From my experience, no. "Truer" hops, consistent playing surface, and advanced turf technology makes it very similar to grass. I mean natural grass is the best if you have a full time crew to maintain it. You have to have the money to maintain it though from the normal wear and tear. Especially 2nd base and home plate areas. They tend to wear out from usage.

Unfortunately, Texas aligns with the West Coast Hippie culture of the PAC 12. The university it seems is moving further and further to the left. I think that has impacted athletics more than any play on the field. Much less of an "athletics first" culture than in the past. IMO
