Rumor has it the McNeese State football statistician job is open. Since I am widely-known as the best stat-taker in SETX, it's only right I apply for the job. I know Gabe will give me a solid reference. But Mr. Davis, I need your help too.

When I order a pizza, Mr. Davis what toppings do you want? Dont worry, I wont take stats on how long they take to deliver. I don't want to "make up stats".

Who exactly have you seen fabricate stats? I could maybe see what a school statistician gets out of inflating stats, but what good is it for someone in the media to make a kid's stats look better? I know we try to get as many stats as possible for each team. They can email it to us, Orangefield still faxes us stuff! But at least they help out.

Short of being at every team's game and taking every stat, how else will someone get unbiased stats? Maybe you can be the official SETX stats person. You say "Lets come up with a solution" but you didn't actually mention a solution. This isn't the NFL or NCAA who have official stat keepers. The teams that do keep stats and put them online regularly (I know Newton does, among others), thank you. But even if every team had an official stat keeper, how would you stop them from fudging stats here and there? Anytime I compare our stats with the News and Orange leader, there's rarely a huge disparity.

Stats from everyone, whomever found to do this, would need to be uniform. No point getting stats if dont get full stats from all teams. Heres copy our stat box and I know BE is similar. And yes i realize the example below is pieced with two different games

dBerrySports got a reaction from AthleticSupporter - Jock in Ozen @ Lumberton
Megan was the best player on the floor tonight. She blocked and altered shots on defense, making Ozen's interior shots difficult. On offense, she had threes that helped stop Ozen's run when it looked like it would be close in the 3rd quarter.

But Lumberton is balanced. Taylor Powell, Alix Sellers and Hannah Holt can get the job done. Their defense was good enough that, even when they couldn't score in the 3rd quarter, Ozen really couldn't put a huge dent in their lead. Lumberton could do damage in the playoffs.

Anyways, I think Port Arthur Memorial will be extremely improved. In 5A, I think the district is PN-G's to lose, but Nederland will always compete and I want to see how Central/Ozen/Vidor compete. WO-S will reload, H-J should good solid. District 12-3A DI will once again be real competitive. All in all, it should be a solid year. Hopefully the area can get 1-2 teams to state like this season.

Not sure what that has to do with Montgomery being Vidor's biggest win in program history. But since I didn't mention Crosby, now you want to change the focus.

You're right, that win over Montgomery definitely was Vidor's biggest win in program history

    dBerrySports got a reaction from One4All in Gilmer 35 West Orange-Stark 25/Final
In my opinion, the questionable call on the field goal return didn't change the game. That clearly would have helped WO-S's case and made Gilmer's comeback tougher, but it wasn't the be all end all. The plays that changed the game were Dallas' first interception, the kickoff the Wolfford had to field deep in WO-S territory and the fumble on the next play. That fumble recovery TD was pretty much free points, Gilmer had to do close to nothing to get them. If WO-S can sustain a drive, even if they have to punt, then maybe Gilmer takes a little more time to score, or they don't score at all.

But the ifs don't matter now. Gilmer made the adjustments they needed to and did what they had to do. WO-S left it all out on the field but it just wasn't enough.

Gilmer is very good, but WO-S definitely hurt themselves. 3 turnovers in the second half. Plus the ref made some questionable calls. First the flag on DT's return and then there was a clear PI, at least defensive holding that the refs missed. But Gilmer has a ton of talent and took advantage of it in the second half.

It was no accident that WO-S played that well in the 1st half, they had the perfect gameplan. But Gilmer made their adjustments too.

Congrats to Gilmer on winning the state title and congrats to WO-S on a great season. You don't get to Jerry's world if you didn't have a good season

La Grange can run the ball really well. But if WO-S can force them to throw it, the game definitely tilts in the Mustangs' favor. La Grange's defense is fast but nothing that WO-S hasn't seen or even practiced against themselves.

Lol yeah, Orangefield missed some tackles. But the La Grange RBs made them miss some too. It's crazy that No. 5 is the "2nd" RB for them.

Like Coach Smalley said to his boys after the game, no need for them to hang their head. Solid season, won a play off game for the 1st time in 11 years. Acknowledge the not so good but celebrate the good. Definitely more good than bad for Orangefield thi season.
