  1. It was. The other kid grabbed Jordyn’s whole left arm (as he drove past him) to the point that it turned him sideways with no call (in double bonus), then the kid who drew the foul actually stepped on Jordyn’s foot as he was going up. One of the Lamar photogs sent me the picture. That went from a 3 point play to give Lamar a tie or the lead to 3 out of 4 FTs on the other end. Same ref waves off a Harrison basket by calling travel on a sweet euro step. (He told Brooks after watching the replay “sorry I missed that one.” And the foul on Kason on the loose ball where the acu kid came across him to knock it out of bounds (which put them on the line and gave them 2 points at the line), was equally terrible. 3 huge sequences that all took away points and/or gave them points. All made by the same guy. Takes a lot to get Brooks to lose it. That ref really earned it.
  2. I will tell you what’s not better in the WAC. The darn zebras. One in particular was responsible for about 10 points the wrong way for Lamar today. Good news is next week we should get Catt back, as well as Ball hopefully (his first action of season). Adams first game back was today and he looked great.
  3. Yeah Remi was the reverse of all the kids who start late and are a year behind - he’s was a full year younger than his class. Alex was ended up being a heck of a player and was, as you know, a really good shooter even as a freshman. He was just a long way from what he ended up being, especially his last two years (as almost all freshman are. I know he chose to play football and he was an incredible player on the gridiron. And to the others, never said Buna didn’t have a some players over the years. They’ve never had a trio of players together like Harper, Arnold and Stanford. The fact that they went to toe to toe and won just as often is a credit to the Cougars and their coach. Now they gotta put that loss tonight behind them and continue to improve. The Buna-Kountze matchup has produced some gems over the years.
  4. One Connell, the oldest, was on that team with the Edwards. And he was the reverse of a reclass kid…he was a full year ahead in school. They were a nice team. But Kountze had the three best players on the floor. The middle Connell brother would have been a freshman when Arnold or Stanford was a senior.
  5. yep. I had forgotten that kid had taken a “sabbatical”. I think OF and Silsbee were his first two games back.
  6. Thanks for updates! Tough gym to do it out of too.
  7. You’re exactly right. Forgot about that.
  8. Man what a game. I miss Gary Stelly…
  9. Lol yeah theoretically. But WOS already had their best shot they’ve had in years. And they weren’t going to run the table anyway. They are one of those teams that is going to lose a game in each half of district that they have no business losing. And they are the only team that has any shot of running with Silsbee.
  10. Clair Huxtable. Her husband is kind of rapey but so was Hillary’s…
  11. Yeah AAW might have found the game of the night. It’s a healthy rivalry game too.
  12. This would have been the one I would have chosen tonight.
  13. Wow! Sorry Buna. I jinxed you lol I will say I have no idea what either team looks like this year. Other than one kid for Buna, I don’t know that I’ve seen any other player for either team.
  14. Chill out old heads! Let them boo! Let them boo!
  15. I believe Tyler had a nice career playing in the trenches for Sam.
  16. Yeah he was really good, especially for 6-5, 300.
  17. Which kid? Ken is their best player, 6-7 wing but he’s a junior. McDermott is a 6-8 sophomore and also really darn good.
  18. Heck those years where Kountze was stacked, Buna’s best player was an o lineman!
  19. Lol the same dumb argument people make against Brian English. Would Joub have a state championship at Chester? At Vidor? All I am saying is one has beaten the other as often as not, much of the time with inferior talent. He’s never had a team that Joub, Sigler, Boutte, Green, or any other coach in this area would have won state with.
  20. Whitmire. Head to head, he’s outperformed him. From the 2014-2015 to the 2016-2107 season (TJ’s sophomore year, Harper’s senior year…two of those included Grayland), Buna was either 4-4 or 5-3 against Kountze (2 of those years included a rubber match). Buna shouldn’t have won more than 1 of those games, Kountze was way more talented. I’m not counting the last few years where everyone owned Kountze.
  21. Yikes. Reminds me of Lumberton and LCM punting the ball back and forth on 1st down a couple of years ago trying to dodge Carthage 😂. I’m kidding of course. Kind of.
