I was actually referring to the Coors Light brand of bullets.  ;)
OH, that is a much better brand of bullets!!!!  Those would probably be really good bigfoot bait!!
 3. I had an Uncle that wore a size 16 1/2!!!  Now that is a BIGFOOT, Jack!!!
 4.
I thought Bigfoot lived in Hardin County? That Weird Texas book says so. It says he's even been spotted out there on the ghost road.
No, that myth was debunked.  Come to find out it was just that guy that rides his murray ridin' lawn mower around the streets of Fred, however I have speculated that by the looks of some Fred residents that at some point in history there was a bigfoot in the woodshed!!!
 5. I spent the last dollar I will EVER spend on Campbell property two years ago when they came to my lease that had been leased by our family since 1980 and told us we had to relocate stands that had been in place for 10+ years because they were on main roadways. These stands were on OLD logging roads that could not be accessed by car or truck, 4wheeler only trails.  They then proceeded to tell us that we owed them money for missing pines where our food plots were.  These food plots were in the same places they were when Temple owned the land and this property had not been "pine" harvested since Campbell took over.  They said we could not plow or disc any part of their property (even food plots) and ONLY the main road ditches could be mowed, you were not allowed to mow shooting lanes. Since then I was told by a TPWD employee that Campbell met with them and told them that within the next couple years they would begin auctioning or making available all Campbell land for lease (including existing leases) each year.  If someone out bid you for your existing lease you would be given the oppurtunity to match the bid or vacate the property.  The TPWD employee went on to tell me that Campbell said they were going to place their OWN trail cameras on each lease (in a locked box) and post those pictures on the website where people view the property for bid.  I understand that the property belongs to them and they can do whatever they like with it, but those folks are "money mad" and dont care that 3 or 4 generations of families have poured blood, sweat, tears, and bundles of money into caring for THEIR property, they are simply just looking for more money.  THis is why I choose to not share MY money with them anymore. The draw back for this for me personally is that most property available for lease in East Texas/Western LA is owned by Campbell and since leaving my lease two years ago I have not found another but fortunately for me we have several hundred acres that is owned by my family that I hunt.

 8. Ballistic tip rounds expand on impact, they usually cause lots of trauma but in many cases they will not exit the other side of the body cavity which is where most of the blood loss occurs.  Ballistic tips are fine however if you shoot and the animal does not go down immediately I would suggest giving it at least an hour to two hours before trying to blood trail, in most cases if the animal is left undisturbed it will bed down after running a small distance and die.  Dont ever push a deer too soon, give it time to bed and bleed.

 10.
Uncle Si - That would be great.  Not too far - I used to hunt in that area.  Let me know if you find something.  How do you find a lease?  Word of mouth, website, magazine?  Most of the leases I have looked at online are really expensive or they want a ton of hunters for very little acreage.
You can go to crownpinetimber.com and search for property that Campbell has available.  I am looking for privately owned leases or leases owned by weyerhouser or anyone other than Campbell.  Campbell is money hungry and really doesnt care about it's leasee's. Hey, if I sound disgruntled it's because I am, Jack!!
 11.
I'd take SA's best 5 personally, but that's just me.  WS didn't have an answer for 1,3 or 4.  12 does the little things that don't get noticed.  You can fill in several guys to make that best 5 very good.  SA really didn't use their depth like they normally do.  The bench normally gets more minutes than last night.  But hey, A win is a win is a win.
I will agree that both teams are pretty dang good....  SA don't take Broaddus too lightly this Friday night, they are salty!!  Good luck SA!!!
 12. From what I saw and this is strictly my opinion West Sabine's best 5 were better than San Augustine's best 5 BUT SA has good depth where WS has none and that was the difference in the game......  IF SA plays to their potential that depth could take them a long way. Hey, and a lighter note, I sure do enjoy watchin' that SA coach (Tory Barnes).  He's a really good coach and is full of energy!
 13.
Looking again this year.  Was unable to find a lease this past season.  Anywhere in the SE/East Texas region.  I am willing to entertain any and all situations.  Let me know.  Thanks for the help!
I'm looking for a lease around Sam Rayburn close to Jasper.  If that is not too far away for you I will let you know if I find one with multiple openings.
 14. Them tigers have their work cut out for them this week! But hey, this could go either way, jack!!!  I hope the Tigers go ninja on them wolves!!!
 15. Lots of canvas backs and redheads on Toledo right now.  Duck shootin on Toledo bend is as good this year as I've seen in the past 20 years or so.  Around Indian mounds is hot right now.
 16.
Not much on pics.  You will have to take my word for it.  It's a nice 870 with screw in chokes.  Used only a couple of years.  A few scratches on the stock, but good shape.
Ok, I'll take it!  Check pm
 17.
Any tips to get the big one this year? Share any tips or tricks ya got
Hey, I know I'm posting this late in the conversation and way late for this deer season but you will have to cut me some slack cause I'm new to the site and I just couldnt resist the temptation to reply because secondly only to duck shootin', deer hunting is my specialty, Jack!!  Now on to the deer huntin' tips.............. First thing I tell every hunter that approaches me for advice on deer huntin' is, if you want to drastically improve your chances of killing a mature whitetail deer is to get out of the box blinds/stands and switch to either a lock on tree stand or climbing stand.  Sure it's not nearly as comfortable as the box but if you are serious about killing a big buck this is extremely advantageous.  Remember, big bucks did not become big and old by being stupid.  If you have to and just refuse to get up in a tree then drop the box stand hunting and purchase a pop up ground blind that can be hid amongst the brush. Secondly, stand set-up is extremely important.  Once you locate a good hunting area (a place with tracks showing deer movement/frequency, rubs, scrapes) be sure to set your stand far enough away not to completely intrude on the traffic area but close enough for accurate/confident shots.  As I do, I would suggest placing TWO blinds/tree stands at each location to allow for wind direction.  If you are hunting around a pasture or edge of a clearing remeber to set up a blind in the staging area outside of the open area.  The staging area will be in the thicker woods between the bedding and feeding area and most good deer linger in the staging area until dark before coming into the open. Third..  Baiting the deer:  Corn is probably the best non-native or non-wild growing bait.  Corn is a must if like many East Texas and Western LA properties almost all pine plantation, however if your property has any hardwood bottoms with preferably white oaks then you MUST be hunting the acorns.  Deer will walk right over the top of corn to get to acorns.  When feeding corn the deer (especially bucks) respond better to corn that is simply thrown or spread to the ground by hand NOT UNDER A FEEDER.  Remember the more undesturbed the area is the better the chances of seeing deer.  Now dont get me wrong, deer will absolutley come to feeders but the big old mature buck is leary of ANYTHING out of the ordinary and big metal feeders are NOT naturally growing structures in the deer woods.  Winter greenery is also a great attractant and in my opinion oats work better than any however rye grass and winter wheat work well. You do not have to plow or disc the ground to get a decent stand of greenery and lots of places are innaccessable to tractors so hand thrown seed will come up fairly well on top of the ground just before a rain.  Many hunters plant around the labor day weekend, THIS IS TOOO EARLY.  The deer eat the greenery when it is young and tender.  Have you ever had deer eating your greenery in November and then stop eating it in December??  They do this because the greenery gets to tall and tough.  Plant around the first of October to ensure that the leaves of your greenery stay tender throughout season. THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP EVER for deer hunting................  DO NOT HUNT YOUR STAND IF THE WIND IS BLOWING FROM YOU TO YOUR HUNTING AREA!!!  If you do this you might as well be beating on a set of drums in your stand, the deer KNOW you are there, THEY SMELL YOU!!!  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to have a stand set up for a north wind and one for a south wind.  If you hunt in the wrong wind you stand a good chance of ruining a good hunting area.  I have gone WEEKS without hunting my favorite stand because of the wind.  PLEASE PLEASE hunt the wind harder than you hunt deer I PROMISE it will payoff! Something to try (cause it works).......  Doe decoy!!  If you have a good open area to hunt during the rut try using a doe decoy, bucks CANNOT resist this and will come out to "check" her.  Most deer get within 20 yards of a decoy before realizing something is amiss. HEY, good huntin' Jack!

 19.
Hemphill has found the right guy. Launius is from small town Arkansas, he's a good family man and a great offensive mind. 20.

I really don't care who it is they hire as long as it is someone that WANTS to be IN HEMPHILL and somebody that has staying power.  It scares the bejeezus outta me everytime I see 1A and 2A schools hire OC's from larger schools because most of the time those guys are just using the smaller school AD title to pad a resume and lots of times those guys don't make it past 2-3 years before they are taking advantage of the AD title to move up in the ranks and back to the larger paying jobs at larger schools.  There were several applicants for this job that live in or close to Hemphill with good resume's (proven coaches).  These guys already have roots in the area and good qualifications (none currently or recently on Hemphill staff). Not sure why they got passed over??  Hey, regardless of who it is this fellar is going to have an uphill climb and current admin at Hemphill is RUTHLESS if you don't fit into or follow their agenda, JACK!!!
Unfortunatly, that is the nature of the beast, most coaches look for career advancement. Why settle for 50 to 60K at a 1A school when you can make 90 to 100k at the 5A level or in some cases the 4A as well. For Hemphill to be successful, they have to let the man do his thing. Give him time to build his program, without the admins or the townspeople interference. If the nosy nellies can do that, then they might have a coach that will stay awhile.
That is correct in most cases, however there are some coaches that prefer the small town way of life for themselves and their families, they like the idea of living on or near the lakes.  There are coaches out there that want to make their permanent home in places like Hemphill.  Hey, what's not to like?  The best fishin', deer huntin', duck huntin', and squirrel huntin' there is in all in one place, Jack.  Plus there is two very nice upscale golf courses for those yuppies that want the country life!
