This line of thinking is exactly what has created the downturn in society over the past several decades. Parents never pushing their kids to take personal responsibility for their choices or their role in bad situations. Even if all of what you said is true, your teaching your son to lay down and cry when things aren't fair. That's not a life lesson that will serve him well. I highly doubt Mac's staff would have lasted as long as it has had he run his program this way.

Hearing he's taking a Central Texas AD job. I wonder what BH's approach will be on this hire? They wanted coaches with championships under their belts and as such the last two coaches came to BH with six combined 6A titles(Gage's 2 at Lewisville would be considered 6A now). Over that eleven year span BH has won two district titles and has three playoff wins. Not to mention in the last five years they've compensated the Westerberg family right around $2M.
Does BH back the Brinks truck up to a guy right down I-10 like John Kay at North Shore and pitch the idea that he can be the head football coach and the AD? Does the BH administration finally realize these guys they're hiring with multiple titles also have talent near the top of the class and hire a guy like Jeff Riordan, or do they go down the same route where they pay a bunch of money to a guy near the end of his career just to say they have a championship coach?
I think Westerberg accomplished what he set out to do when he took the BH job. He made a bunch of money in a short span, got his son a head coaching job at Whitehouse and parlayed his time on The Hill into an even better retirement job. So much for great coaches being able to win anywhere.

I thought the falcons had a chance to win the district but they're better than I thought. I take back my slander that Jasper, Silsbee and WOS would dog walk you.
I would say it depends on how long you can avoid Carthage. Right now, it's a three way fight for second place in the district of doom. Depending on the.march, maybe y'all make some noise.
I wish Huffman only the best.

The man has not even steeped on Campus and made one executive decision yet and your down talking the man and the program he is going to install... you want to know how good programs become great.. with community support...

If you are mad at the Supt. then you need to reevaluate. He was not the one that put Crosby in a financial crisis.. check your board members that YOU elected .(nothing can be passed without them) and your previous Supt. The backyard swimming parties are the reason why Crosby is in the situation they are in now!!!(Those that know the real deal that is going down in Crosby know what I'm talking about) The new Supt. was hired to correct the problems that were already in effect so the STATE DID NOT TAKE OVER... do you know how bad that has to be??...(SEE NORTH FOREST).. yea, your on that level financially.

If you are blaming the Supt. for " changed the hiring rules to exclude some candidates the community wanted" then you are blaming the wrong guy.  Any coach who is serious about being a head football coach/AD, especially at the 5A or 6A level, needs to have his masters. So blame those coaches for not taking the proper steps to help success in the hiring process....

Another reason for ANY assistants not getting the job has to do with the reactions of Coach Rio to the situation.. the Supt., when faced with trying to correct the problems, hired a OUTSIDE COMPANY to help so there was no bias when having to cut positions. The new Supt. went to Rio like a man to tell him about the layoffs and RIo went off on him instead of being understanding and then letting him know that he would be looking for other positions.... the guy is just doing his job. Because of RIo's  actions,  I'm sure he would not trust or consider any of his staff for the position because how loyal they are to him...(One of the main reasons why the DC & OC gets fired when a new head coach come in).
And by the way, when Rio came in and brought his staff, he told his guys that Crosby was just a stepping stone and he would only be here for 3 years. the talent and SUPPORT changed his mind. He was offered another job at a really nice 6A, however "Crosby made me an offer that I could not turn down"
My suggestion during this time is to be understanding and give as much support you can and give Coach Prieto a chance. Crosby will continue to have success as long as the community supports it.

I thought both teams were pretty even for the most part. First drive of 2nd half was pivotal for Splendora, Credit to the coaches at halftime. Both defenses seemed to get a bit tougher inside red zone all night. I think Splendora got a bit more pressure on qb, which led to some hurried throws and a couple of picks. I also think Splendora was a bit more physical down the stretch with their running game. Good game.

Huffman only throws the ball to #10 I think.  90 % of the time . A slant every now and then, but mostly it's a fade route on the twin receiver side. All Lumberton did was move the safety over the top in the 2nd half.  Huffman continued to throw the same route.  Interception after interception.  Bad play calling. Huffman should've never lost to Lumberton after being up 24-7 at half.

I think the Huffman Offensive Coordinator gave yall that game.  The lack of a 4 minute offense (which they should have been running the whole second half) was the difference. Huffman didn't neeed to score in the second half, they just needed to play keep away. When you have a lead like they did, any drive that ends in a kick is a good drive. If they would have run the ball in the second half then Lumberton would have had no shot at coming back, IMO.
But, Splendora has a a balanced attack and should be able to take advantage of whatever the Huffman defense gives them. The difference will be if Splendora can cover the Huffman receiver or if the Huffman QB can throw it to the right color jersey.

Only watch a little film on Splendora,  but that's gonna change this week.  Preliminary looks like they are just like us but bigger..  If this week we can put a entire game together it might be a pretty good competitive game. Offense is getting better every week, just gotta get these stupid mistake/miscues down.  Cant wait till Friday..

Kinda disappointing that we didnt score in the 2nd half.. I really would love to see a complete game from start to finish.. I know I'm knit picking here. We drove up and down the field, and then made mistakes in 2nd half.  Good game just gotta find a game plan in 2nd half to keep the mental mistakes down on Offense..

Our O line is a suspect on run blocking.  There Big, but not strong enough.. But if we would of just dinked and dunked the 2nd half and try to eat up clock and not make stupid mental mistakes we would've won.  But hindsight is 20/20. Our Coaches had a good game plan and it showed in the 1st half.  Now the 2nd half is another story.  Everyone can say we should of done this or that, but if you take the mental mistakes away that the players made in the 2nd half tonight we have a different narrative today. Had 3 total turnovers in the 2nd half with a pick 6.  The pick 6 was a lame duck throw that should not of been thrown up for grabs in zone coverage. Take that play away and again different ball game. Another pick was in our on endzone when we were driving. And another one was right before the game ended in the 4th, and who's knows we could've at least try a field goal.  But that all said, we see what our team can be, but we just don't have that killer instinct.  We are a finesse Team, that needs to get meaner in some positions to play this game.

Lumberton Is suspect against  the pass, if we move the pocket and attack the middle of field (not just the sidelines) we might be able to put some points up.

Hopefully it's a competitive game.  As of right now I see either team winning but must give edge to Lumberton.. From all I have seen both make several mistakes during game. This game will be determined on how well Huffman O plays.  As all our games over the past season and 1/2 have been.  Flashes of greatness, but no consistency.

Lol you are probably right.. Honestly we should be 5-0 or at least 4-1, but our O cant stay on the field at crucial moments in games.. I've seen Lumberton in person and on film, and looks like it will be a good game with plenty of mistakes on both sides...

Concordia made adjustments that hurt us.. Didnt see anything from our side as far as adjustments.. Imo we were out coached.. Middle of field is wide open but no route ran that way only to sidelines.. No qb runs, this team we had beat..

We dont ever seem to locate the other team weakness and exploit it!!  Concordia was beat imo, but they found our holes on D and kept at it.  We stopped them several times in the 2nd half, but O couldn't score.  Instead of molding kids to fit this Offense we should mold Offense around our kids strengths..

LOL same boring a$% offense and the OC ain't changing anything. My PeeWee team could watch film and stop Huffman. We don't have a bunch of speed burners and our wide outs run good routes, don't complete routes, and timid. If the ball ain't coming to them, they don't do crap! Get up field and lay a block kid! We never make adjustments on either side of the ball. Frustrated with this entire program! QB continues to throw off back foot. I wonder if a coach may watch film and help the athlete! Whatever.

Yeah, Newton is definitely unbelievable. But please don't discount the hours the coaching staff has, and does put in to prepare these kids week in and week out to set them up for success. (For many years) Talented athletes don't build and sustain programs.
I agree that gene pool is important, also long tenured coaching that includes the youngsters, community support and a strong tradition of value placed on the  success of the athletic program. The "hot bed" areas of talent always draws the best coaches and the support of the community and the school keep them. IMO.  PURPLE REIGN!!!!!!

Some of you Dayton folks wanted Stewart out SOOOO bad... well, he's out and look where your program is at now. I hate to say it, but the Dayton Broncos are not any good right now.
From the outside looking in ( I have only seen 2/3 games this year ) and 5 games from the previous 2 years... this is what I see, just my opinion.
I think the program has gone soft. In the old days ( '95-'12 ) Dayton was a bunch of tough guys. The coaches coached tough, the kids played tough. There was no doubt that even when Dayton was outmatched athletically or by better teams, Dayton was always gonna battle your a** off. The Broncos were going fight to win all the way to the end. Well, that's gone now. It appears that there is a lot of "Oh well" attitude ( from everybody ). It doesn't look like the Broncos are very strong. The skill kids look very underdeveloped physically for Varsity FB players compared to some of the kids on opposing teams. The lineman kids look "thick" like they would be strong, but I just haven't seen the OL/DL kids "man-handling" anybody. From the stands, it looks like they get pushed around. Not that the players can hear it or anything, but dang the fans in the stands are so negative! At this last game, I was sitting near the 45 yard line about 6 rows up, and all I heard for 3 quarters were people b!TC#!ng and complaining. "Why are they running this play, why don't they call that play, these coaches suck, we can't tackle, the uniforms don't look good, why are we playing that defense, so and so ought to be playing this position, we suck - so they ought to at least put my son in"... seriously people, give it a rest. Everyone wants their team to win, but y'all are ruining the fun experience of the game. I know the team is not playing well now, but as a fan base... y'all are VERY negative. I'm just a guy that loves to watch football, but these are just my opinions of what I see happening over the last couple of years. Hopefully, the Broncos can turn it around and get back to the winning we like to see.
