the gas and comes out to play they get the win. I just think they are too talented. Having a family member on the Sterling team for the last few seasons has been a hope of a playoff and then not enough to get in. I’m not sure GCM can even beat Lee. After the way GCM played tonight, Lee may have a big victory coming to them. Good softball down the final stretch.

Can GCM take care of business and knock Sterling officially out of the playoffs or does Sterling get to battle one more game against PNG? Last time , GCM had Sterling down by several runs and then the walks began letting Sterling back in the game. I think the final was 7-6. Rival game with playoff implications.

They are an incredible team. Sound defense and can hit. Thought the BH coach pulled their starting pitcher #1 a little early in the Sterling game. After getting out to a 8 run lead , I think he thought he would get the 15 or 10 run mercy rule. However , the second pitcher gave up a two run home run and then got into some walk trouble. Looked like she just ran out of fuel. Good thing they had #1 to come back in. She walked a run in and hit a batter but got them out of it. Congrats to them. Again, a great program.

Don’t anybody misunderstand my statement, lol. They don’t need a new coach or anything. God bless that guy and good for BISD that they got a baseball guy out there to coach. That’s the first step in the right direction. He’s got some tough sledding ahead with that district. Go beat Humble.

That’s interesting. Thanks for letting me know. I was misinformed. I was told he was primarily a football guy that had been in the staff for a few years. I guess the old statement then is true..”just because you played it doesn’t mean you can coach it.” They are still getting 15 and 10 run ruled. They don’t appear to even be in a game. You would think they didn’t even have a coach and those kids were just winging it out there. But there is time, I think. They play Humble. I don’t think that Humble has won either. If United doesn’t get the win, they will be winless for the year even with a former college baseball player at coach. Yikes. Best of luck to the Timberwolves going forward. Pulling for one win here. Nobody wants to be winless.

Anybody got the GCM vs Nederland score

Tough to hear, sir. They sure play basketball. Understatement of the year. Lol

United is going to have to bring in a full time baseball coach that’s not just a football guy looking to hang out until spring football starts.

And it certainly was an interesting game with Baytown Sterling coming out on top. Rumor was the head coach was in a “go to the playoffs” or be replaced position after several years of underachieving despite having solid players. Not over yet. They got to beat Goose Creek Memorial for the outright 4th place. That war isn’t for a couple of weeks. In short detail. Nederland pitching got knocked around. Sterling got two home runs and one inside the park home run against the dogs. The facts are that Sterling is loaded with seniors and talent. They got the girls to go to the playoffs. The head coach and varsity asst which have been together throughout the last several years have been a major reason why the teams have not been successful. But to be fair , I’ll give credit to the two lady coaches where credit is due. They had the team looking good today. Now can they sustain it. Not sure who we would get even if they were replaced. The JV coach , who is a former baseball coach , is rumored to be going as a head coach next season at another place. The dude deserves it. No one around that place thought the JV would even win a game and that’s not drama talking. They are just not softball players or true athletes and they have won some games. Could get dark for the varsity next year with all the seniors graduating so they better get in the playoffs this year. Feel another drought coming. Anyway, the story continues for this district. Nederland coaches and the team battled back but could not make up the difference. Maybe next year for them. The battle for 4th place rolls on, lol…. Yes , the battle for fourth.

Nederland vs Baytown Sterling tomorrow for a game that already means much in what appears to be a potential battle for 4th place. Goose Creek Memorial beat both teams and is sitting comfortable in that slot for now. The loser of Baytown Sterling vs Nederland should find it almost impossible to get in. The last time these two teams played it was a 3-2 final with Nederland getting the win. Nederland pitching got into “walk” trouble and almost lost. Should make for an interesting game.

Man, that school does play some mean baseball and softball. Been doing it right for years. Although, it does appear baseball wise they are falling behind Orangefield. However , they are a playoff team every single year and that’s to be appreciated. In keeping with the thread , this is a football topic …and yes BC is not looking so sharp. For me it’s not so much about the BC coach ,who I think is entering his third year as the boss over there, taking BC to the state championship as much as it is about them being competitive and winning some football games on a consistent basis. I would think that’s what people around the program would want to see come around first. When I read this, I went to the BCISD website on the job board, and they did not appear to have any high school football coaching positions posted. I mean I’m not that familiar with the profession, but it would seem to me that surely BC will be making some assistant coaching changes on the football program after not winning much. Maybe that stuff doesn’t come out until summer or that’s not how it works in high school sports, but I was somewhat shocked. I would think that you have to do that especially after not being successful in football in the last couple of years. Then again , I went to WOS page as well, and they only have a defensive line job posted that was showing posted even before last football season. Like I said , I’m not familiar with how all of that works. Can assistant coaches even be removed the same way a head coach can? Ill rely on y’all to inform me of how all that works. Either way , certainly hoping for better days for BC and WOS.
