Of all the dumb aggy things that exist, this is the aggyiest. I suppose we are all “t-shirt” fans of the professional teams we support, and there are plenty of “t-shirt” aggy fans around, including on this board. A couple I know are more die hard Aggies than most I know who actually attended there. Somehow, and logic isn’t the aggy strong suit, you are less of a fan if you didn’t attend that school. One of the “t shirt” longhorn fans in this area has donated well into 8 figures to UT. If only he could reach the status of a former aggy student with a $500-$1000 class ring... I remain convinced that many an aggy are hung up on the “t shirt fan thing” because they can’t wrap their minds around someone getting into The University when they couldn’t. I have been called one at Kyle on more than one occasion to which my stock response has been, “just because you couldn’t get into UT doesn’t mean I didn’t.” Both times the stuttered response I got was basically incoherent and didn’t refute my premise...

The only thing that would surprise me is if the game wasn’t close, regardless of who wins. I will take Silsbee by a score, because I think they’re the better team.

This is a very interesting point. I think there’s a lot of truth in this.

And I’m thinking our biggest game of the decade was our first. But that’s one of those games no living aggy would know anything about.

Win or lose, this was a different team. He is who TEXAS, LSU, tOSU and others thought he was. And we didn’t have to spend $70m to hire a coach on the hot seat, which is nice. For all those Texas haters, be afraid. Be very afraid. The future is going to be painful for you.

Almost all of that I agree with!

Cornel Thompson has been one of the better defensive coaches in this state, regardless of level, for more than 3 decades. That didn’t change over night. Sometimes, kids aren’t as good as others, or aren’t as coachable as others. To argue it’s on him, is laughable. And by laughable I mean hysterical. And by hysterical, I mean asinine.

It is almost impossible for a fan base not to get “spoiled” by runs like the Mustangs have had. I would hope that most understand that their coaches didn’t forget how to coach over the offseason. But nothing surprises me anymore.

Actually couldn’t be further from the truth. Cornel does everything he can not to show up a coach or team. Attempted field goals on 1st down in the whole second half, etc., he is the furthest thing from a run it up coach. Barbay, unlike the poster here, absolutely knows this.

Or he’s an independent thinker that agrees with some policies but not others. In other words, a highly intelligent, fair minded individual who has decided to share his fortune with his employees (see OP). Can’t imagine how he’s found such success.

Thank goodness Jeff Bezos got it figured out in the last year and a half. I was worried about Amazon before that. Bezos plays it pretty close to the vest politically but I’m sure based on his substantial and open support for gay marriage and undocumented “dreamers,” he and Trump are likely simpatico.

The beauty of most sports is that the games are decided on the field/court. Polls can be fun but are fallible and often egregious mistakes are made, even at the highest levels. When sports writers are voting in polls where 90%+ of the teams they haven’t laid eyes in on (like Texas HS sports), credibility should be given accordingly. Or to state it as it was once succinctly (and maybe perversely) stated to me, “polls are for strippers.”
